Some years ago a divorce/financial meltdown forced me to sell-off much of my vinyl at a collectors' fare. The ones I kept were all gatefold sleeves. Now I only buy gatefolds, as I need some kind of restriction to keep me from buying too many. (I still have limited funds and space.) Most of my listening is on CD, but I enjoy vinyl occasionally as a special treat for myself.
Ha! Have to Watch the movie and watch that scene. I have 2 of those Blitz comps, hopefully the other is in better shape. Hey, if you are available, let's schedule a livestream.
That Carpenters album has that cool long version of "(They Long To Be) Close To You" all other greatest hits albums have the shortened single version. Johnny Mathis is great, my favorite by him is "It's Not For Me To Say" it always hits the spot with me. Hope you're well. Have lovely day.
Happy new years and welcome back hope you had a fantastic holidays and it's fun to see you go through your collection and seeing what you're going to show for all of us and I really dig sparks 80s albums it's fun and humorous pop music done so well
Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying the collection videos. I totally agree-Sparks’ 80s albums are such a fun mix of humor and great pop music! "I Wish I Looked a Little Better" is such a great track. Have a great week! 😊
When you mentioned "The Power of Gold" it rang a bell in my head and so I listened to it and sure enough I remember hearing it a lot back in 1978. It's on Dan's official channel. Great to hear that again.
"We've Only Just Begun" was my Grade 8 graduation song in 1985. The girls picked it out. I was more into Quiet Riot. LOL There's a RUclips channel called Professor of Rock who talks about music history and interviews musicians and he recently interviewed the Motels. Mathew Modine has been on Stranger Things since the beginning.
Definitely a huge contrast in music tastes there, ha! Thanks for sharing your story. I’ve seen the Professor of Rock, but I never knew about Matthew Modine and Stranger Things. For some reason, I’ve never watched the show. Did you like it?
You made solid calls with these LPs, Stephanie. I'm doing the same on my end as well. That Alex Chilton is pretty rare on Big Time, so definitely hang onto that, as well as any Sparks. Elvis: every home needs The King. Enjoying your channel, and looking forward to what you bring to the table in 2025. Happy New Year! 😎🎉🎶
Hi Ed, great to hear you agree. I’ve been enjoying your channel too and getting to check out all the great soul records you showed on your last video. "Every home needs The King" really made me laugh! Have fantastic week.
I will gladly take the Crystal Gayle record. Thank you. I will be showing the Elvis Presley Blue Hawaii the second Monday in January from Laurie's collection. The standout song for me is Aloha Oe. I enjoyed your video.
Hi Stephanie ! You would know the song The Letter by The Boxtops should it come on the radio. The cool thing about The Replacements song Alex Chilton is it's on an album Produced by .. Alex Chilton ! The lyric Children by the millions sing Alex Chilton is about the band Big Star who Alex led & deserved much success but didn't have it in the 70's. That Depeche Mode 12" is worth a nice sum. I need to delve more into Sparks. Happy 2025 !
Oh yeah! I just listened to "The Letter"-I’ve definitely heard it before. I always thought the intro was memorable. I had no idea Alex Chilton produced that Replacements song-it’s probably one of my top favorite Replacements tracks. Thanks for sharing all this great info! Sparks can be a bit silly, but their music is so good. I still can’t believe the bargain I got on that Depeche Mode record. It must have been before vinyl collecting became trendy. I shamelessly brag about my 99-cent records-lol! Thanks for all the great info David.
It always feels good to cull! As a Memphian, I'm ashamed to say I don't know one song from Alex Chilton/Big Star. I just know lots of power pop type bands were really influenced by them.

minute you held up Married to the Mob “Hey Mambo” instantly popped in my head. Great movie. that RCA new wave comp is pretty cool.

So relieved you kept the Sparks, such a wonderful release! Really enjoy your wide ranging taste in tunes and your videos of course, take care!
Hi Rob. Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it-Sparks is definitely a gem. I really appreciate your kind words. Take care! 😊

Anything Alex Chilton or the Sparks is a keeper in my book.
Big Star influenced a lot of bands as well.
Glad you agree! Thanks for mentioning Big Star-I’ll give them a listen.
Happy new year

I hadn't heard of Big Star either, but I plan on checking them out. Pretty neat to hear you are from Memphis. Have an awesome week. 😀
Hope you are okay out there.
Hi Chris. Yes, doing ok, thanks. Fortunately, I'm a couple hundred miles away from the fires.
Depeche mode great band
have to admit... the elvis and carpenters are two records I've had to cull recently myself.
Getting rid of the classics can be a challenge!
we can't make up your mind for you. Only you can do that.
Hey beautiful
Elvis soundtracks suffer from way too many subpar filler tracks IMO.
