Prof could you explain how umazawa’s Jitte is better than Lost Jitte? Lost jitte is cheaper to equip and you can untap lands with it allowing additional plays on turns you wouldn’t have enough mana. It gets really out of hand with doublestrike

Im sorry yall. Back in 2020 i was telling people how opening packs was a better gambling than scratchoffs cuz atleast i keep cards to play with... someone mustve heard me.

A happy Prof means happy fans! If you need to take time away then do it! Burnout at any career is real no matter how passionate about it you are, so taking steps to make sure you’re healthy and still enjoying what you do is very important!

The foil curl has gotten MUCH better the last couple sets. I've noticed both Fallout and Thunder have barely ANY curl as far as I've seen
Oddly my foils have started curling forwards instead of backwards this set
@gremlinbd yeah, I noticed that with Fallout (haven’t purchased any OTJ so cant speak on that). I was so disappointed with the curling in the LOTR set (especially the cold/silver foils of the Scroll treatment cards). But with the few Fallout foils I have handled I was surprised to see no curling.
@Fragoo22 it seems they're still working on it... I still get some curl, it's just not nearly as bad. My stacks of foil lands from Eldraine were TERRIBLE
My packs from japan dont really curl but belgium and american curl still.
Thunder has the least curly foils I've ever seen.

Since we are being honest. Prof. Your channel is coming down to one of two different channels I still watch because of content burn out. Aside from to much product there is in my opinion too much content trying to make it big. You being one that absolutely sits above all with quality as well with honesty. Your hard work shows and it’s the main reason I will continue watching. I hope you do find time for yourself for rest and to be able to enjoy what you do!
When you were talking about Bloomburrow, I was so with you Prof. Growing up I loved the Redwall books so much and read every single one and just so badly want Bloomburrow to be a similarly wonderfully engaging and flushed out setting and story with cards that can convey themes and worldbuilding during play. Just seeing some of the Bloomurrow art has made me go back and start rereading some of the Redwall books which I own!
well except you're forgetting how they'll have to cram LOOT, KEY TO EVERYTHING into the set! That's going to be painful to watch.
Prof, your videos served as an entry point for me in MTG, and they've helped me return. Take a few days, maybe even a week or two, mental health is just as important as physical health, and you truly do deserve the break.
I like videos like this where we get to sit down with Prof just talking about magic as a product, and more importantly, as a game and hobby that many of us enjoy and how it's ups and downs mingle. It's nice hearing it from someone whose been around the hobby for so long, mood is chill and the dialogue happening is engaging too. Thank you Prof!
The full art lands from OTJ might be some of the best full art lands they have made. They are simply stunning and I love the way they work the mana symbols into the art.

This set is a rootin' tootin' good time partner. This set brought more of my friends out of the woodwork to play than any other set in a long time.
Thank you for the very honest discussion about Outlaws of thunder Junction. As a new commander player it is TOUGH to get into a particular set, and I don't really see myself buying multiple commander decks outside of very few things I am familiar with and there are WAY too many commander precons. Thank you again for taking the time to discuss sets in this and other videos! Also please take a break if you feel you need to!

to answer that question about how far back we can remember sets, its not really fair for me since i started playing with lord of the rings
13:30 i do like the ouns on "Thornado" and "Holy Cow" :D this and some truly feep bits of lore kr wisdom/philosophy in flavor texts (or sometimes rven the art itself) is one kf the major reasons i do kove Magic (rather than just liking the game)
The full art lands for this set are gorgeous, im trying to replace all the basics in my main commander decks with them

Hey Prof! I just wanted to let you know I love your videos! It was so crazy to me that you started doing what you're doing because of LRR. You and LRR are the channels that kept me interested in MTG. The state I live in has an extremely toxic MTG community, and both your channels kept me hopeful that I could find good people to play MTG with.

I like how even after mentioning MKM and UB: Fallout quite a bit, the Prof even forgets to mention them when he's going back through the sets.

