Little Mac's not even that short. He's only 5' 7'', which is just a little below average. Not only that, but Little Mac is very muscular, to the point where it looks a bit exaggerated (see his Sm4sh model). Little Mac training as much as he does is normal for boxers, at least for the ones who take the sport seriously. One last thing that goes against this theory is Title Defense mode. As seen in the cutscenes before some of the fights, some of the boxers are genuinely angry that they lost to Little Mac, some will even cheat to try and beat him, like Aran Ryan and Bear Hugger. Why would they be mad if they knew that this was a staged event? This theory has way too many holes in it for it to be taken seriously.
Pencil Warrior lol that's a very good point but they might be actually embarrassed and not in the mood of thinking this is a child that needs help and they want to redeem theselfs
My theory is that Little Mac is an actual boxer in a fictional world where he fights against silly stereotypes full of personality. He makes it to the top and eventually retires from multiple losses, leaving behind his legacy. Oh wait, that's what the game's story is.
Okay, two problems I have with this theory. 1. On this very channel, there was already a theory that Little Mac was delusional, and that makes one of them wrong. 2. The extra boss for this game is SPOILERS Donkey Kong. While he is smart for a gorilla, I doubt he has enough sympathy for a dying child to throw a fight.
Remember these are theorys of a fake video game world. None of these are proven true and will have problems with them. The point is they're really neat to think about.
ace 157 I agree. But again, he made one on Punch Out already that contradicts this one. Plus, he said he likes it when his fans think and make discussions instead of taking what he said as fact.
Little Mac is only 5'7. He's not that short. I've even seen a video on the internet of a 5'5 mma fighter beating up a 6'6 internet troll, so size doesn't always matter when fighting.
Ccreyescr To give you something to think about. Floyd Mayweather - 5' 8 Manny Pacquiao - 5' 5 And nobody calling them short, that if you want to keep all of your teethes.
ruth mcnally Which makes sense since Tyson is 5'10. The reason is they didn't want to use the Wire Frame the original Punch Out Arcade uses, so they shrunk Mac.
pants and belts dont go together anymore we will set a trend where people shoot each other in the face trying to get belts while they're all wearing no pants and trying to win over some other woman by fapping
Cayden Lewis Considering that little mac has the build of a body builder even despite his height and he can run at speed and distances of a peak human.I have no M.D but he did say this usually affects the legs of which little mac can use perfectly and even better than most people. Coupled with the fact that the game shows that after they lose they go of to train(or cheat) which they wouldn't have to do if throwing there matches and the fact that he fights the champ(sandman or donkey kong more recently) and he doesn't hold back this theory is really far fetched.
this is the most stretched out and forced theory I've ever heard. what kind of boxer or any athlete doesn't train incredibly hard. and your height does not affect how big your muscles can be.
TheSlam899 it does. Some guy that's 6' 8 and ripped has bigger muscles than a guy that's 5' 8 and ripped their arms are bigger so therefore their muscles will be bigger.
Gnoggin This could also tie in with the "Mac's Last Stand" - an endurance gamemode unlocked after clearing Title Defence and beating Donkey Kong. You are only allowed 2 match losses, and after the third... the file is locked. Not playable again. Combine this with the end cutscene of Coach reminiscing over the time he spent with Mac, it kind of completes the theory.
As a sufferer of MD, may I say that this is an interesting theory. The type of MD seemingly referred to in this video is that of either Beckers or Duchennes, both of which do tend to kill the sufferer very early. As far as I know it would be very difficult to get Mac's level of muscle mass with said condition, but at the same time, he is a cartoon character. Of course he's going to be slightly exaggerated, and in comparison to the other boxers, he is still incredibly small.
The problem I have with this theory is that several boxers in Punch-Out!! try to cheat their way into beating Mac. That seems kinda ridiculous for people trying to go easy on him.
Personally, I don't buy it, considering that Lil' Mac can uppercut Bowser into the stratosphere with a star punch. But it would make those jerks seem like better people. (Except Aran Ryan, that guy's a D-bag)
Brandon Pierce To be fair in Smash you get the likes of Olimar (who's no bigger than a bottle cap) somehow going against Ganondorf completely fine. Or a normal human like Marth fighting against Donkey Kong who's strong enough to punch the Moon down to Earth and yet Marth doesn't splatter into a million pieces when punched by DK. Smash shouldn't ever really be taken as anything actually canon to the Nintendo characters V:
Cal DW lol yeah bit unfair to use smash bros as a comparison since they are actually toy figures bring to life and are balanced to handle each others abilities
I heard a true story of a girl who had asked for a horse, and she got one, and she got better, and then she was riding and an avalanche started, and she got stuck under a rock, and her horse went and got help, even though it's leg had been very badly injured by the avalanche. It saved her life.
