Hi!!!😁 I'm from Colombia and I would like to travel to Canada and The United States of America to improve my english language skills. The same that you did by using english.
😎 Saludos Alina desde Cúcuta, Colombia 🇨🇴 Me alegra mucho que quieras aprender Español, yo te empecé a seguir desde hace 2 años para mejorar mi Inglés. Greetings, welcome to Colombia.
Hi Alina! While French is one of Canada's two official languages, Spanish is unofficially the second language in the USA - and gaining in usage and popularity. As a resident of the USA, I need to work on my Spanish skills. My Lithuanian-Catholic upbringing in Montréal (French all around, Latin in high school) gives me some basic understanding and fluency with the Romance languages. I am most fluent in French, but reading text in Italian, Spanish or Portuguese - I can get the gist of things. But I want and need to become a more fluent speaker of Spanish!
Yes, and given the Democrat party's encouragement of illegal immigration from Mexico and Central America Spanish is becoming more and more commonplace throughout the USA.
I discovered you yesterday when 2goroam replied to one of my comments and suggested I check out your channel. I love your content and signed up for a lifetime of learning with Rosetta Stone. I started my Spanish journey today! Can't wait to see where I'll be this time next year. Thanks!
As a Spanish speaker here I might be a littler biased but I think Spanish is one of the easiest languages to learn for English speakers. I think the hardest part will be getting a handle on the pronouns but if you're not after C level fluency its no big deal. You're correct that people will be very appreciative of your efforts to speak Spanish and will be more willing to help you. Please be safe in your travels! Cheers!
Yes. Trying to learn Spanish and Russian ...Spanish is much easier as mostly the same alphabet and many common words spelled the same. I would guess what I learn in Spanish takes 3x as long in Russian.
@Supernova. I agree. Because how the words are spelled are the same as pronounced. Good thing we were colonized by Spain & had compulsory units while in university then, the Spanish learned is still helpful. Unlike when I studied French, I must learn and cultivate in my speaking the rolled "R" and nasal tones. When I studied Mandarin, it's the same Pinyin spelling but denotes many different meanings just by pronunciation. And when I learned Nihongo, there are pronounced words that is very different in the spelling using the alphabet. But now I have not been using to converse with someone who speaks the same, I forgot some but can still manage simple ones to express myself. In Brazil most people know English in the city, unless going to rural areas.
The easiest would be Norwegian. It is the closest related language to English. Norwegian doesn't have as many loan words from French and German as Swedish and Danish. That said Norwegian has Aaaaa lot of dialects and there is no point in learning it as it is only spoken in Norway.
Alina, you’re right in that English is less widely spoken and understood in South America than say in Europe. But with a very basic level of Spanish you can get around and have a great time traveling throughout Latin America. People are super friendly and will appreciate any attempt by you to communicate in their language. You’ll have no problems at all. Have a great trip!
Hi Alina 🌞 - I learned Spanish in High School & have found it very useful in communicating throughout my journeys in the 🇺🇸. It's definitely the second language of my country. 👋
In our experience we have seen the smile that people get when you speak to them in their native language, even if you just know a few words. Kudos to you for getting Rosetta Stone, so you can dive into Spanish!
Hola Alina! Cómo estás! 😄🙏👋🌟 I hope your having a wonderful fantastic day! This is really a magnificent fantastic video! 😁👍❤️👏🇨🇴📹🥇💯✨🌟 I am really happy you are learning to speak Spanish Alina. Congratulations on continuing your journey of learning Spanish! I've been trying to learn it for over a decade (a little at a time). Rosetta Stone seems like a great resource!
Hello Alina I'm new in this community , I will move to Canada in a few months, I'm learning and listening your native English .... Many thanks for your videos ....
Hi Alina you are a global citizen as you speak multiple languages. Not only are you beautiful you are also courageous traveling alone in Colombia. Much respect and admiration here in the Philippines.
