I wouldn’t say that’s the case. It’s why he’s able to leave Dickson be without another word after the fight against him. Yes he was betrayed by the 2 people he trusted most, but he’s perfectly content in leaving them in the past because he’s now got 6 other people he can rely on, and much more than he ever did with Dickson and Mumkhar.
I don't get why, but for me this is probably the saddest death scene in the game. The music, the dialogue, the incredible voice acting, the cigarette falling out of his mouth, and most importantly, shulk shaking, almost crying as he killed his father figure. I think this scene is perfect
This is actually really sad. Like, sure, Dickson was a huge dick. But I genuinely think he did warm up to Shulk and considered him somewhat of a son. Just like Shulk considered Dickson a surrogate father. I might be imagining things but I think Dickson was even proud of Shulk in the end.
Baby Jiren Yeah, at least Dickson had some remorse, unlike Lorithia. And Alvis wasn’t even on Zanza’s side in the first place, he was just deceiving him.
Idk I thought Dickson was a grade A douchebag. Even at the end where he was like "I won't give them the satisfaction" it's like you didn't even understand Shulk at all. The deceiving line I took it as he was a fighter and didn't like doing the under-handed/tricking people stuff. At least Lorithia believed she would be immortal and Alvis was a program, Dickson had no real motivation to even be on Zanza's side Personally I think one of the games minus point was they didn't elaborate between Dickson and Dunban

@@sreddi83 I get what you’re saying, but I think you’re looking at it the wrong way. When Shulk made his comeback with the replica monado and pushed back Dickson and the telethia, there was a scena between Alvis, Shulk and Dickson. They talked about whether the world should belong to Shulk or Zanza. Dickson said that either way made no difference to him. That meant he held no actual loyalty for Zanza whatsoever. Later, he confirmed that by saying that we was simply in it for the sake of power and getting to fight. That’s important because it solidifies one of Dickson’s characteristics - he’s a warrior. Warriors don’t tend to like showing weakness. Combined with several lines of dialogue that reveal that Dickson sees himself as Shulk’s teacher, as well as the final quote ”looks like the student surpassed the teacher” (which is the line I believe displays actual pride as opposed to sadness/anger), I think he did understand. I think he didn’t want Shulk to see him die, to know that he killed his surrogate father. Even though Shulk knew it from the start. Then there’s also the fact that he’s a giant and who knows how they feel emotions compared to homs. I might also be reading into it and be completely wrong, but those are just my two cents. So yeah, definitely a huge dick. But I think he had redeeming qualities, some of which others have mentioned too. And he always seemed genuinely happy/friendly around Shulk, way more than necessary for the job he was meant to do.
Idk why no one gets that “I won’t give you the satisfaction of watching me die” was just dickson acting tough, as evil as he was, he realized in the end he didn’t want the child he raised to have to watch him die
lol no? the he raised that he shot and then tried to kill? dickson was selfish. he was acting tough because he didn't want to admit that he was beat by them. he didn't care about them. he had nothing to gain except power with his whole scheme.
He's really more complicated than people give him credit for. Dickson was conflicted throughout the story, he just doesn't show it very often. He wondered all along if he made the right choice. To be honest, I don't think he even desired power at the end, I think he was just scared of Zanza. When Shulk took him down, he realized what an idiot he'd been but still didn't want to let the kid he'd grown affection for watch him bite it.
Honestly really like Dickson really good character, the plot twist was obviously heavily foreshadowed, but I still liked it I enjoyed when he was working with us and against us just really enjoyable character.
He admired shulk the most, even more than Reyn and the others. In future connected is more obvious as it's told that he always talk proudly of shulk to his children

Dickson's last words in the Japanese version "Is this the limit of a sheep who yearns to be a shepherd…" In the Japanese version, he emphasized his regret that he tried to become a god but could not in the end. It's interesting to think about what "sheep" means in Christianity.
I love the small and missable detail of Dickson's lips slowly fading from his grin to being limp, before the muscles can't hold onto the cigar anymore as it falls to the ground below him.
Some people wonder if Dickson really did, in some way, care about Shulk. All I can say is if Dickson really cared about Shulk, he wouldn’t have shot him in the back.
I mean, he said how he didn't like deceiving him and when his original intend never was to be fond of him, it's likely he got fond of him over the years he basically raised him. But of course his desire for fighting, which has been a thing since the beginning of the world is stronger in many areas.
I think it’s more complex than that but no nothing changes that he still turned against them. However I think he did end up growing close to Shulk and hated that he did, from the start it’s obvious he has his plan set already and his doing his best to make sure his feelings for Shulk don’t get in the way.
Dickson clearly liked Shulk, despite his own intuition. He raised the kid and watched him grow into a young man and follow in his footsteps as a warrior. Did he like Shulk enough to not shoot him in the back? God, no. But he liked Shulk enough to where he clearly regretted it on some deeper level that he's not willing to think about. It would've sparked some sense of pride in him that Shulk not only lived, but was the one to finally take him out.