Wow, everyone seems to complain about the possibility of the theory. I think it's pretty solid and remember Smash isn't cannon so you cant make that a flaw. There are a few things that need cleaned up but after all it's just a theory... A GAME THEOR... wait, wrong channel! A GNOGGIN THEORY!
TheRealDylanator but the fighters Little Mac fights against constantly cheat, and brutally beat him. They don't show mercy. Honestly this theory would only work for Disco Kid giving Mac a warning and an advantage.
***** Not to mention the Mega Man one which blatantly ignores half the lore of Mega Man - and the core problems with the laws of Isaac Asimov. MatPat is just more entertaining. (I love both channels, by the way.)
No. You took this was too far, and overthink this. Constant training is normal for boxers. (My dad and step brother are boxers, so I know what they're suppose to do.) Keeping the muscles strong is important. If you don't work out, they'll get weak, but that weak like said on your video. Think of lot like a knife. To keep that knife sharp, you need to constantly sharpen it. If not, then it'll not cut as easily. The game itself is already cartoonie enough. It's not meant to be a realistic boxing game. Overall, this is a horrible theory, man.
You do realize that a) boxers are always training and b) there are small boxers right, also don't you think this a lille TOO sad to be real. Also nintendo NEVER even touched on little mac's health. Yet they've told us about Samus's parents being killed right in front of her. I will admit you have a couple points that make sense, this honestly seems like a fan fiction someone would write not an actual theory that has evidence to back it up.
If we assume that this theory is right, than all those brutal attacks and cheats are just show, if you know what you do, you can pull of attacks that look very strong but aren't at all.
Something that pretty much debunks you're theory here is Mike Tyson. Now, he would make sense to appear since a boxer would love Mike, but consider how DIFFUCULT he is! Either Mike Tyson's the biggest douche in the universe or everything that happens in Punch-Out is 100% real.
" And so, the boxers go easy on little mac. " *insert all TD mode fighters, Career mode Great Tiger, Bald Bull, Soda Popinski, SMM, and Mr. Sandman here*
You dont make theorys you make fact videos on random stuff and then very shoddily link them together. Mr sandman is most definitley not going easy on make he has fucking bruises and bandages all over him and he is completely fucked. Little mac became the official champion and everyone tryed to take him on a second time trying much harder. And the whole "its just a theory" thing doesn't apply when you can point out multiple VERY obvious flaws in the theory.
My theory is that this is true. However Mac was supposed to stop at most, Super Macho Man and was not supposed to fight Sandman (because he is the world champion which would completely throw the boxing community into a frenzy). But he did anyway resulting in the WVBA allowing all the fighters to rematch little Mac and the make a wish foundation telling all of the boxers to not play nice anymore. Boxers become stronger and start to cheat a lot more than usual which the WVBA ignores because little macs gotta go. Some of the boxers still go while not as easy still will attempt to put little Mac into a coma. (The boxers which are being nice are glass joe and disco kid) after all of them fail little Mac gets the memo and says three losses and he’s out. Over time he becomes weaker and weaker until he eventually loses three times to the multiple rematch’s he’s had to do. Doc Louis was being incredibly kind to Little Mac which kept him going for longer. That’s what I think anyways.
When Little Mac's face was shown on the hospital bed my allergies started making my eyes tear up so now there's a picture of me on Facebook crying to a dying Little Mac
See, I personally always thought that his constant need to train was because boxing is an extremely physical profession, thus making him want to constantly be in the best shape, so he can win fights, not because he was sick.
I have 2 slightly big problems with this theory: 1st: Mac doesn't look very weakened, no matter how much he trains, someone with that kind of muscualr disease would never get as muscular as Mac is, not to mention, for someone with a disease that beging with weakness in the legs, he seems to move very fast with them. 2nd: "Little" Mac isn't really that little, according to most sources he's stands at 5'7'', and statistics say the average male height is 5'9''... as far as I know, 2 inches below average isn't even short.
TBH if this is true then explain what some of the punch out wii boxers say. "Go tell him to drink his mother's milk!" "Hey doc! Are you teaching him how to get spanked!?"
This could have worked if you maybe mentioned the problem with him being a bantamweight(IIRC), which makes sense because he normally couldn't fight heavyweights. Boxers work out that hard anyway, that's not something just Mac does lol.
After watching this again two years later it's starting to be believable, since Mac did die in Nintendo's POV... *we need a new Punch Out Game, like, now.*
I hate almost all gnoggins "theories" Quote on quote symbolism in games are the laziest ways to make theories. Here, "PHOENIX WRIGHT IS ACTUALLLY FIGHTING HIS INNDER DEMONS BCUZ JAIL REPRESENTS DEATH AND HE DSNT SANT ANYONE TO DIE ;(((" Little mac, is little mac. Just a boxer.
