  • This video shows Dr. Evan Matthews explaining how to calculate the Pearson's correlation coefficient (r value) and the associated p value without using a statistical package within Microsoft Excel. This video is part of a playlist of videos showing how to set up a large research spreadsheet.
    Pearson Correlation p Value Formula for Excel Used in Video:

    Thank you! I really didn't want to have to run R just for the p-value of a correlation. I appreciate you. Thanks for the tutorial!

    Thank you for the video!
    Question: can the same formula be used to calculate p-value of spearman r?

    • @VivoPhys
      @VivoPhys  2 дня назад

      I don't know. If you check it vs a software program please comment back to let me know if the p values match.

      @VivoPhys So I don't have access to a software to check this, but from what I understand, to calculate p-value, we need to calculate the test statistic (the equation for which I can see in your excel formula) and the equation for test statistic is the same for Pearson and Spearman r. So yes, I think we can use this excel formula for both.

      I am not a statistician. I'm not your best bet for help. Sorry.