Bienvenida a Colombia y a Hispanoamerica..además del segundo idioma más hablado del mundo. .nuestra historia y cultura hispana es también una de las más antiguas y ricas del mundo.
Whilst knowing you'll never see this, the best lesson I had 15 years ago learning Spanish, was that the sound of vowels never changes. Unlike English. It's short , sharp and constant. (unless you have an acute accent over the vowel, which only makes the same sound slightly longer). I don't know for others, but it certainly helped me.

Good morning Alina, I hope you will learn a lot of Spanish. I'm hispanic and I live in Miami (born and raised) so Spanish is a must over here. My dad is from Colombia 🇨🇴 and my mom is from Honduras 🇭🇳
I lived in Texas all my life where half of the population is of Mexican/Hispanic descent. I wouldn't say that Spanish is a must here but rather helpful. Why would Spanish be a "must" in Miami?
@@AlinaMcleod Over here the students are taught to learn a second language and Spanish is one of them but other languages are also offered such as French, German, Italian, etc but I would say Spanish is the most common one to learn. Since Miami is the Capital of Latin America, we have a lot of Hispanics and lots of latin vibes here which is why I say it's a must. It's helpful but it's always recommended

For the lifestyle you have chosen Alina, I say yes to learning as much as possible and am happy to see you take this on. I am glad you arrived safely to Colombia. 💚🤍

I am from Brazil and live in USA, I'm fluent in Spanish, i learned the language in 30 days by myself while also going to school to learn English at the same time. I used to live in California in a huge Spanic community, most Mexicans, and i was the only Brazilian in town in the area where I live, so to live in a city where the majority of the neighbors speak Spanish helped me a lot. The Mexicans holds a very special place in my heart. I no longer live in California, but travel there to visit friends once in awhile.❤

Hey right on! Glad to hear you're expanding your horizons! When I was learning Spanish in school, my teacher mentioned it's helpful to know some medical vocab and phrases. Such as my stomach hurts, where's the pharmacy, etc. Little things that can help you get around in emergency situations

you should try "the lost city" near to Santa Marta, there is a good indigenous perspective, not only spanish perspective of Colombia. it's like Machupicchu but little.
Big budget video, filmed on three continents 🙂 Very impressed that you managed to fit this into what was already such a busy month. Good luck with the Spanish, and enjoy Colombia!
I can speak Spanish fluently. Took 2 years of it in high school and 3 years in college. I find it very helpful by listening to Spanish love music by Romeo Santos, Prince Royce, Shakira, & Jeans........ Right now I am currently studying/improving both Russian and Ukrainian language. Took me little over 10 hours to learn the 33 Russian and Ukrainian alphabet through an online tutor. I would also use YT to help and also websites (language change) to read Russian and Ukrainian. Best of luck to you Alina. Spanish is a beautiful language and yes easiest to learn for sure. I so look forward to more of your YT video and hopefully I can join your lived stream sometimes which I haven't been able to do in a while. Love interacting with you on your travels.
Hello Alina, I’m Colombian, I’m happy to watch your videos and know that you liked Colombia ☺️ Yes, you were right, there aren’t many people who speak English. I’m an exception haha, I speak Portuguese and English, later wanna learn Russian and Norwegian. Kisses!
Alina you will love Colombia and sure you going to feel like your home, I hope you have a good experience and with your Spanish, one recommendation a beautiful town call Pamplona, Norte de Santander
¡Hola! Como Estás. 2 years in High School and 1 year of Spanish in College...and native speakers at normal speed...whoa 😋. I've found communicating with people helped me learn faster. Same with my limited Russian skills. I recently had a huge surprise when a contractor I was working with rattled off some fluent Russian when I told him I was struggling, but not quitting learning. He has family in Russia and Ukraine...made my day 🤗. You do not come across many Russian speakers down here in Georgia. Spanish is quite useful, especially out West where I'm from....but now almost anywhere in Estados Unidos.
Thankyou Gracias ! I have trouble with the English language ,but very interested in the Spanish connection ! Will be looking forward to following your video ! Travel ! Yes will make a purchase !