Dick Gumshoe Thanks for understanding my opinion gumshoe. Plus, the existance of not-so-little mac just breaks this theory. (I wouldent say thanks dick lmao)
I don't think so. If Mac was dying, and Make A Wish did do this, they would have just have him face off against the champion in a fix fight for sure, but they wouldn't have bothered with everyone at the bottom.
This is a great video, but the only problem is that some of the other boxers don't take it easy. They sometimes tend to even make fun of Little Mac for being so short.
For some reason, I feel more like this was some kind of video slightly trying to advertise the Make a Wish foundation. I know Gnoggin talks about many of these charity and happy organizations on some videos, but even though I liked the theory, it kinda feels like it. But you know what? It's a nice theory, even if people are saying it's bad, I don't think it is, and it's nice to learn some stuff about health problems (even if it's very vague), I enjoy learning things.
Have you forgotten Mike Tyson? The dude gives no mercy to Mac, even if he's disabled. Mac really has a strong heart if he can keep up with Mike Tyson, and have it not be staged. Refer to MatPat, because I'm not paraphrasing here,
5’7 is the international average height 5’10 is the american average(both statistics for men) But 6 feet and a little above is still very common in America
one thing that got me thinking in punch out, when little mac first appeared he was 4ft, now he is 5.7ft and it all happened in the age 17 so there is still some explaining to do.
And with that they beat him and Mac looses his champion title like any other champion that goes into Title Defense...
Hero King Marth yes finally, someone with common sense, thanks Marth
Hero King Marth Fair point, although my other points still stand.
Hero King Marth so your telling me professional boxers would seek revenge against a sick dying child!?!?!
Pencil Warrior lol that's a very good point but they might be actually embarrassed and not in the mood of thinking this is a child that needs help and they want to redeem theselfs
Eh, i prefer the theory where Little Mac is fighting his weaknesses.

Small correction. It wasn't that they didn't want the wireframe, they just couldn't use it on the NES due to hardware limitations.

You got 2 theorys on little mac so far, both seemed VERY far fetched...
Spiked Blueshell I dont know how, can you please tell me the flaws in this theory?
Cayden Lewis He didn't say there were any flaws... he just said far-fetched.
Cayden Lewis Mac is over four feet in the wii game. That's pretty normal.
BinTV Entertainment I have MD and this doesn't sound to far-fetched. Research it and you can find out how hard it is to live with it.
Cayden Lewis Considering that little mac has the build of a body builder even despite his height and he can run at speed and distances of a peak human.I have no M.D but he did say this usually affects the legs of which little mac can use perfectly and even better than most people. Oooookay, that was unexpectedly sad.
This might also be why it says when you get the TRUE ending,
"So, little Mac left the ring."
The problem I have with this theory is that several boxers in Punch-Out!! try to cheat their way into beating Mac. That seems kinda ridiculous for people trying to go easy on him.
I'm sorry this is just large leaps in logic without using words like "I theorize" or "it's my belief that."
How disco kid says "here it comes" is very nice and kinda sounds like he is talking to a child and being very friendly , furthering the theory.
so he's dying... because he's short? ok seems legit

A different Punch-Out!! Theory. Just something to think about.
What if Glass Joe is actually the strongest fighter but is just going the easiest?
Wow, everyone seems to complain about the possibility of the theory.

link them together.
Mr sandman is most definitley not going easy on make he has fucking bruises and bandages all over him and he is completely fucked.
Little mac became the official champion and everyone tryed to take him on a second time trying much harder.

My theory is that this is true. - He's short (5 foot 7)
- He trains to win, crazy right??
yeah definitely dying.
No actually wait, another thing, I think it would be super cute if these giant boxers do their exaggerated KO thing just to make Mac happy.
When Little Mac's face was shown on the hospital bed my allergies started making my eyes tear up so now there's a picture of me on Facebook crying to a dying Little Mac
I'm not sure I buy it, but it's always interesting to know more about things I didn't know about before, such as the effects of Muscular Dystrophy
Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, it could just be a standard David vs Goliath story in the boxing ring. You know... the more likely route?
Or, you know, he could just be a short boxer
i remember when i was watching this when it was 2017 when i was 7 and i was crying cuz i thought he died lmao
Is it bad that I laughed my ass of, when that linebacker sacked that little kid?
I like the idea that a huge guy like Bald Bull would do the dramatic KO just for Mac
now, one thing that makes a lot of sense in this is how little macs air ability isterrible in sm4sh... starts in the legs
He's only a boxer.
Umad Bro i know that but its just trying to defend this.... ya its a terrible theory XD
lel
It's weird, first time I don't cry, but 2nd time, I cry.
The reason Mac is short is to make the player feel like David in a David and Goliath type situation.
