That Dando Shaft is a fantastic psych/folk LP, love it! Also, the Neon label (RCA) had some of the absolute best proggy offerings in the early 70’s. I also spin Raw Material and Spring on occasion. Hands down my favorite offering from Neon is Bob Jackson’s Indian Summer band. Jackson went on to be welcomed into Badfinger and actually wrote and performed on Pete Ham’s final LP “headfirst” which was just remastered / reissued. Anyway, hope you are keeping warm and have a good evening. Later -
Pleased the Bass Communion 2LP arrived okay! Should have been a postcard with it, too. It's moving rapidly, too, so not many left here to purchase (although I'm still shipping direct/pre- orders). Originally, we'd planned to release this in spring but it had to come out earlier due to Steven's new solo album coming in March, so that's why the year on the cover was slightly ahead (it's good that it looks intentional, though!). Very nice looking package, anyway. Wish all my releases could look so tasty!
One World by John Martyn is awesome! The final song on it, Small Hours, is one of the best ambient tracks ever crafted (by good ol drunkard JM, funny how the most intense abrasive people are capable of such beauty). Glad you're into Bass Communion as well (partial to Cenotaph). I'm a massive Steven Wilson fan both solo and with his various projects and always felt as you do that Richard Barbieri added auditory gold to their music. Steven is a master sound designer as well but Richard is something special. Also, your interview with him was one of the best I've seen. He could tell you knew your stuff and it was focused yet casual. Good stuff, that's actually how I found your channel.
Chuck Berry and Little Richard should be on our currency. Love didn't make it because Arthur Lee didn't want to tour outside of Los Angeles. The Doors did tour. There's your difference.
Got to see Arthur Lee live at a small hall near LA. Our friends band, TSOL, opened for him. He had a coffin on stage he climbed out of, make up, and quite a show. Maybe 20yrs ago? Was disappointed that almost everyone who came for TSOL left before his set. Only me and the singer Jack Grisham stayed to watch out of my neighbors. They missed out. It was embarrassing that they didn't get what they were seeing. Hope your family is ok. Luck to the guy who needs to evacuate.
Might have to evacuate our house in LA soon because of the fires. Nice to come on here an have some normalcy. Thank you Dereck
I hope you are safe.
Mornin Dereck!

Trees, Trader Horn, Mellow Candle and a Neon Dando Shaft, I feel quite light headed.
Happy New Year. Hope you got your frozen pipes sorted out.

That was only part of it but I knew that.