Hi Alina, some tips about Portuguese. Despite being a cousin language to Spanish it's a different one, with a lot of different words. But you can survive in Brazil with some Spanish.
I am excited to see that you are in Colombia. I was in Cartagena in 2018 and enjoyed my time there. I will hopefully be flying to Medellin, in January, and going to the colorful town of Guatape and the El Penol rock nearby. Safe travels.
I have never traveled to a foreign country without spending at least a year learning the language. Even this is insufficient, but it keeps me from being intimidated. I even learned a little Spanish for my trip to Los Angeles. Now I am learning more Spanish for a trip to Argentina. The pandemic is keeping me from traveling, but now I have more time for these preparations.
I couldn't agree more about the importance of learning languages. I have been learning Russian for the past few years and wish every day that I had learned it (or any other language!) when I was younger. Great job on the Spanish so far!
Hola Alina . Me gusta mucho que usted aprende idioma espanol . Yo aprendo idioma russo y espanol por 8 meses . Gracias para ti que You show spanish speaking countries . :)
Hi Alina. This is Glenn from Florida. I saw your vlog tonight and watched it with much interest. I used Rosetta Stone prior to going to Spain a number of years ago. Unfortunately, I did not start early enough and struggled there. I did just get back several weeks ago from Guatemala. Interestingly enough, my high school Spanish seemed to serve me well and was mostly able to get by. I am impressed that you are learning a new language. My question to you is why not continue your Spanish language skills in Central or South America before going on to Brazil to tackle Portuguese? It was just a thought. Thank you for all that you do. I really appreciate it and enjoy all your vlogs. Glenn from Sarasota, Florida, United States 🇺🇸
Hey Alina McLeod I'm glad to hear you speaking Spanish my original language language I'm from Nicaragua nice temperature , and you look beauty with your green t-shirt
I used Alina's link and am brushing up on my french as I have not used it in a while, then I will learn spanish and other languages. I learned German in high school and will brush up on that language as well. It is a great savings and if you want to learn new languages, a one time charge of $179 is a great deal! Good luck on your journey in Columbia this winter (so jealous as I am in cold New England)! Look forward to videos as hoping it is safe for you to shoot some good content. I know you have some concerns. If you can't walk around too much and do videos, you could always do a sit and chat in your room or a safe area to talk about your adventures. Stay well, Safe and have fun! adiós
Hi Alina, Not because I'm colombian I'm saying this but a lot of Americans say that the best country for you to learn Spanish is Colombia, the reason why is cause we speak clearly, even my American teacher said that to me years ago, good luck, greetings from USA 🇺🇲🙏🇨🇴
Wow, that’s amazing. I have the lifetime Rosetta Stone that I bought with your codes about 2 years ago or something when you went to Greece. You asked me how my learning goes when I bought it so here it goes: I already knew a lot of the vocabulary but my favourite part is the pronouciation. Learning languages is generally hard, we have to create a routine and make a habit just like going to the gym and occasionally go back to the basics. I believe if you had stayed in Kyiv, you probably would know Ukrainian by now if that was something you would want.
Excited to see your South American adventure! I'm learning Russian on and off. It's my favourite language and country. Also on and off Bulgarian as I will probably retire there.
Being bi-lingual (Russian/English) provides you with a strong foundation to learn other languages. An individual who speaks multiple languages has in increase capacity to learn and in general to adapt to new challenges. Good luck in Colombia; it's a beautiful country.
I also learned how to speak the language of the country I grew up in at 5-6 and I remember that I hardly talked for 6 months untill I got it and then I started speaking
Hello Alina, good morning, if you go to Brazil it is a wonderful country, the people are very kind, I worked in Brazil, and I fell in love with that country ,, I recommend it ,,, I plan to return to Brazil it makes us feel at home, ,, The pronunciation of Spanish differs a bit, since most of the pronunciation is nasogutural ,,,, but Brazil has thousands of people who also speak English ,,, a hug from Bogota ... to my Ukrainian presiosa.
