The original players of the Lute used to stand playing the interment using a strap. This is probably the reason for the creation of the Guitar so as to allow you to play while setting. The curve added to the side of the guitar was made to rest comfortably on ones knee.

Foam. Use a piece of foam. When I was little I asked mom to take me to a guitar school. The teacher said my hands were too small, "Perhaps he should try this first and switch to guitar a few years down the line". And he handed me a domra. That's essentially an Eastern European version of a 4-string mandolin, but it's shaped like a lute and suffers from the same body sliding problem. And we used foam like you'd find in packaging of fragile electronics and such (or a least if was very common in the '90s). After a few years I quit the music school never switching to guitar. Many years later I taught myself to play guitar anyway.

both the guitar and oud have the same string length (57-60) cm. however the oud neck is one third of the string length, but the guitar neck is half the the string length... so what happens when blend the two instruments? the bridge location on the oud bowl will slide more to the middle of the bowl... in traditional ouds the bridge is supposed to be closer to the deepest point of the bowl, but here it is not... however the sound is good, but I would like to see if there is fretless double stringed versions of this.

The tone on this particular guitar lute sucks, but it got me to order one from Muzikkon. I've played classical guitar since the age of 5 and own classical instruments from Spanish luthiers like José Ramírez. The lute I got wasn't the cheapest, but it sounds quite good. It is beautifully decorated with the wooden head of a lady in the headstock. I love it that it looks just like my wife.
I threw some Aquila Ambra 900 strings on it and the tone is quite intoxicating. It does not sound like a regular classical guitar. But this video got me looking into guitar lutes, so thank you!

Sounds like a mid-range classical guitar to me, maybe a bit thinner. I wouldn't buy one over a standard guitar for tone. I would 100% buy one for the aesthetic though. I can imagine that guitar on a stage doing folk, early classical, or bardcore and I absolutely want one just for the way it looks. Muzikkon have a few which are pricey but they've got a carved head on the headstock and everything 🤤
