I love how these are stored, but I do appreciate being able to pull a record out quickly. You've given me a lot to consider. New subscriber here. Great video!
@@SamuelRivera_DAMN I feel it’s very easy to slip in and out the records even with the extra protection of the cardboard sleeves. I’m used to it though as I’ve stored them this way for 14 years. I always take my time when handling the records so if it takes a few seconds longer it’s ok. More important for me is to protect them as much as I can. 👍🏻😊
Hi Fredrick, do you buy the diskeeper sleeves directly from the US or have you found a dealer in Europe? I live in Portugal and taxes and duties can be a pain in the ass. Thanks for the video.
Hello Bruno, yes I buy them directly from the US. Haven’t looked into possible dealers of these sleeves in Europe. That would be great if someone has them over here. Stay tuned. 🤓
The Sleeve City Ultimate Sleeve is IMO, the best sleeve on the market. It's not even close. I also buy the double pocket outer sleeves from Vinyl Storage Solutions which allows you to place the sleeved record outside of the jacket. I like the resealable outer sleeves, although VSS sells double pocket outer sleeves with a flap. I then like to buy the plain white cardboard sleeves that you buy, put the sleeved record into the cardboard sleeve, then place the entire jacketed record in the second pocket of the VSS outer sleeve. This way the record is protected and I never have to touch the record jacket with my fingers.
hummm.... that way to storage will take the double space on your shelves !!! i do too store the Vinyl outside the cover by using the "Vinyl Storage solution" sleeves with ones with 2 pockets (one for the vinyl, other for the cover" but i realise that by doing so i ended up by losing space on my shelves to store more vinyl records and other thing ... by storing the vinyl outside the cover, the cover is stored empty .... nas by putting the vinyl on the shelves between other records the cover (because its empty and the pressure of the other vinyl on the shelves) the cover will have the "spine" of the cover "smashed" !!!! but thats my experience ... i know i started to use too ... the SpinCare CRYSTAL gatefold sleeves ... they are clear, cheaper fit most of the gatefold albuns pretty well and its less expensive than most of the sleeves ... and the best thing you can open your gatefold without taking of from the sleeves ... ofcourse the vinyl will still be store inside the album cover ... but ofcourse its not "ringwear" free ... . when i use (like you shown) those card sleeves i always use it with the opening up, and then insert the vinyl in the "polyehtene" sleeve with the opening turn into one of the sides ... that way you protect the vinyl from dust ... but you can pick the vinyl easier from the top of the card sleeve .... ... i guess ... everyone has its own strategies and liking on this subject .... eheheh Great vid Greetings from Portugal
Hi! For sure, everyone has their own preferences regarding record storage. Very interesting to hear your methods! I will check out the sleeves you mention. 👍🏻🤓
@@fwrarejazzvinylcollector I get the one sided rice paper. I've spoke with them about a 5 mil outer sleeve, they seem to be working on it. I love the 5mil outers from sleeve city, but they are constantly sold out.
@@drewweissmann1486 Yeah, Sleeve City have had some problems with items being back ordered forever. I managed to get an order fulfilled some months ago, so I’m all set for the forseeable future. But regarding the one-sided rice paper inners; I would try the Sleeve City two-sided ultimate inners. They are fantastic. Much more sturdy and reliable than any one-sided rice paper inner sleeve. Try it, you won’t be disappointed I think. 👍🏻🤓
Really interesting how you sleeve the record, especially with the extra inner sleve. Thanks for sharing! - The only "weakness" I can see is that the inner sleve will potentially rub with the cover, right? Also the cover is open topped and not sealed. If you like to take out the cover a lot, that's maybe a good idea anyway, but if you don't want wear on the cover I think the dual pocket system of "vinyl storage solutions" is the best I've seen so far. Recommend this video with interview of the creator of these sleves: ruclips.net/video/RlPBlenGXGs/видео.html Again, thanks for sharing!
Hi Kjetil, haven’t had any issues with rubbing. Works great I think. But I have thought about adding an extra thin sealable sleeve for the original cover. Have it on some albums. We’ll see. I will stick to my sleeves but I will check the video out! Thanks for the link. 👍🏻🤓

Sounds good, the they are well protected for sure. I’d like to touch my jackets with my fingers though. 🤓

and other thing ...
by storing the vinyl outside the cover, the cover is stored empty .... nas by putting the vinyl on the shelves between other records the cover (because its empty and the pressure of the other vinyl on the shelves) the cover will have the "spine" of the cover "smashed" !!!!
but thats my experience ...
i know i started to use too ... the SpinCare CRYSTAL gatefold sleeves ... they are clear, cheaper fit most of the gatefold albuns pretty well and its less expensive than most of the sleeves ... and the best thing you can open your gatefold without taking of from the sleeves ... ofcourse the vinyl will still be store inside the album cover ... but ofcourse its not "ringwear" free ...
.
when i use (like you shown) those card sleeves i always use it with the opening up, and then insert the vinyl in the "polyehtene" sleeve with the opening turn into one of the sides ... that way you protect the vinyl from dust ... but you can pick the vinyl easier from the top of the card sleeve ....

Groove guard is good for inner sleeves. That's my choice, similar to disk keeper and mofi.
Hi Drew, good tip! Do they have rice paper on both sides or just one?

The company Is Groove washer, I hope they continue to expand..

The sleeve I've just recommended as well. Easily the best sleeve.