Do not worry Latinos when we see a very pretty woman we pay her compliments that is out of culture and respect, it is not strange that Brazilians also tell her that you are very beautiful, because it is true ,,,
Glad to see you learning Spanish also. I took that in High School, and still know some of the basic words and sentences to the point I can understand it. What is interesting is even talking to someone that knows Spanish when I lived in the U.S., they would spill it along with English, so now you are talking in 2 languages. That made it a lot of fun and easy to understand. And you're right, Loretta Stone course was a very good way to get introduced to the Russian language before going there. I find is still is referred to, but Alona is also a good teacher but secretive sometimes as if she doesn't want me to know what she is saying. As long as that does not come out in an argument, then I'm OK with it because she also knows English quite well and has a beautiful accent ))))). Can't wait to see your experiences in South America and I know that they will be the best because the shares will be the best as they all come from your eyes giving us a show. Stay safe, and thanks for sharing and always making sure we all know you are safe and smiling. Cheers!!
Actually Alina as a Latino Canadian who has worked quite extensively in Eastern Europe (I even have a Slavic first name😊) I can tell you that it will be easier for you phonetically if you already speak Russian to pronounce Spanish as opposed to the standard gringo:) I hope you enjoy your trip and if you end up in Brazil/Ecuador or Chile I am happy to give you tips:)
Hi Alina! I have been to 103 countries (or 104 if you count Kosovo). I currently live in Russia. I fully agree with you on the importance and fun of learning languages. I speak Russian, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Ukrainian and Hebrew (in descending order of fluency). Never been to Columbia though. In fact I have only been to Peru and Argentina in South America. I am also thinking of going to Brazil this April. Good luck with Spanish and your trip to South America.
Alina, not only pretty but you are so smart trying to learn more lenguages!! I didn't know you were from Ukrania. No wonder why you are so cute. My dear the more you learn better!!
This was an interesting video for me.. 51 yo guy in Western Canada. Had a bit of the travel bug 15 yrs ago. Started learning Spanish at age 38. I have a good base, but not fluent. Now I'm learning Russian. It's neat to compare the 2 languages. I think many native English speakers would be surprised at how many English words are in Russian -- once one learns Cyrilic. Cheers.
Great video! (I also speak Russian and some Polish so . . . I think if you are fluent in a Slavic language, it helps with others.) I go to CDMX and Mexico a LOT (I live in Houston, TX), and what especially helps me in Spanish is having a set of questions that I use with Uber drivers. As the traffic in CDMX is congested and notoriously slow, I always have a chance to practice my Spanish. I think I have learned more via Uber than any app. There are also free things on You Tube: sorry but, I have to mention that. Take care!
Languages are always good and lead to fun experiences. Learning thankyou in Ukrainian got me a LOT of smiles in Lviv from the toughest looking security guards! I lived in Sweden for a few years and Finland for a few months, so I was fluent in Swedish but it's kind of gone now with lack of practice. My Finnish is minimal but was useful, my rule when I'm in a country for a while is learn to count, thankyou, please, good (as in - the food tastes good!) and as many food words as I can remember. Memorable random Finnish phrase - minulla on kaunis moottorisaha - "I've got a beautiful chainsaw".
Hello Alina di. How r u I guess that's why you're going to go around so much during this Covid so there's no problem? Rotate carefully all the time. God bless you. You are fine.
A key difference between children and adults learning a language is the amount of leeway given to children vs adults. Children can mispronounce, mis-conjugate, and generally say silly things without scorn. That allows a base to be formed which is then refined into a more developed language. Just an observation.
Hi Alina, I know three languages but two languages I do speak daily, there is no one to speak English to which is my third language. The best way in my view to learn any language is to be in that environment or if you are not then listening is the most effective way to start by.

Alina you will love Colombia and sure you going to feel like your home, I hope you have a good experience and with your Spanish, one recommendation a beautiful town call Pamplona, Norte de Santander
Colombia is a great country to learn Spanish.
