I always wander how awkward it must be for Lisbon to stay behind with the suspects after Patrick says weird stuff she can't explain and goes away looking for clues...
Lisbon is suprised by Jane's attitude. Jane always interferes with Lisbon's business. He always teases her, no matter how personel the issue is for her. He usually has no boundries. But for the first time, he keeps the distance, he obviously doesn't like the situation but doesn't comment either. He almost on purpose tries to not notice things about her love life. Because he is no longer the man whose only purpose is getting revenge at all cost.

@@Alona2811 Well, I did see the signs of him being in love with her, but considering how good he is at hiding his own feelings and how deeply in denial he was for a long time, it was subtle. I always thought it was Jane who fell first. He's just way better at hiding it and had stronger reasons to try to distance himself and to remain in denial as much as possible. Lisbon was unaware and then in denial of her own feelings for most of it but it was really hard for her to hide it. She would've done it if she could, she wasn't ready to be with him either and especially not before they got rid of RJ. I mean, 5x02 made Jane's feelings pretty obvious. We had the chance to see the sides of him he tries hard to hide, like the part of him that knows his wife and daughter would've wanted him to move on instead of getting caught up in his mission for revange and the part of him hat has more than friendly feelings for Lisbon. And that was only one episode. Unless you need super obvious clues, there are many instances that showed his romantic interest in Lisbon, like him telling her he loved her at the end of s4, even if he took it back later. Imo it wasn't exactly her being with another man the reason why Jane ended up confessing his feelings but Lisbon leaving and him losing her. I think that even without Pike, they would've eventually gotten together, they just would've taken longer. Jane wanted to have her with him but he was terrified of changing their relationship, of opening his heart and being hurt like he was when he lost his wife and kid. At first he thought he could live with Lisbon being with another man while she was still with him, as his best friend. It hurt but he thought he could live with that. He still got more and more jealous but losing her completely he couldn't stand, so he decided to give romance a chance. Personally, I like that the writers didn't shoved it on our faces. Even though it's what I like the most about the show, I'm glad that the romance is secondary most of the time.
I know why he asks her that question, but it's funny for me, personally, because my father also did not attend my high school graduation-- but it was because my grandfather fell and broke his hip in the venue parking lot and my dad went with him to the hospital. So, you know. A perfectly valid reason.
She WANTED him to be upset and talk to her about her boyfriend. First she says "by, MARKUS", then stares at him and goes "what" although he hasn't done anything. So cute.

Amazing things i noticed about this scene!: 1. Patrick doesn't look lisbon in the eye the whole walk on the pavement, especially not when she asks him if something is wrong. He SAYS 'no, nothing', BUT DOESN'T LOOK HER IN THE EYE DOING IT. Now, a mentalist by profession can lie to a person in the face, no problem, but when it's Lisbon, for Jane it's impossible for him to do so to her. The reason is, and also why he can only work with Teresa: her honesty, virtue and their open and unconditional bond. In this world of both the policemen being killers(Red John) and the societys seemingly inocuosus elite(Californian rich folks) being killers, Patrick trusts no one, and inso can look them in the eye and lie because he is sure that dishonesty and unautenticity rule the social world. Whereas Teresa, he can trust his life with her. He knows she isnt capable or interested in betrayl and, because of that, is a good, dependable and unpretencious person whose love and devotion is genuine and earned. If he were to lie to Lisbon it would be to lie to himself in the eye, because she is his other half, who is as capable of protecting him emotionally of this callous world, as he is himself. It's really a sweet paradox of how a mentalist is telling on his emotions and unable to use his best arsenal - body language and manipulation as his Queen of hearts card, but really also a testament about how much a men with such an occupation is capable of forming deep love, trust and vulnerability just to gain emotional an moral benefits as opposed to purely superficial and oppurtunistic benefits. So beautiful how this scene broke and the actor broke the mold of the base body language and inso also emotions of the character in this manner! 2. All that in order to calm himself from hearing plans about ongoing lovelife of agent Lisbon!

To be completely honest I do think Lisbon did like pike, but I think she really was dating him to make Jane make a move. She was so hesitant about moving with him and she looked so guilty when pike said that he thought what they had was special. Or maybe that’s just me hoping.
I don't think so. When she accepted Pike's first date she hesitated. We all know why. But Pike came out and said she's attractive and he wants to get to know her. She told Jane already on the plane that she was no longer going to be his sidekick. She didn't know Jane was going to ask her out, so she took the first offer available (considering Pike's not a bad guy).
