Thanks for the tip off. I’m still spinning my original copy of Ooh la la so I’ve jumped straight onto the Rhino site as it’s also my favourite Faces album as I couldn’t resist a pristine copy. As an oldie with health issues I’ve often said the title track should played as my parting song. When I was a young man, then living in Kent, my pals and I often went to a pub in Blackheath as that band played it regularly, Stewart and the rest lined up at the bar taking some fuel on board. Boy they rocked. Used to be right into Ronnie Lanes solo work as well.

The song Ooh La La has always choked me up where I can't barely sing along with it. That line "poor old Granddad, I laughed at all his ways" and the rest of it, has always pulled on my heart strings. Back when that came out, I was only 16 years old. Now I'm the poor old grandad 😅. I use to love to show my friends while pushing down on the top of the album cover, revealing the mans teeth and saying "Ooh La La" at the same time.

Rod Stewart was not very happy with the “Ooh La La” album. Apparently he didn’t even turn up for the first two weeks of the recording sessions. Maybe Rod’s solo career was taking priority over his work with The Faces. So on the day, Ronnie Wood sang lead vocals on the title track. I remember that the original vinyl LP version was quite short in duration - maybe 30/32 (?) minutes tops. Seems the songwriting talent within the band was drying up. The album is still a good listen though. Remembering Ronnie “Plonk” Lane and Ian “Mac” McClagan - R.I.P. gentlemen.

I keep with my pristine original pressing of Adventure. Great album certainly on a par with Marquee Moon. After that I would rank the first Verlaine solo album. The 90s Televison album and Verlaine stuff don't do much for me.

It is completely insane to compare Adventure to Marquee Moon… I love Television… I love Adventure … But we have to be honest and analytical about this… Adventure to Marquee Moon is like Learning to Crawl to the first Pretenders record… They do not compare… Period…That being said I can’t wait to get adventure on rhino… Oh, and I never tire of Rod’s voice during the Faces era… Elton’s favorite singer… May be mine as well.

Mazzy, I'm perhaps in the minority here but I think Adventure is better than Marquee Moon. Days I first heard at CBGBs. One of the first times I was ever in CBGBs. A few nights later I saw John Cale. Steve Forbert opened for him. It was just months after Steve moved up from Laurel, Mississippi. Great times!

As a Music Vinyl Lover with a Budget? That will be a BIG PASS twice from me. Looks like my January/Feb Vinyl budget will be going to MoFi and AP. For starters this Faces LP isn't even my favorite or listeners choice. Faces "A Nod is as Good as a Wink...to a Bind Horse" is by far a better LP. IMHO better for the Rod Stewart to come. As for Television? And you can buy one LP this month? BUY the lead singer and guitarist for Television Tom Verlaine's recent released "WARM AND COOL" WOW what a LP. I am going to have to buy another one because this one is being playing and will play so much. I would challenge everyone listen to "Warm and Cool" and then "Adventure" and decide which you will listen to more often. Short of a big RHINO Box Set this month? I will be buying Atlantic 75 Yes "Fragile" and Genesis " A Tick of the Trail" over these two RHINO releases. Next?
