I thank you so much for this video. My daughter gave me some upholstery fabric she found from an old sofa. She loved the fabric but didn't know what to do with it. I made two beautiful pillows using your video. Could not have done it without you. These will be a housewarming gift for their new home. I feel accomplished thanks to you!!
Oh, and thanks for the written instructions and additional info regarding supplies, etc. Most people on RUclips don't do that! It is really appreciated!!!
Thank you! I just bought some fabric at the new Hobby Lobby store and want to make pillows. I can't afford the pillow at most stores. This is very helpful and you were such a pleasure to watch. You made it look so simple. I know I can do this!! Keep up the good work - some of us really appreciate these lessons.
Thank you so so much!!! I think that, for me, hearing a few times such an imperative reminder to go slow around corners is key for me. Thank you for saying it, how you said it, and when you said it, etc. It is going to help this pillow turn out perfectly! I appreciate you.
Wow! You really do a wonderful job of explaining succinctly and quickly... not wasting my time...and I really appreciate all the details in the drop down box!
Oh my gosh this was so easy. I've been trying to figure out how to do piping for a while now for pillows. This was the best explained video that I have come across. You're awesome, thanks so much.
this is a wonderful instructional video. Although I didn't make my own piping, following your directions for sewing helped me with my project immensely. Thanks.
Enjoyed your videos, they are quick and to the point and don't waste time. Loved the way you cut your bias. Smart. I dusted off the machine today and plan on doing some decorative accents for my home.
I'm going for it! I'm a novice but trying to re-do the dining booth cushions in my vintage camper. Just finished my first curtains, now on to the seating with piping! Thanks for the pointers. 😉
I never thought I would be able to tackle cording, but you make it look possible!! I will be trying this soon and really appreciate you posting this video!!
Thank you for your easy instructions on how to make an envelope pillow with piping. My project is a lot more enjoyable for me to do with the math and sewing steps you give. I already made a bench seat cover following your sewing instructions for that project as well. It helped take the stress out of it for me. Melanie, thank you so much. Sherry
Excellent video! You explain everything so simply and it’s easy to follow. The written instructions below are really helpful too. Thanks so much for putting all the added information below. This may be the best instructional RUclips video I’ve seen. I’m now a subscriber!
Phenomenal tutorial! If you are not a teacher, you should be. The way you explain your process is extremely simple to follow! Time to sew my summer away.
What a fantastic tutorial, very clear to understand, i especially liked the binding explanation, cutting that stuff out has had me baffled for ages. THANK YOU
Thank you for doing this clear and concise tutorial. It was very helpful and "walked" me through successfully making two 16" pillows with piping and creating that envelope. Truly appreciate your effort to create this DIY video.
Just took my first sewing class last Friday and pretty excited about learning lots of new stuff. I found your site about piping and the pillow project and learned a lot. Now I have to try it. Hope to someday be able to work on some stuff on my boat. Thanks for the great information!
The only time you want to stay as close as possible to the piping is on your final seam when joining the fabrics together. Otherwise, your first two pass of stitches may show on the edge of your pipping.
Hi Melanie, this is Asawari. Your tutorials are some of the best I've seen, and even the instructions in the description are clear and precise. I really appreciate the amount of efforts you put into the making of each tutorial. You are doing a wonderful service for amateur sewists like me! Thank you very much.
I needed to make pillow covers for two outdoor pillows with piping and found your video. I gave it a try and they actually turned out pretty good! Thank you for creating this video so that others can learn.
Thank you so much. Your video was SO SO helpful. I completed the pillow. This was my first time to successfully do piping. I'm so grateful for you video.
I'm a experienced sewer and at first thought this may be a waste of my time, after watching your video I really enjoyed it and I also learned some new sewing tips. Love that you are direct and to the point.
Thank you very much mrs. Ham , this is truly a good tutorial, you’re a very good teacher , I understand very well, your tutorial is the best out of many.

Very nice tutorial. Clear instruction and seeing you do this visually is most helpful. Thank you. This was my first time watching Melanie. I was shocked and am sad to learn of her passing. I can see that she has a beautiful soul. Truly sorry for her passing. God bless husband and family.
I just made a pillow cover following your instructions for an envelope pillow cover, and it turned out so great. I was procrastinating on making the cover because I wasn't sure I could do an invisible zipper very well, and I can't stand finishing a pillow by hand sewing it closed. This was so easy after I figured out the measurements for my particular pillow. Thank you for this video. I wish I could share a picture, but I can't figure out how. LOL
Your tutorial was terrific! The first one I have seen on this subject. So much easier to understand than the written instructions at various websites. Thank you for the extra info. under Show More....
Brilliant! 67 years old, and made my first ever piped envelope pillow today.Despite one or two blips which, hopefully, only I can notice (lol), a good result!
I tried this and it worked great! I didn't have a zipper foot for my machine, so that made the trim a challenge. But all in all it turned out great! Thank you for the simple instructions! :)
You made it look so easy Melanie! Such a cool way to cut bias strips, I've never seen this technique before. Also, you need a larger rotary cutter, Lady! :) I will definitely use your tutorial to whip up some pillow covers!

Thank you! You are very talented, incredibly helpful ( because you explain everything in detail, and your videos are very detailed) and so fun to watch! :-)
