- The wait is over! The Chinese and Japanese Gardens out in the west are finally open again.
We last visited the gardens around 10 years ago whilst on holiday in Singapore. Milo was in a buggy and we went with Jonty's Mum and my sister, Sophie. I remember snippets of the day, mostly from looking at old photographs. You can see them in this video too. But walking around this time felt completely different. Like a whole different gardens has been built. It really is remarkable.
After coming home and looking back at our old photos we could see the things that were the same but there is so much more there now to explore and enjoy. It felt like many different mini gardens, each one with something unique to explore and intereact with. There are spaces to rest, have a picnic, shaded places and cafe's too.
The prettiest ice cream cafe can also be found hidden away through the sunken garden. It really is an oasis surrounded by all the plants and running water. A perfect spot to sit a while and enjoy cold drinks and warm homemade waffles with ice cream.
The garden's seem a lot larger than we remember too and we didn't quite get around to seeing all of it. We've also been recommended to visit at night when the lights are on and the gardens take on another vibe in the evening cool.
Do let us know what you think of the gardens and how you remember it being too.
Come and explore with us and find the wonder.

It has been closed for sooo long!! I am really glad that it has reopened.
Agreed!! Well worth the wait though!!
If you are staying near the lakeside garden, your hdb flat will increase in value & my friend is staying in one of those hdb flats just behind the garden.
I’m not surprised! It is a beautiful place to stay near!
looks so nice - its probably going to be even more amazing as the plants grow! I hope you all had a lovely mid-autumn festival and ate plenty of mooncake!
Totally agree!! Yessss!! Thank you - hope you had a lovely Mid-Autumn Festival too!
Was here 2 weeks ago with my wide and kids....the cafe owner is so friendly and the ice cream, waffles and drinks are delicious. i will just come back there just for them.
YES! We thought the same.
Nice! 🌳😊
It really is!!
That looks amazing, we still have a few days here, so will try and do it. We did a great walk around Bukit Timah the other day, we got drenched, but it was amazing
Always good to embrace the rain!! Do let us know if you make it there!! Hope you are having a wonderful stay!
shud go...u can cover 3 gardens in one day (Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden and Jurong Lakes Garden)....then u can have ur meal at Fusion Spoon at Jurong Lakes Garden near the water play area...or u can walk out and walk a further 10mins to Taman Jurong shopping or market for cheaper meal options.
Great suggestion.
Yuhua food centre and Yuhua Village food centre also has lots of affordable good food.
Thanks for the tips!
The Chinese gardens looks so beautiful. 😊
It sure is.
where your handsome son?
He was at a friend’s house that day! 😊
Nice sharing! Did you miss the Water Lily Garden, the Waterwall Court and Bonsai Garden? Or there's part 2?
Hehe this park is just so big we ran out of time. We made quick walk through those areas but will go back for sure. Not sure about a part 2, maybe!
@WONDERLUSTworld haha, yeah this place is huge. Been there 3x (coz I live nearby) and still found new areas I missed the previous visit. Hey, why not a part 2! Don't have to rush it, though. Anytime you're free.
We will be going back so a part two could work ☺️
So there will be a Part 2?😅 You should visit Chinese Garden late in the evening and when it gets dark. You will see lots of people jogging. The ice cream cafe at the Sunken Garden is really beautiful at night.
Did you visit the breathing gallery over there? It's air conditioned.
I wish and hope they will bring back the Live Turtle Museum which used to be there b4 the renovation. At least people can visit it and support the museum so that the turtles or tortoise have a forever home over there. And hope the otters and monitor lizards find it's way there😊
Yes, Breathing Gallery has terrariums and natural scape fish tanks inside. Nice when there are fewer people in the mornings. The waterlilies also bloom in the morning more.
It sounds like we sure missed some stuff, we just ran out of time.
I'm not sure if there will be a part two but we will definitely be back to explore all that we didn't see this time round.
I didn't know the live turtle museum used to be there, we did go and visit it at Orto. I do hope they find a place for all those animals to go to.
yes..do hope the live Turtle Museum is brought back there....much more spacious and nicer.
I am staying near you guys, I am staying at Serangoon. 😊
Ah hello neighbour!
@@WONDERLUSTworld Hope we could explore Singapore together, my husband is keen to meet you guys 😊
Such a beautiful park. Seeing you and Sophie 10 years ago. Amazing. Shows that photos and videos hold great memories.
Maybe a place to visit when I come over. Lovely to watch. Very relaxing. 💜
Yea I’ll take you, and treat you to ice cream 😉
Hello friends, I hope you guys are doing fine, I always enjoy watching your videos, stay safe & healthy always. 😊
Thanks.
@@WONDERLUSTworldHow are you guys doing? 😊
Good thanks. Enjoying the weekend, hope you are too.
@@WONDERLUSTworldI hope we could say hello to each other personally. 😊
Thx for an interesting exploration of the garden. Its quite amazing how great things they had done sprucing up the garden to it more exciting to visit. Btw any future plan for a visit to the Japanese Garden near by.
They really have done a great job. We do go to the Japanese gardens too in this video ☺️ just didn’t manage to get all the way around it.
Don't take why it closed so early... 7pm.
To keep people safe from falling in the waters after dark I think…
*The garden looks empty even sometimes during weekend its empty we love the British🇬🇧 it was fun watching you walk in there worth visiting during cooler season!* ❤️🇸🇬
Depends on when you go there. The crowd are more in the morning and early evening. After 11am to ard 3pm, it's quieter coz it's so hot, as the new plants are trees are not stable yet.
It's quite a large park which means it doesn't feel crowded which is nice.
We're looking forward to see how it looks in a few months once the plants have had time to grow some more.
Hope it is still FREE to enter. Knowing how notorious entrance fees are charged in SG......
It's totally free! But do check nparks website for the opening hours. Some areas are closed after 7pm
I don’t know where you have been charged?? NParks are free and WONDERFUL. In the UK many national trust parks are charged on entry!
I think they close at 7 as there are areas where the water’s edge has not got barriers. It gets dark after 7 and there are no nearby lights!
Haha 1027, there you go again, uttering nonsense & spreading fake info 😃
Now that you have come to the new Chinese & Japanese gardens, how is this compared to the new Bidadari Park?
The two are so different it is hard to compare. For me, (Millie) Bidadari Park is more rugged which I like and will also be a practical advantage as we will have a beautiful shortcut for our walk to and from work/ school. The Chinese Gardens is very planted and more like a show room park if that makes sense! More of an attraction to explore and enjoy. Have you been to both, what do you think?
@@WONDERLUSTworld I live near Jurong Lake Garden and I run to the park min three times a week. Since the opening of the two gardens, I run more often than usual. I have never been to Bidadari Park because is a distance from my place and I wonder whether it is worth the travel.
It’s a lot smaller. And to do a long run you’d need to do a few loops around but there are lots of little pathways and some off road too so it’s more of a varied terrain which is quite nice.
This weekend is maybe the best time to visit cause the East West MRT line is down for the weekend. Means less maids doing their dancing videos around!
What's wrong with them doing dancing videos? You dont like dancing, or you dont like their presence?
We find the dancing quite endearing! Is great to see the helpers having their own sense of community after working so much in the week 😊