See, I personally always thought that his constant need to train was because boxing is an extremely physical profession, thus making him want to constantly be in the best shape, so he can win fights, not because he was sick.
It's strange how people think that Gnoggin's theories are more accurate than Game Theory, though they ignore the Punch Out theories.
The ending caught me off guard. Got a little watery eyed
I have a theory of mine! Little Mac is fighting a bunch of amateurs!
I have 2 slightly big problems with this theory:
1st: Mac doesn't look very weakened, no matter how much he trains, someone with that kind of muscualr disease would never get as muscular as Mac is, not to mention, for someone with a disease that beging with weakness in the legs, he seems to move very fast with them.
2nd: "Little" Mac isn't really that little, according to most sources he's stands at 5'7'', and statistics say the average male height is 5'9''... as far as I know, 2 inches below average isn't even short.
My favorite Make a Wish foundation moment was where some kid asked for a yugioh card to be made after him.
0:49 It's called dedication. Is Goku sickly? No, he trains all the time because he cares about fighting
2:20 Man, that's dark!
TBH if this is true then explain what some of the punch out wii boxers say.
"Go tell him to drink his mother's milk!"
"Hey doc! Are you teaching him how to get spanked!?"
Out of the Punch-Out theories out (so far), I think this one is my favorite
This could have worked if you maybe mentioned the problem with him being a bantamweight(IIRC), which makes sense because he normally couldn't fight heavyweights. Boxers work out that hard anyway, that's not something just Mac does lol.
*Doc has never finished that chocolate bar*
at 4:37 and 4:38 i was starting to cry a bit
wow... Lockstin seriously just made me cry. how doe that happen?
After watching this again two years later it's starting to be believable, since Mac did die in Nintendo's POV...
*we need a new Punch Out Game, like, now.*
I still prefer to think Little Mac is just mental.
That's what I think a bit too, pal. I don't hate Gnoggin's theories, but I don't like them either...
Dick Gumshoe Thanks for understanding my opinion gumshoe. Plus, the existance of not-so-little mac just breaks this theory. (I wouldent say thanks dick lmao)
Jack Love Well you're welcome, I guess... And thanks for not calling me Dick, pal!
This theory makes sense because of the end of Punch Out for the Wii when they make a memorial for Little Mac.
This sounds like a very well-written and properly thought up.... creepypasta.
Little Mac is an average tall man. The other people who fight him are TITANS!!!
That ending almost made me cry.........
I don't think so.
If Mac was dying, and Make A Wish did do this, they would have just have him face off against the champion in a fix fight for sure, but they wouldn't have bothered with everyone at the bottom.
At the beginning I was like...really, SOME MUSCLES?!?!?!?!
Makes the most sense out of all your Little Mac theories.
"A theory originally developed on TVTropes.org"
Oh.
One big hole in this theory, little mac is built like wolverine, which would be impossible if he had muscular dystrophy.
This is a great video, but the only problem is that some of the other boxers don't take it easy. They sometimes tend to even make fun of Little Mac for being so short.
Does that mean that Little Mac's retirement is a metaphor for his death?
"Discount Game Theory"
This is a fun way to think of things, good job.
* leaves championship belt *
now you made the ending (if lost 3 times) look more tear jerking
Just had to put the candy bar wrapper on the grave right?

I first thought i colossal Titan was running up to little Mac xD
For some reason, I feel more like this was some kind of video slightly trying to advertise the Make a Wish foundation.
I know Gnoggin talks about many of these charity and happy organizations on some videos, but even though I liked the theory, it kinda feels like it.
But you know what? It's a nice theory, even if people are saying it's bad, I don't think it is, and it's nice to learn some stuff about health problems (even if it's very vague), I enjoy learning things.
0:44 AAAHHH! TITAN! DEFEND THE WALLS!
That was kind of depressing... my favorite nintendo character is dying and the make a wish foundation is helping him... wow
Nah, I'm fine
Or am I? Dun dun dun!
Wow, this ended WAY more sadly than I had thought it would
That ending was sad where doc tells mac you did good then he passes away
Have you forgotten Mike Tyson? The dude gives no mercy to Mac, even if he's disabled. Mac really has a strong heart if he can keep up with Mike Tyson, and have it not be staged. Refer to MatPat, because I'm not paraphrasing here,
I think this is more of a head canon then a theory
Mac, isn't that small. He's 5'7.
ThatOneShadowChao I'll be 5 foot 5 inches so does that mean I get a belt too?
5’7 is the international average height
5’10 is the american average(both statistics for men)
But 6 feet and a little above is still very common in America
this is less a theory and more a "this is how I think this game works."
You REALLY think Mike Tyson was going easy.
You REALLY THINK.
one thing that got me thinking in punch out, when little mac first appeared he was 4ft, now he is 5.7ft and it all happened in the age 17 so there is still some explaining to do.
