As a side note in Manchester - or more specifically North Manchester when that 'Cool as F*ck' EP came out they promoted it on milk bottles - I still have the milk bottle - I saw IC live a few times - once supporting the Happy Mondays ( I think Noel Gallagher was a Roadie with them!) - anyway later on the singer - Tom Hingley - was teaching music at the same college I was teaching - the head of the college was in the band - ACR - A Certain Ratio... Small town really ... I love 'Joe' great song - I always felt it captured something of Manchester and that time - 'Streetlamp is my home'
With you on Bowie. The Sand album is amazing, too. I need to check this but I think I have an album or two by a different Sand as well. 'Mezzanine' is also a great album. I'd contend it has a very dark edge to its dreaminess, though. An album perfect for the times we're still very much snagged in.
recently picked up the Inspiral Carpets singles collection...Love that style of music...cheers
Mezzanine = Masterpiece: I totally agree. Their best imho. You btw hooked me on to Bennie Maupin's The Jewel in the Lotus. Fantastic.
The Sand cover reminds me of some of your cool album art.

Cool as fuck. 👌
Listening to Anthony Phillips’ “lights on the hill” so beautiful 😭
Inspiral Carpets are terrific. They have an outsider sound.

Some of those Sand covers reminds me distantly of Gal Costas -69 album
