Looking back I always had mild OCD but i thought I was just a very careful/sensitive child. My first full blown OCD episode was in 2020 , I was 29.
It was soo bad. I did not know what was happening to me. I thought OCD was about cleanliness until I came across an article about a lady who has OCD. It was an AHA! moment.
Everything made sense. I was also relived to know that I can get better. I moved on from the first theme only because OCD latched on different theme after a car accident. Always amazes me how alot of us experience the same thing. I HOPE this year is the year we all get better 🎉

October 1995 at 32 years old an unwanted thought pounced on me . Been wrestling with OCD ever since. Just discovered within the last year what it was. Since then I've made some progress. You were the first one whose videos I could relate to Ali. You are very helpful and I'm grateful to you.

Ali you just explained the exact start point of the ocd ! Yes i really gave the worst reaction on a thought and then it became group of thoughts and then that autofilling thing started

I definitely had OCD as a kid, but I always recovered over time.
Then it’s exactly as she said. My mid twenties I was hanging out with my buddy watching a movie when an image of the knife that I kept with me bloodied and him dead in front of me popped in my head.
I was stunned, I buried the knife got rid of anything that could be considered a weapon.
Years later I recovered after finally learning about how to react to the thoughts.
I had peace for years then another image popped in my head of someone close to me. I tried the usual methods and still wound up in a panic attack.
I’ve been fighting it in the last 8 months. The past couple of weeks it was steadily improving then the other day a coworker did something that only amounts to an annoyance but the fear of me hurting him out of spite sent me into rumination and has spawned a lot of new thoughts.

Aged 7, 1972, first person I knew who died, followed by first intrusive thought that became an obsession. Started Erp therapy 6 months ago and finding some peace for the first time......am so grateful to finally start seeing some light.

Always minor, as a teen checking door to make sure it was locked. Once COVID came and the stories about how it can last on cardboard and paper, plastic, metal and the recommendations to wash hands often that was the point where it became a problem. Everything became suspect.

You read me like a book. My OCD developed around 6 months after my mother passed. And guess what, I am 20!
I've always been an overthinker, and i saw it as a good thing. Only after ocd I have started to realise the bad parts abiut rumination

I truly believe mine started due to a very toxic relationship that was so so bad it was the catalyst that threw me into a deep OCD nightmare. And sure enough it was around the age of 19-20