Prof as a draft player I'd like to say that OTJ is actually a really fun draft experience and the bonus sheets add a lot of replayability and fun build arounds.
Love your videos. This is another one of those sets that you hope for the high ones to make even any kind of value to it. For myself, I'm enjoying the art and different styles. I'm really waiting for Bloomburrow. Not much interest in MH3 at it's price point for me. Lucky to buy a box 2 - 3 times a year when i can afford it, so for me as a very casual kitchen table player, I tend to collect for the artwork, shiny stuff, and the like.
21:20 It gets so fuzzy pre Dominaria United and the whole Phyrexian invasion arc. Even then, I can remember more or less all the standard sets but forgot Double Masters 2022 and Commander Masters until I cross checked with Scryfall. I was a pandemic player, starting to get into Magic with Midnight Hunt, and it's staggering how much product has come out since I started.

I'm 41. I got back into magic via arena when Kaldheim was current. I can name set releases back to Throne of Eldraine, because it was in standard at the time. Minus all the promo and very tiny sets, bonus sheets, etc.
I’ve been out of the game, except for the most recent commander play; since 2009. I played standard 2003-2008 with my best deck build during Ravnica and Time Spiral Blocks. Our LGS had a singleton format for decks of each color, 5 color, 5 color gold, and artifact decks of 60 cards back in the day, with a challenge format to that…
Tried to remember previous sets from memory. Made it back to Wilds of Eldraine before I lost the release pattern.

I honestly havn't bought a MTG product since the 30th anniversary, it was such a slap to the player base and told me exactly what they care about.
Coming back after so many years it kinda feels like I’m looking at the game through a warped glass. Not sure I how I feel about the crossover sets and a lot of the modern sets in general. Kinda cool there’s a lot of new card art styles!
These are the best videos imo, i dont care at allll about price stuff. But it gives that nice podcasty, chat video feel.
I just call the set universes beyond borderlands and I honestly wasn't disappointed. Both prereleases were a lot of fun and the set tickled my Texas sense quite well

That was very similar to my box. Foil Mana Drain and a Showcase Synthesizer (non-foil for me though). I think foil Jace and Oko were my only other money cards, but I ended positive at least.

As a new Magic player who’s been playing a lot of limited in order to learn the game in a Semi-Low Stakes environment I feel like this set has been really exciting. Makes Pick 1’s feel much more like a choice that you have to make rather than just locking onto whatever mythic is in the pack.

that simulacrum synthesizer tho! i play it on arena in a white blue artifact deck and it is INSANE its the first deck i created that made it to platinum really fast. however the deck has its limitations because of the time it takes to make use of it. but once you get there its almost impossible to lose
I watched the commander video vs ex proplayers and cringed at all the jokes, that was super fun (Im still crying about the mind goblin situation), so when I heard the "overworked and old" with that tone of saddness it bothered me.
I've been on the internet daily pretty much for the last 15 years, and I have been able to appreciate who does a good show, and what putting time and care into a performance looks like.
YOU do an amazing job at putting out information for more casually involved people like me, and on top of that put on a show with all those terrible jokes and tricks that I love to see. I forget what video it was that you started with an awkward intro speaking as a cowboy, and I LOVED IT, just like I like your manerism in the way they keep me engage on the theme.
We cant un-overwork you, but just know (and everyone behind the cameras) that just as much as you are working, we are appreciating and enjoying it, it's not for nothing.
And I hope you keep wearing your ridiculously colorful AWESOME suits and ties, with that same energy!
I just won a foil full art pest control from TCGLoves's RUclips giveaway yesterday. Im pretty stoked to see it show up in the mail.
Been very actively playing MTG for the last year, and there has been no major product I have completely skipped. At the very least I've bought some singles from every release, and for many releases I've bought Commander precons and/or boosters as well. I was pretty confident I could rattle off all the releases for this time frame for your challenge at the very least. Well, turns out, I couldn't remember Ravnica Remastered or Wilds of Eldraine. And I even opened a full booster box of Wilds of Eldraine just last Fall yet I had no recollection of the set when I was "put on the spot".
I was not a huge fan of this set, but somehow I got a decent amount of the cards... man they know how to pull you in!

I love the cowboy setting Iove the theme xD and I have to say i also disagree that play boosters are bad for draft. The last was but now with the changed way they do boosters the cards seem much more fun
