Vintage sheets is how I "met" you. I am a quilter and wanted to do a vintage sheet project - which was three quilts made from vintage sheets. One in the pink/green family. One in the yellow/orange family and one in the blue/purple family. I got many of my sheets/fabric from you and your on-line store. I have finished all three and they hang on a quilt rack together in my guest room. I love them dearly and you had just THE BEST sheets to buy and use in my quilts. I have been following you ever since.
Another idea for torn or damaged sheets you hate to part with; tear/cut into 1 inch strips from top to bottom. Knot the ends together until you have one long strip, roll into a ball and start crocheting a rug (square, rectangle or round). If you find yourself at the end and need more, just cut up another sheet and knot to end and repeat. I used 3 King size sheets to make a 3 x 4 rectangle rag rug. You will need a large crochet hook. Saw this on a YT channel a few years ago. Love your curtains!
Great video. I'm a longtime quilter but i just for the first time used a vintage sheet as a backing. It was my favorite pink and yellow daisy sheet and I just wanted to preserve it. It is soft and wonderful. Now I think I may have to try some other projects and maybe even buy more sheets!
Love your video here. Ive been collecting embroidered linens, hankies, sheets, doilies that are vintage for 22 years. At the time nobody liked vintage. Was told i wasn’t cool forever. My mom says if its ugly my daughter would love it. Was so easy to find vintage when i was 15. Now its so challenging and so over priced. Its the cool thing now. I always wanted to make clothing. Now its all over the place. But im still scared of using them to make things 🙈 i don’t want to ruin them til i am better at sewing. Like you dont sleep on vintage sheets. For me its pillow cases i hate using because sometimes my hair dye will rub off. And for sheets. My dog stains them. So I totally understand. I will have to check your other videos! Thank you!
One no-sew project I made at home was to hang 2 twin-sized duvet covers as curtains (using those hooks with grips). They work great as curtains since they already have the double layer of fabric.
Hi Emily, now that I’ve found you on you tube I just had to go back and start binge watching your previous vlogs. Such fun and colourful ideas, and your pink checked skirt, those were my sheets when I was a teen, I’m 59!
You have inspired me to start collecting vintage sheets. I seem to be able to easily find flat sheets easily. You can use a full size flat sheet on a queen size bed. However, I do use a neutral colored modern sheet as the fitted sheet.I enjoy cha night out my decor with different pillow cases of quilts. One of my daughters first sewing projects was to make a beach bag out of a vintage sheet and it is so cute!!! Side note....Your saliva will get out your blood stains. ( I know that is kind of gross...but it works 😁)
I love your colors, style, and everything about your sweet vintage home. If I didn't have a husband, my decor would be EXACTLY like yours. Unfortunately, pink is not his favorite color. Lol.
Emily thanks for sharing your love of vintage sheets ... and all things vintage! I recently found your RUclips channel and truly enjoy it. I know this video posted a quite some time ago, but I'd really like a "how to" video on making a quilt out of vintage sheets and making curtains with a liner. Thanks for your authenticity and I'm glad you're doing better! All the best!
I know what you mean about the wrap skirt! My weight fluctuates so last summer I used a vintage sheet and made a nightgown/muu-muu from a vintage pattern (but to wear for reals). I cut and used the top wide trim part as a tie belt to reign in the frumpy making it appear as a fit and flare dress! So I can weight 100-200 lbs and the dress will still fit!
Love the wrap skirt idea. I just found a young lady who sews ( by hand) and she made a 50’s style circle skirt with a tablecloth. She did say that sheets and tablecloths were great and inexpensive when bought at a thrift store
I really enjoyed this video! And I’m so glad you are repurposing the sheets. I definitely picked up a few tips. There are some things that made me laugh (at myself), the blanket you had on the back of your chair is exactly like one we had growing up (it was a new purchase)! Also I remember when fitted sheets first came in, the elastic in the corners, they were sooo fancy and modern!!! I guess I’m a vintage original!🤣😂
Great ideas. So love all them. Now when you showed those shelves in the living room with all your decor, but now removed, I was so in love. Can I suggest returning all those wonderful items, bc they were gorgeous. You and your home are darling! Such a joy to watch. Hugs
I have a metal bed too and I saw that quilt on the back of your headboard in another video & immediately made note of it! I get so many great ideas from you!
I love the shelf backing idea, and the quilt that you made is just beautiful. I have used vintage sheets in quilts before, and you do need to watch out for the integrity of the fabric when using them. I was a teenager and didn't think about how thin (worn) some of the sheets I cut up were. I have to agree about sheets that have elastic all the way around them for the fitted sheet; I have never tried Target sheets, but have gotten them elsewhere.
I love all your ideas. I have been saving vintage sheets to make a quilt. I need to get on it! I love your idea to use a flannel inside because I hate how stiff regular batting is! I tried to make a dress out of a vintage sheet using a pattern and I gave up. Maybe I should start with a skirt!. I have also made a curtain for the small window next to my front door out of a vintage pillowcase.
Your collection is beautiful. I am making cloth napkins from a top sheet that was in great shape even though the fitted sheet and the pillow cases were very worn. I’ve been saving the sheet because I knew I would find a new purpose for it!❤👍🤓
Ok, I'm shopping for those sheets now!! Loved the shelf backing and small quilt! I buy vintage tablecloths and pillowcases and frame the embroidery parts in embroidery hoops. LOVED this video!
i only like using vintage pillow cases since the vintage sheets never seem to fit my bed. plus i’m very picky about how my sheets feel so i totally get it! i love the target sheets too🙌
Oh yay I hope you can find one!!! 😄 I bet you will, there’s tons of free pianos on FB marketplace and I bet you could ask for the piano bench if no one takes the piano. Just an idea ☺️
I absolutely love these ideas. I couple of years ago I got rid of a ton of my mother-in-laws old sheets and I am so mad at myself for doing that. 😆Now I’m going to go on the hunt for some and try these ideas!
Ugh I’ve had things that I regret giving away too 😭😂 I don’t think vintage sheets are too hard to find and it gives you something to search for. Have fun 😄
Love your ideas! I've collected vintage linens for awhile. I like to use them, layer them on tables or dresser tops, slip pillow cases over the backs of wooden chairs, hung on my porch as curtains, etc. I've not cut them up yet, but will have to give that a try. Especially with ones that might have stains or holes like you said. I Subscribed and will watch some of you 'vintage' videos .😊 BTW, hydrogen peroxide gets blood out of anything. Learned when I was a medical student.
What a fun video! You have so many great ideas, and you bring sunshine to RUclips with your personality! This video brought memories of so many things my Mom and her generation did to reuse items from necessity, and it’s great to see all the ways you improve on those techniques! Donna and I just love your channel, it makes us smile! We hope to meet you at your garage / yard sale this summer! Thank you!
Awwww thank you SO much for your kind words! I’m very grateful I can reuse items for fun and not out of necessity like my grandparents had to. Can’t wait to see you at the yard sale 😄
Hi Emily, I love all your ideas of using vintage sheets for crafts. I was wondering if you made that colorful garland with the balls, I just love how colorful it is. If you did make it, could you show us how to make one. Thanks so much, Rita❤️😘🥰
I did make it! Here’s a link to an Instagram reel where I showed how I made it ☺️ you can also buy felt ball rainbow garland pretty easily too. instagram.com/reel/ClNHHXBOZUH/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I love vintage sheets. Have sooo many and am sooo anxious about cutting them up. One thing I've seen on other sites is making aprons out of them. They are adorable! But one question I have is, I'd like to use them for making bags - small cosmetic bags, larger totes - any size, but they don't seem thick enough. What can you suggest for giving them more support or structure?
Where do you find beautiful flowered vintage sheets? I thrift maybe a a little too much. I have several 100% cotton sheets of various sizes. But I have yet to come across any remarkable looking vintage sheets. You have a couple on your shelf behind you that I remember as a child that were actually on my bed.. Not those specific ones, but the patterns. Loved your video subscribed liked and will share. ❤
I don’t think I’ll do the pillow tutorial since I did exactly what the Made Everyday video did that I linked to, but I’ll keep the lamp one in mind. Thank you ☺️💕
Love your videos. I discovered those Target sheets last year and agree they are the best! The double elastic actually keeps the bottom sheet on the bed. They launder beautifully too.
it will say something like Springmaid and it will say made in the USA, usually 50 percent cotton and 50 percent poly, if it says made in china its not vintage.