I just kind of realized the significance of the last bit of this video, where everyone suddenly ends up in Space and next to Saturn of all places. Perhaps uncoincidentally, Saturn in Roman mythology is considered the god of time, among other things.
Dickson would have a great point if Zanza were truly an insurmountable power. He is only wrong because Zanza is imperfect, he should have denied Zanza and found something true to fight for.
I got spoiled for his death, but I didn’t know how the story would get there. They really made shulk’s father figure an evil monster who only pretended to care about shulk. Replace “hi” with “burn in Morytha”, and it’s perfect.
"I wont give you the satisfaction of victory" dickson
What's the name of the theme that plays at 5:00 ?
Engage the enemy
“Only those with power have the right to decide such things!”
“Xanthe just tell me where to fight, and I fight. And that’s how I like it!”
Wow. Very similar to someone from Aionios…
Is that the Agnian guy in Melia quest?
6:31 why the way he said it it so funny x)
5:32 That is so fucking awesome
Dickson is the most evil character in the game.
Worse than Zanza. Zanza was arrogant and entitled. Like a spoiled child. Dickson is pure greed.
Absolutely not. You are describing lorithia. Dickson is way more complex than a simple « evil » character, there is more to it.
@@oursinpacifique8269 I disagree, Lorithia is barely in the game. Dickson raises Shulk for 12 years and then puts out his cigarette on the blood next to his corpse.
@@GregorySnipe disagree all you want, that won't change the fact that dickson is not as simple as you describe him. Took me a long time to analyse him, rewatching every cutscene trying to make sense of what he said, but i eventually figured him out. Him acting pure evil does not mean he is pure evil.
"Can't say I feel good about deceiving these kids"
Dickson, once he revealed his true identity, acted a bit differently when engaging with shulk and the others compared to when he was by himself. He was conflicted and did care about shulk, but didn’t want to let anyone see that, so he overplayed it every time he engaged with them to hide his feelings.
He’s a bad guy, yeah, but he did care about Shulk
1:01 and 6:07 are so bad that literally I cannot do nothing but laugh 😂😂😂
so epic
Can someone please explain to me how Dickson looks like a monster. I thought he was homs
He's a giant with a second form as a homs.
But... how Shulk and his friends get to the space? What i miss?
...Did you play the game...?
What's the ost that plays during the death scene?
Rage, Darkness of the Heart
@@oneish7454 Thank you for this!!
@@corallee5222 no problem, i was hoping i wasn't too late
nooo why😭
That thumbnail…
Welp that’s me spoiled
You really should avoid youtube until u beat the game
@@kamiru2993 Or these a hole RUclipsrs should be more considorate!
@@recht_voor_zijn_raap5506 more considerate of what?they have no obligation to not post them because of newcommers.
If u don't wanna get spoiled, don't click, simple as that.
Edit: and if u complain about thumbnail, I got nothing on that tbh, just avoid youtube until u beat the game.
When 3 Houses was released I got spoiled but that s on me for clicking on youtube.
Considered about a 10 year old game that has plenty of spoilers around???
Tiago Mariano stop acting like a ff7 fans who cares if a game is old
I personally feel the final scenes regarding Dickson are too long and contain too much filler. The cutscene before Phase Two of the battle against Disciple Dickson is really not needed as well Phase Two itself. Dickson should have died quickly like Lorithia and not have the final cutscene drag on longer than it should. Fortunately, I can skip the cutscenes altogether.
You seem like a generic boomer. Lorithia only died faster because she was just a flatly evil fool. Dickson actually had personality, though not as good as Egil or Mumkhar. I have to violently disagree with you.
Charachter development is NOT FILLER and you need those final moments both to give Shulk closure as well as showing us Dickson really did care for Shulk
dunban
Kindly remove this huge spolier from the late game in the title/thumbnail!
No.
The game is well over ten years old; to me, the cutoff point is one year (or zero seconds if the story is that bad).
@@TheEmperorHyperion however the game was not accessible to many people
@@TheEmperorHyperion I don't think you understand that they remastered it and so many people playing the game will get spoiled, I know I was
Spoiler warning please!
Yeah this could use some spoiler warning BUT also lets not forget this game is 10 years old lel
@@WishiXD but also not forget that this version has many new fans.
@@nel5518 Ya the original was semi-limited, the 3ds port i doubt many really got into because it was for the 'new' 3ds which i doubt many bought unless truly die-hard, so really this definitive edition is hopefully the most widespread the game's been
@@BaconNuke I’ve also seen a lot of people say Xenoblade 2 got them into the series
I got spoiled by this in my recommendation because I was watching chuggaaconroy let's play while playing. So yes, the uploaders should change this
English version sucks.
