    If this was a bit taller to include five shelves rather than four that may have tempted me to upgrade from my Billy Cabinets

    • @DrawTheLine35
      @DrawTheLine35 4 месяца назад +3

      Yeah it was a big miss to not go taller. How many people put their detolfs on risers? Almost everyone. I still think a Billy Bookcase and some led lighting will be a really great option for more people at a fraction of the cost

      I used besta frames (192 cm tall) with glass shelves and glass doors and small besta (38cm tall) as raisers😁 looks great with led lights, can fit in up to 20 figures per column, highly recommended as an elegant, way cheaper alternative🙂

    I don’t understand why it costs so much more than detolfs. Isn’t acrylic supposed to be way cheaper than glass? Even with the addition of dust proofing and lights it should still be closer to 120 imo.

    I think with a little tweaking this case might be a great option. Slim down the black on the sides and include adjustable lights. Also, if they get better with wait times that would go a long way with the community. The more options the better so keep em coming.

    Personally (again very subjective) but I prefer the detolf for visibility, some of the shots in your video from certain angles shows figures almost completely obscured by the large black frame. Detolfs are great for my space too (just squeezed a 14th detolf into my collection room! 😂). Having said that though, the Mono looks very very classy and would look great as an accompanying display option in a Moduspace display room. Especially one figure per shelf.
    Thanks for the video, great to see the pros and cons for this display option 👍🏻

    • @WillFoxification

      Thanks my bro! Yeah, detolf is still a very nice looking case to this day. With some improvements, I think the mono can be a great complimentary case.

    Pretty much agree with everything you said. I'd slim the border and make it smooth instead of textured, dim the vertical lights and/or make a horizontal option. I'd personally want wider and/or shorter feet to make the bottom look more substantial or risers. Just ma thoughts. Thanks for the video, Will !!

    I love the way the look also if you already have the ModuCase ecosystem I think they will pair great with them only thing is if you have a bigger collection the price point vs. the amount you can fit in them may not make sense unless you like the minimalist look with one figure per shelf overall I think they are still a great compliment to a living room or somewhere else within one’s house great video very informative for ppl to make a decision 👍🏽

    Hey Will, I went from bookshelves to detalfs. I am currently using two SIXTH110s and I have 2 more on order. The moduspace SIXTH110s are by far the best. They make the collection look professional. The downside is the wait times. If they had a way for no wait time, they would be no dough the only cases most people would order. I think the new mono case is cool but I think it would be a step back after having the SIXTH110s. I also don’t like how you can't have 2 Monos next to each other with the top part sticking out.

    Great Vid Will! Moduspace looks cool but, definitely not for me. I used to get detolfs but recently made the switch and bought a white billy bookcase with glass doors, lights, and weather strips. I really like my billy more than the detolf as the white draw's in the viewer's eyes like a blank canvas to the figures. Plus it was cheaper and faster to get from IKEA compared to Moduspace.

    As someone who decided to forgo the Detolf option for Moducase, you're absolutely right that the OG Moducases are a vastly superior option, even with the Mono. I think for collectors with a smaller collection, the Mono might be a better option, certainly better than the IKEA offerings anyway. These display cases are an investment in your collection, to properly show off these works of art, and you shouldn't cheap out on what you choose to display your figures in!
    I think I'll pick up at least one of these, to properly display some of my prized figures like Gandalf and Aragorn (at least when they arrive!) and some other figures that just don't fit in with my Star Wars collection.

    I wish I had room for the big moducase displays. They look nice. You can get the same look as a moducase by customizing a garage shelf for cheaper, but I'm too lazy to do all that 🤣
    I've never been a fan of detolfs or similar displays, I like horizontal space over vertical space.

    Shame that the width is smaller than the detolf.
    Are the included leds not dimmable at all ?
    Glass shelves and dimmable lights would greatly improve it overall imo.

  • @SuileDearg
    @SuileDearg 3 месяца назад +1

    The new case does seem nice, I would end up trying to install overhead lighting in them though. That would make my figure placement very permanent though. I mainly collect 1/8th and 1/7th scales and own one Gecco 1/6th, last year I got into Gunpla and I was already limited with display slots. I haven't built any of my 1/100 Gunpla because of no protected shelving is available, so boxes are stacking up.
    I own two SIXTH98 units with two clear shelves per unit stacked and a OG Detolf. I really enjoy my Sixth98s but $600ish is costly and the wait time just to expand the setup one colum at a time, since its all I can afford, is not great. I think the Monospace is a bit to costly for Gunpla, especially if I cannot display the MGEX Strike Freedom with the Dragoon wing system fully extended but for scales they sound nice, unless displaying duo figures (Pyra/Mythra). Though for 1/3rd more the cost of the SIXTH98 setup I have I could own 3 Monospace units. Expanding three at a time, maybe a total of 9-12 units, would be more advantageous than a single column of stacked SIXTH98s.

    I have 4 Blalidens and love them, also note the black border is thinner than the Mono so the viewing angle is a little better. Buy nice or buy twice? well personally I rather buy 3 Blalidens for the price of one Mono and havent had any issues with them. I do however like that Mono has built in lights, although as you said lighting at the sides isnt as good as lighting from the top.

    As a very, very new collector I was planning on going all in with detolfs, but the discontinued status made that an easy 'no'. I looked at moduspace offerings, but if the choice is a) grow my collection or b) buy a case, I'd err on side of the collection (I know reasonable folks can disagree). So, that sent me searching and I came across a very good tutorial on how to make the blaliden into a really solid sixth-scale display case and I've decided to put my eggs into that basket. Sure, if I someday win the lotto or have lots of disposable income (or if my collection stops growing), then I could see myself making the one-time investment in a few moduspace cabinets. But the odds of that are small haha.

    • @WillFoxification

      Asking the important questions. Bryan did actually send me the updated front door, yes. He sent me the lights to stick to the front that are thinner but my set actually broke. He's going to send me some lights that can be installed horizontally because I think it'll look better. The new door is much better. He sent me the acrylic shelves too and those are also super cool. Aside from the price whole appeal of detolf is the all glass see through. All that black framing and solid wood shelves are blocking views. 1/6 Figures don't need a solid wood shelf, because they don't weigh much; the detolf glass shelves were perfectly fine. Not a fan of these detolf replacements both ikea and moduspace are offering.

  • @adamdoom89
    @adamdoom89 4 месяца назад +1

    This is what i think about it. My issue is the Mono is not very appealing to the eyes. When you look at someone's collection, your eyes immediately go to the display case. That's what makes or breaks a collection for me. The Bezels are straight up ugly and too thick. The shelves are not see through so you lose visibility which at least the blaliden has both. This doesn't even compare to the Detolfs so if you already have them then no point in upgrading to these. The price point is a bit silly, $220 plus tax/shipping no thanks. They had a chance to do something great now that the Detolfs are gone but imo they missed the mark completely in terms or design and price.