You forgot #18. Just having them on display folded in a cabinet just like you have in your craft room. I think it looks great.
Hahahaha I thought about adding that one 🤣🤣🤣 But I didnt know if it was too obvious. Thanks for adding it 😂

I love the idea of using those beautiful sheets!
I popped over from one of your pins. You had me at vintage sheets.
I love your colors, style, and everything about your sweet vintage home. If I didn't have a husband, my decor would be EXACTLY like yours. Unfortunately, pink is not his favorite color. Lol.
Well that’s too bad about your husband not liking pink! But you can live vicariously through my videos 😄
I actually had those sheets…the coffee table runner. Thanks for the ideas!
I came here to find out if it is okay to put flannel in a vintage sheet quilt! Thank you! I loved the whole video!
I LOVE vintage sheets and pillowcases.
They’re the best 👏

Omg my favorite RUclips video so far! (I’m going backwards btw) So. Many. Fun. Ideas! This one I’m saving! ❤
Love the wrap skirt idea. I just found a young lady who sews ( by hand) and she made a 50’s style circle skirt with a tablecloth. She did say that sheets and tablecloths were great and inexpensive when bought at a thrift store
Good ideas. Sew into tote bags or zipper pouches. I’ve made a few. Great for night gowns too.
Omgggg I would love to make a nightgown out of one. Also a cute robe would be fun 🥹 I have a hard time with sleeves in clothing making though 😂
I really enjoyed this video! And I’m so glad you are repurposing the sheets. I definitely picked up a few tips.

