    Just bought the C3 based on your (and others') review. I was astonished by the speed, comfort and build quality! Used a Hario hand grinder before and I literally said "No way, you're kidding!" out loud after the first grind, because it was done grinding so quickly. I use it for pour over mainly, not espresso. Really happy I went for this one, and not a cheap electric grinder (loud, ugly, quickly dirty). Can recommend it to anyone!

    I just bought a Timemore ESP and absolutely love it. It’s currently set to 21 clicks and makes beautifully uniform espresso grounds. Excellent grip, butter smooth movement, high quality components, and grinds quickly and easily.

  • @evolv.e
    @evolv.e 2 года назад +36

    For those grinding for espresso, its definitely worth upgrading to the Timemore ESP for the upgraded construction and more importantly, getting the finer E & B grind burr that cuts the grind time to about half the time compared to the C3. Grinding 10g of fine espresso grounds on 21 clicks takes me ~19 seconds on average. I paid $119 for the ESP and feel that it was definitely worth the money and produces grinds comparable to $350-$400 electric grinders.

  • @Jymyte
    @Jymyte 2 года назад +5

    I bought one based on your recommendation on the C2 and I've been really happy with it as an upgrade from Hario Skerton Pro. Kinda dissapointed that the new burrs, weren't that much of an upgrade. I guess the extra blade reduces the amount of beans that can be ground simultaneously. Maybe that contributes to the better uniformity like how grinding slower or even bean by bean results in better uniformity.
    Another thing I wondered about was whether or not this new burr set would choke or jerk less? I find that the most unpleasant thing about the Skerton Pro was how it kept doing so. I believe this is an aspect that is being overlooked on the reviews, as to me it heavily affects the enjoyability of actually using the grinder.

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  2 года назад +4

      Sounds weird, but yes. It's due to the burr design of C2 not being able to feed well when inner cone and outer burr are close together.

    Great review, I have the C2 and really happy with the grind result, I use the C2 mostly for pour over, and I was wondering is it worth to upgrade to the C3, but after seeing some review including yours I think it will be better to upgrade to the 1ZPresso JX instead. :-D

    • @Martin_Edmondson
      @Martin_Edmondson 2 года назад +2

      I really like my C2 too, but if I were to upgrade I would probably get the k-max.
      Although it is far more expensive, the difference will likely be more noticeable (both in taste and usability) than the JX.
      Seems like if you are looking to upgrade you might as well bite the bullet and buy once, instead of buying another one once you think the JX is not cutting it any more.
      I am sticking with my C2 for the next few years at least, it does the job for me. Incremental upgrades are not worth it for most people imho. Enjoy what you have. There will be something new along next year too.

    What do you think of X Lite? Some guys on Korean coffee community website say X Lite is the best grinder for filter on the market right now(it can compete with commandante or Kinu and whatnot) . I believe the main difference with c3 is the burr diameter, so I'm a bit surprised about x Lite being way better than C3.

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  2 года назад +1

      I think that might be an exaggeration, but it should be quite consistent, even more than Chestnut X. The main downside is that it's supposed to be incredibly slow for grinding filter coffee.
