When me and my dad would go float fishing when I was younger, in the car on the journey home I would go asleep and he would always wake me by shouting “son ye float!” Always got me 😂
I have a sleeping condition and I'm never awake before 12pm... I miss out on so much.. but this year.. I don't care if I have to stop up all night.. I am going to be on the bank with my 83yr old Dad at 8am to fish on a river.. I want to see the earth waking up around us as we are spending the day together trying to catch.. This video is perfect, as I've never been on the river before and I am really looking forward to it.. All the best for 2023 Carl. Superb channel.
This channel inspired me to start fishing and i thank you so much for it. I started fishing about 8 months ago and i love float fishing. I'm transitioning into carp fishing but i love going back to basics with a float. thank you so much Carl.
I am just getting prepped to fish again after 30 years away from it. Your videos are invaluable and it makes me wish i had been taught correctly in the beginning!
here in Italy we float fish in rivers a different way. its called “bolognese” and we use long rods ( from 5 to 9 meters long depending on the depth of the river). its interesting to watch how you do it that is so different from our style. great video btw❤❤
Same here in Bulgaria, for river fishing we mostly use bolognese rods and since most rivers here are not very big or deep, the most common lenght bolognese rods we use are 5 and 6 meters. I have alot of videos on my channel fishing with those. Ocassionaly there might be someone with even a 7 m rod, but it s very rare in my country.😃
@@zootedgoat4641 Well they are nothing too special I have 2 5 meter (17 feet) ones and 2 (20 feet) ones they are a sort of light telescopic ros and they are specifically designed mostly for river and sea fishing. I rarely fish the sea because It s far from where I live so I mostly use them for river fishing and those types of rods are very popular here in Bulgaria for river fishing. If you want to see what they look like check out some videos from my channel.😃
Another enjoyable and inspirational video. Thank you. As a boy my favourite was always float fishing on a very slow flowing water. I loved the anticipation of not knowing if and when I would get a bite, and what it might be. The slower pace meant I could relax and enjoy watching nature as it busied itself around me; water voles were still quite common back in the early sixties. I am moving very soon to a place right next to a back water just off the River Great Ouse, so I will be hopefully able to relive some of those boyhood moments again. I look forward to your videos and I hope you will be able to keep them coming during 2023.
I remember starting out fishing with a small float kit off eBay, I had loads of fun before I moved into carp. I wish you great luck with your channel for the new year. I love your channels so much!
Fantastic video Carl! Love the way you make each frame. You motivate me, and give me ideas for my first videos. Keep up the good work, and wish you all the best!🐟💙
float fishing something we all started with, i actually started fishing on danube and my first day i fished around 12 hours and caught around 150 fish for the first day! next fishing session was competition i got 3rd spot and this still gives some new information that can be used thanks carl. also wondering if you would make video about fishing for zander with the rig that has weight, hook and live fish in Serbia we call it "Muvanje kederom" very productive in winter.
I can’t even count how many times I’ve re watched carls float fishing vids. And btw if you’re looking for a river to float fish on with maggots there is one stretch of the river weaver next to a pub called the Leigh arms and I’ve had some nice fish out there and I reckon it would be a good video for you but a bit of a journey
Floated a commercial yesterday and got a 5 lb bream, it was an old boy and really livened up the session as I really expected smaller skimmers roach Rudd etc
Good session! Can I ask what stretch of the Severn was this? I recently tried Lincomb Lock on the Severn. First time on the river in years and had a blank with worms and maggots. Both float and ledger fishing.
I’ve been given split advice about starting fishing. This being one method I’ve been recommended. What would you recommend as a good float fishing set up (rod, reel, line etc) for a beginner ? I’d be fishing the great Ouse if that adds to the equation
Hi bud, what kind of kind weight would you recommend for floatfishing on a river for your main line? As always pleasure watching another awsome video of yours

Lol, I can’t believe people like you can catch a wheelbarrow full of fish in a day and I’ve spent probably around 48 or more hours of my life waiting with a stick and only caught a single undersized carp!
