Magnus taking the g5 pawn with the pawn instead of the rook may have been the crucial mistake. Had he taken with the rook he would not only have kept a healthier prawn structure but would have also been able to target the g7 prawn as well.

I think what with Magnus’s mom passing so recent he was not in a good mind frame to compete in this tournament it’s kind of evident in his struggles against MVL and Nepo Hoping to see him reemerge in a future event playing full strength again God Bless

Was the queen swap a blunder or an ingenious way to unbalance the game? Black's minor pieces never really found good squares in the middlegame and black was therefore on the defensive side surprisingly. Black could have swapped queens and then the bishops, though.

I think we chess nuts' commentary is the best on-line as we seem to have more fun!
