The one getting abused in the relationship wants to leave, but still loves their partner too much to leave(Listen to the lyrics ‘Over me, over me and I can't break free’ and the lyrics ‘I want to fix him but I don't think I can’). The "no good, need to be in control" part could be the mentally ill person's self-loathing thoughts and actions as a result of the venomous snakes' mistreatment, making the person want to perform horrible violence and control the venomous people to feel better about themselves, and ending off with the "This is how you make me feel" as if the person is demonstrating their violent tendencies to a snake that mistreated them, demonstrating that the venomous treatment makes the person feel a bitter and sadistic intent.

Literally came here because I heard the start of Rachmanioff's Prelude in C Minor and said "damn… that sounds like Pit of Vipers" haha. Glad to know it was sampled from it.
Honestly, this song fits DRAMAtical Murder to the core. The story of the game is quite simple: a 23 year old boy lives in a town that is obsessed with a game called "Rhyme". People battle there in a virtual world with their real bodies and minds, damaging them if they lose the match. The boy and the other people he meets later on try and stop this. But another problem occurs - the two leaders of "Morphine", Virus and Trip, have found out their plan, and they actually know Aoba, the main character. So as Aoba and his group try to save the population of not only the city, but the country it self from this game, AND from the leader of the country, Toue, who has a plan to brainwash everyone. In the mean time, Aoba keeps hearing a voice in his head telling him what to do. That voice is actually his old self, before he got into an accident and got amnesia. Turns out he was the most powerful Player in "Rhyme" before the incident, but he despises Rhyme to the core after it. Not to mention Virus and Trip's bad end, where they kidnap Aoba and basically torture him almost until he dies of hunger and dehydration. The other ending and routes don't really resemble this song, but the main story, along with Virus and Trip's are very similar. P.S, Virus has a pet viper :) And the song is basically about a boy who hears voices in his head, feeling like he's in a put of vipers, like stuck in a game where everyone expresses their anger, while in the real world everyone is keeping secrets. The "I use you, I'm no good, need to be in control" resemble the voice in his head, his other self, telling him what to do. Just overall thought it's a nice little theory that this and the game are slightly similar.

How I interpret the song: Someone in a friend group feels like they're starting to become irrelevant and it's only a matter of time before people just forget that they're there ("I can almost feel the tik like clockwork" and "There's a game they play that I'm not part of"). So in order for them to be relevant again, they start to poke fun and tease their friend's mistakes ("Tearing at the weaknesses and all the faults they know"), but it's all just fun and games. (The song also says stuff like how the singer is drowning, just like someone can drown in loneliness.) Eventually the teasing is never ending, but the person can't stop teasing their friends ("I've fallen deep into a pit of vipers"). Eventually everything just starts falling apart and the friends in the group all turn against eachother because of the teasing, but the persom who started it all won't admit that it's all their fault, and says they only played a small part ("Now I must admit that I have played a part in the way that things have gotten out of hand, but it's escalated almost to an art"). Then the lyrics "This is how you make me feel" is everyone else in the friend group, talking about how one person made everyone else feel like they fell into a pit of vipers. When the song says "Tearing at the weaknesses and all the faults they know", I start relating it to being bullying and how some people try to bounce back from it. Like if the people who bully you know that you have social anxiety, or you don't have any self-confidence, you try to better yourself so nobody will wrong you again. Slowly introducing yourself to huge groups to kill your social anxiety off, so that your bullies can't use it against you anymore.
I interpret this song as two people in a toxic relationship. The abuser in the relationship is constantly tearing the other person down, making them feel horrible. I'm playing a dnd campaign based on homestuck where in fiction our characters play sburb. Our dm sent us theme songs based on our characters. This was mine. My character is a time player meaning they can time travel, he has a pet snake. In the game he tries to be a double spy because he got brainwashed by the enemy. I have to constantly make constitution saving throws for this mental state. But he just keeps on slipping. I love this song, it really fits him.
No it’s not the snakes. It’s the voices in their head and the word clockwork, which is the name of a Pasta. Also, they mention ticking. So, to a lot of people, it feels like a huge reference. Hope this helps :)

The "no good, need to be in control" part could be the mentally ill person's self-loathing thoughts and actions as a result of the venomous snakes' mistreatment, making the person want to perform horrible violence and control the venomous people to feel better about themselves, and ending off with the "This is how you make me feel" as if the person is demonstrating their violent tendencies to a snake that mistreated them, demonstrating that the venomous treatment makes the person feel a bitter and sadistic intent.

Honestly, this song fits DRAMAtical Murder to the core.
The story of the game is quite simple: a 23 year old boy lives in a town that is obsessed with a game called "Rhyme". People battle there in a virtual world with their real bodies and minds, damaging them if they lose the match. The boy and the other people he meets later on try and stop this. But another problem occurs - the two leaders of "Morphine", Virus and Trip, have found out their plan, and they actually know Aoba, the main character. So as Aoba and his group try to save the population of not only the city, but the country it self from this game, AND from the leader of the country, Toue, who has a plan to brainwash everyone. In the mean time, Aoba keeps hearing a voice in his head telling him what to do. That voice is actually his old self, before he got into an accident and got amnesia. Turns out he was the most powerful Player in "Rhyme" before the incident, but he despises Rhyme to the core after it. Not to mention Virus and Trip's bad end, where they kidnap Aoba and basically torture him almost until he dies of hunger and dehydration. The other ending and routes don't really resemble this song, but the main story, along with Virus and Trip's are very similar.
P.S, Virus has a pet viper :)
And the song is basically about a boy who hears voices in his head, feeling like he's in a put of vipers, like stuck in a game where everyone expresses their anger, while in the real world everyone is keeping secrets. The "I use you, I'm no good, need to be in control" resemble the voice in his head, his other self, telling him what to do.
Just overall thought it's a nice little theory that this and the game are slightly similar.

How I interpret the song:
Someone in a friend group feels like they're starting to become irrelevant and it's only a matter of time before people just forget that they're there ("I can almost feel the tik like clockwork" and "There's a game they play that I'm not part of").
So in order for them to be relevant again, they start to poke fun and tease their friend's mistakes ("Tearing at the weaknesses and all the faults they know"), but it's all just fun and games.
(The song also says stuff like how the singer is drowning, just like someone can drown in loneliness.)
Eventually the teasing is never ending, but the person can't stop teasing their friends ("I've fallen deep into a pit of vipers"). Eventually everything just starts falling apart and the friends in the group all turn against eachother because of the teasing, but the persom who started it all won't admit that it's all their fault, and says they only played a small part ("Now I must admit that I have played a part in the way that things have gotten out of hand, but it's escalated almost to an art").
The person really wants to try and fix everything, but they just can't because they got so into it ("I wanna fix it but I don't think I can").
The person at this point knows that they're just using everyone to feel relevant again so they keep teasing and turing everyone against eachother so they can feel like they have power(So they can keep staying relevant), but they know it's wrong and still want to stop ("I use you, I'm no good, need to be in control").
Then the lyrics "This is how you make me feel" is everyone else in the friend group, talking about how one person made everyone else feel like they fell into a pit of vipers.

Like if the people who bully you know that you have social anxiety, or you don't have any self-confidence, you try to better yourself so nobody will wrong you again. Slowly introducing yourself to huge groups to kill your social anxiety off, so that your bullies can't use it against you anymore.

My character is a time player meaning they can time travel, he has a pet snake. In the game he tries to be a double spy because he got brainwashed by the enemy. I have to constantly make constitution saving throws for this mental state. But he just keeps on slipping. I love this song, it really fits him.