One thing you can sew with vintage sheets is a garden smock, when your hot , you don't sweat as much like with a T-shirt, I wish I made one sooner.
Great ideas. So love all them. Now when you showed those shelves in the living room with all your decor, but now removed, I was so in love. Can I suggest returning all those wonderful items, bc they were gorgeous. You and your home are darling! Such a joy to watch. Hugs

Loving your videos Emily! The junk journals with the pockets are such a fun idea. I'd love to try that myself ❤
Love your pink skirt! (Fav color) You had so many great ideas. I love the cheeriness of the room you are in also. Happy Valentine's Day
Thank you so so much! Happy Valentine’s Day to you, Jeanie! ☺️💕
Love the idea of covering cardboard with sheets for the shelf backing! Then you can change it out! Doing that now! lol
Oh yay have fun!!! 😄💕
Also- I have hemmed curtains with iron hem tape- so that would be a great option for someone completely scared of sewing!
I have never tried that before so that’s a great tip! 💕
I love all your ideas. I have been saving vintage sheets to make a quilt. I need to get on it! I love your idea to use a flannel inside because I hate how stiff regular batting is! Your vintage sheets are so cheerful🌺🌼. I think Target should definitely sponsor you❤Your sales pitch really sold me on those sheets. 👍🏻
Oh yay I’m happy to hear that! 😂 you won’t regret it theyre the greatest. Hope you love them and welcome to the Threshold sheet club 🤣
I love vintage Linens I can't find very many sheets though, you have a beautiful collection!
How does this not have 1 Million views, so creative and practical. And budget friendly, too🎉
So sad that Melanie Ham passed away. Such a beautiful soul and a great teacher.
I love the curtain ideas. You're right about the sheets!!! Thanks for another great video!
Thanks so much, Nancy ☺️💕

Yay I’m glad you feel the same!!! Plus you see the pillowcases on the bed vs the sheets which are covered by a bedspread anyway 🤷🏼♀️
Love the junk journal. I often have small vintage things that I need to collect up this way!
Junk journals are PERFECT for teeny tiny pieces of paper and fabric! Definitely give it a try 😄💕
Would really really really like a tutorial on the curtains with the backing
I’d love to find a piano bench and use it at the foot of my bed! Love this video!
Oh yay I hope you can find one!!! 😄 I bet you will, there’s tons of free pianos on FB marketplace and I bet you could ask for the piano bench if no one takes the piano. Just an idea ☺️
Great ideas!! Your house and style make me smile. Thank you for sharing! 😍
Aw thank you and I’m so glad it makes you smile 🥹💕
@herm4041 - me, too 🤗 Emily Retro, your home is so cute & colorful! I love vintage sheets, especially vintage percale
Love your colors, decor, and crafts!
Thank you so much, Kris! ☺️

Love all these ideas! I have bought vintage pillowcases from eBay to cover a junk journal. Thanks for your enthusiasm!
Oh yay what a great use for vintage pillowcases 👏👏👏
I found a duvet cover I'm tempted to make a bedspread similar to what you have shown, so I will def watch if you make a tutorial!
Oh yay thanks for letting me know 😄
so many fun craft ideas! thanks for the inspiration!💖 i’ve been hoarding tons of sheets time to actually craft with them😅
Omg I’m so excited for you I want to see what you make 🤩
Love all your ideas they make me smile 😃
Thanks so much, Nancy! Your comment made me smile 🥲💕
Love your videos you just keep at it your doing great

Awesome thanks for letting me know! ☺️💕
All fun and creative ideas💚
I still have some of those sheets that were originally new
What a fun video! You have so many great ideas, and you bring sunshine to RUclips with your personality! I’ve always wondered how do you make curtains with the backing, specifically with vintage sheets that are so thin. Would absolutely love a tutorial.
I agree, the top/ bottom tags are life changing! I love those sheets!
There’s not many “new” things in this world that I think are better than vintage, but that’s one of them 😂
Hi Emily, I love all your ideas of using vintage sheets for crafts. I was wondering if you made that colorful garland with the balls, I just love how colorful it is. If you did make it, could you show us how to make one. Thanks so much, Rita❤️😘🥰

You are a very talented young lady. Love your sheet display behind you. Butt-ugly shelves…I use that expression too.😅
So many great ideas!
Thank you so much ☺️💕

Love all your ideas
Thanks, Lisa! ☺️💕
Thanks! ❤
great ideas!
I buy a fitted white sheet and use vintage top sheets and pillowcases.
Great ideas ❤
So cute!! Can you do a tutorial on the lamp shades and pillow envelope cover please? 💖💖
I don’t think I’ll do the pillow tutorial since I did exactly what the Made Everyday video did that I linked to, but I’ll keep the lamp one in mind. Thank you ☺️💕

Yes SO TRUE! So glad you’ve discovered how amazing these sheets are too 😄
Silly question how do you know they are really truly vintage ?? Thank you x

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are so fresh and cute. Best of luck to you!
Welp, I just found my addiction....
A bar of soap with cold water gets blood out
Hydrogen peroxide will get blood out of fabric.
Please fix the whistling "s's" in your speech recording. Hurts the ears.
Those were some fantastic and unique ideas! Thank you!!
