Great fun Ryan! in the ‘70s living in Southern California, I would do the same thing in my used FJ-40 Land Cruiser. Ran all over the desert and the Sierras. No SatNav of course. The trick was to take the most well traveled trail at each fork and see where you ended up. Sometimes an old mine, ghost town, lake, or even just a view. Plus, I didn’t have to worry about the paint. 😊. Thanks for bringing me along and for the memories.
The last time we were out there, we went the more populated Mt. Rainier way through Yakima and a few other towns. Next trip will be to the Olympic Mountains. Can't wait. Thanks for this drive through the forest. My happy place
Great video. I do miss the Olympics after living in Silverdale for 10 years and road-tripping into them at least one weekend a month…when there wasn’t snow.
Nothing makes me want to get in the car and go explore than your videos like this. Living in the flat area of South Carolina, I can only get views like this on youtube or after driving for 5 hours or so, so I appreciate it!
if you look at the figures the tacoma outsells the new ranger over 3x. the 4runner sells about half the tacoma. so you could predict the everest would sell about half the ranger which is a pretty low figure (max 50k a year pre covid). maybe the dealerships just can't keep rangers in stock? but i doubt it. the everest is a very cool ride but it's probably not worth the risk for the ford bean counters. especially with the release of the new bronco which is selling 90% of what the 4runner is doing.
I find it incredible that in so many miles and side roads you didn’t encounter an opposite coming vehicle! Could have been tight! 😅 Great video all around, Ryan, in a great, albeit very expensive vehicle!
The upcoming Crosstrek and Forester "strong hybrids" are going to have nearly 700 miles if range, insane mpg and is plenty capable of this kind of offroading (not rock crawling of course which this isnt really designed for either). 😂
Go find Wynoochee Falls! Been where you drove many times over the decades. Grew up in that area. Three Peaks was in better shape many years ago, but mostly motorcycles go there now. I say, “mostly,” as I ran into a guy coming down from it this last July 2024 who said he crossed over it. Wynoochee Lake has campgrounds and massive day use area too. And, if you can find Wynoochee Falls, well, …amazing.
Thanks Ryan! I’ve been exploring a lot in that area with my Bronco Sport. I have the pinstriping to prove it!😅. Great footage and commentary. I so appreciate the work you put into the editing, mix of camera angles, dramatic background music and drone footage. Haven’t done Three Peaks yet but next on my list. You’re not missing out much. They tried to convince me to trade in saying this is the same size as a 4runner, but with a much higher price tag and a smaller engine, people are smoking some serious stuff justifying buying this vehicle 😂
@@krebgurfson5732 Its nice but ill save the word gorgeous for the luxury vehicles in its price range. I just found the materials quite cheap and thin in this. Most fun I've had off roading was with a 1981 Subaru GL wagon with Lo range, its light weight allowed me to float over terrain that heavier vehicles would bog down in. Only paid $1800 for it, but eventually I wanted more comfort and "upgraded" to a 1991 Legacy wagon.