Interesting video Alina. I love your channel. Keep practicing your Spanish language. Good luck! 🙏👏🤍🤍Greetings and love from my city of Houston 🙋♀️🇨🇱
Hi, Alina: I have tested the translator provided in new iPhones. It is very convenient for traveling abroad. You have a great joy and enjoyment.
I know spanish is a big tricky for english speakers but it is a good way to learn to speak by trying...adelante...✌
Amazing alina love ur traveling please do stay safe ok
Great way to learn. I took Spanish in college and am grateful. I worked in Costa Rica and was instrumental. Looking forward to your Colombia travels.
That's awesome! I wish more schools offered language learning options.
I love ❤ vídeo. Thank you very much for the tips
¡Hola!
But you can survive in Brazil with some Spanish.
hi Alina this is emma from uganda i love your program thank you
I am excited to see that you are in Colombia. I was in Cartagena in 2018 and enjoyed my time there. I will hopefully be flying to Medellin, in January, and going to the colorful town of Guatape and the El Penol rock nearby. Safe travels.
Yes, definitely want to go there as well. Hope you have a great time!
Congratulation on the video and I wish a great day
That's great. Thanks for the information. I had always imagined a language course would be much more expensive than that.
My question to you is why not continue your Spanish language skills in Central
or South America before going on to Brazil to tackle Portuguese? It was just a thought.
Thank you for all that you do. I really appreciate it and enjoy all your vlogs.
Glenn from Sarasota, Florida, United States 🇺🇸

Good messages and Story
Thanks
Alina cordial saludo, me alegra tú estadía en América del Sur, siempre veo tus vídeos como una oportunidad de aprender inglés 😀, saludos desde Perú.
Aw that's wonderful to hear :) You're totally right in that it has to become a priority and a habit you're willing to invest in.
Welcome to Columbia Alina McLeod
I took Spanish for 5 years in high school but forgot a lot because I did not use it. I am sure I need a refresher.
Me gusta + un conjugated verb
Yes I am telling to whole world that Alina is a big one RUclips traveller 👍💌
Excited to see your South American adventure! I'm learning Russian on and off. It's my favourite language and country. Also on and off Bulgarian as I will probably retire there.
Great that You are learning spanish alina
Being bi-lingual (Russian/English) provides you with a strong foundation to learn other languages. An individual who speaks multiple languages has in increase capacity to learn and in general to adapt to new challenges. Good luck in Colombia; it's a beautiful country.
Very true, thank you!
Alina speaking in spanish was top
Do not worry Latinos when we see a very pretty woman we pay her compliments that is out of culture and respect, it is not strange that Brazilians also tell her that you are very beautiful, because it is true ,,,
Hi ma'am good evening I'm happy to see you good health and safe and still beauty ❤😊
Cheers!!
haha that's great. Glad you're putting in the effort to learn Russian!
Actually Alina as a Latino Canadian who has worked quite extensively in Eastern Europe (I even have a Slavic first name😊) I can tell you that it will be easier for you phonetically if you already speak Russian to pronounce Spanish as opposed to the standard gringo:) I hope you enjoy your trip and if you end up in Brazil/Ecuador or Chile I am happy to give you tips:)
haha thank you
Excellent 👍,I like yours voice.
Hi from Armenia Quindio Colombia.
Suena muy bien tu español,, 💋💋💐❤️
I just walked where you are walking yesterday.
Alina McLeod
Very good video clips
Thanks
That is truly amazing. Hope you check out Brazil!
That is definitely true. We need to have less embarrassment when making misakes.
I think it also has something to do with the idea that childrens' brains are more capable of absorbing language due to the way the brain develops.
Hi Alina, I know three languages but two languages I do speak daily, there is no one to speak English to which is my third language. The best way in my view to learn any language is to be in that environment or if you are not then listening is the most effective way to start by.
Very true
eres muy linda, bienvenida siempre a Colombia!!!!
