    I love how you present this - you are articulate and to the point, so thank you! I’ve tried to watch other tutorials but the presenter was so giggly, or talked so much that I couldn’t watch. One presenter was flirty with her camera (eyebrow waggles, shoulder dips, cutesy) that even though her information was great, I just couldn’t watch. But you’ve got this down! Thank you again

    8 years ago my son and his gf lost the baby she was carrying. They had already named the baby Jordan regardless of gender. I made a memorial stocking for baby Jordan. Has "her" name and the date we lost her. I say her because I was convinced the baby was a girl. I then decided to add all of our deceased family members to the stocking. Last year I added my mom. This year I will add my husband's best friend and his brother in law as he passed on January 7th. This was the hardest stocking I ever made 😢

    The 6 pointed star - back two together, that way there is no "wrong side". Or decorate the back with a sequin strip sewn on in the star shape. Small Christmas shape would look lovely as a banner, on the mantle, over doorways, round baby's cot. Love the video, thank you. Best wishes. Aug'24. UK. E❤

    Is the tree skirt machine washable? I am specifically wondering if the white snaps would come apart. Thank you! I have sewn for nearly 70 years, predominantly garments, but I also do a large variety of craft type sewing. You are a very good teacher. You explain the instructions well.

    • @ArtistTaraReed
      @ArtistTaraReed  Месяц назад +1

      I haven't washed mine but don't see what it wouldn't be - it's fabric and batting, so basically a quilt with snaps. The Kam Snaps are used in a lot of baby products that get washed constantly (shirts, bibs, etc) so they shouldn't be a problem either. And TY for the compliment - means a lot. 🥰

  • @Linda-ml4ls
    @Linda-ml4ls Месяц назад

    There is another very simple way to gather something. Make sure that the presser foot and throat plate are ones that can be used for a zigzag stitch! These instructions are for someone who is right handed. Measure how long the area is that is to be gathered. Measure a length of 1/16th or 1/8th inch ribbon, or very thin cording, that is 4-5 inches longer than the measured fabric. (If the fabric is 20” long where you want the gathers to be, your ribbon or cording should be at least 24-25 inches long. There is no need to cut the ribbon or cording! It will not remain in the fabric.) Leave a tail, at the beginning, least 2” long. The ribbon or cording should be positioned so that the long loose end is hanging over the front of your sewing machine. Secure the short end that is closest to the back of your machine, by either taking a few stitches into it, or with a pin. Make sure that it cannot be pulled into the casing you are about to sew. Next select the zigzag stitch and a wide width. With your right hand, hold the long length of ribbon or cording near the front of the presser foot. You are going to zigzag over the ribbon or cording, being careful to NOT sew on it! Hold the long end of ribbon or cording so that you keep it centered under the threads that are going to the right and left. (Creating the zigzag stitch.) When you reach the end of the fabric, pull the fabric away from the machine. Cut the threads. Hold the portion of the fabric where you stopped sewing with your left hand. With your right hand, pull the end of the ribbon or cording. With your left hand slide the fabric to the left, creating gathers however tightly or loosely that you desire. Pin the long loose end of the ribbon or cording into the fabric. Change the stitch back to a straight stitch. The stitch length can be 3 or greater. Do a straight line of stitching, beginning at the area of the fabric where you started sewing the zigzag. Stitch slightly to the right of the zigzag stitches. This will keep the gathered material in place. Continue sewing until you reach the end of the gathers. If you used a pin to secure one end of the ribbon or cording, remove it. If you took a few stitches to hold it, carefully remove those stitches, so that the short end of the ribbon or cording is completely loose. Using your left hand hold the fabric at the end where you stopped doing the zigzag stitch. Don’t hold the ribbon or cording. With your right hand pull the ribbon or cording all of the way out. Continue with your project.

    • @ArtistTaraReed
      @ArtistTaraReed  Месяц назад

      “Charm Pack” is actually a term trademarked by Moda fabrics - Riley Blake calls their square precuts stackers. It’s like Kleenex becoming the common term for tissue even tho it’s a brand name. Same thing for “jelly roll”
