    Great video and accurate analysis! We have an ‘04 GX470 and a ‘13 XC90 R Design 3.2 V6 FWD. Both have about 70K miles and while the Volvo is more dynamic, the interior parts haven’t aged well. The Lexus, on the other hand, has no squeaks or significant wear other than the front seats’ leather, and feels like a tank! We love our combo as they both serve their purpose. But the Lexus is SOLID.

    I'de drive the XC90 every day of the week and the GX on the weekends... Since the XC90 is a BARGAIN on the used market compared to the GX, I drive a XC90 7 Days a week... and I love it, way more reliable than most people would expect a 20year old luxury SUV, and it's still feels like driving the safest car on the road. Xc90 for me. Love the xc90 v8. Wish the tranny was stronger but aside from that, an absolute perfect motor. I have a virtual exact one. Mine is the only v8 in ireland as it was a special import for Tony Smurfit, the guy who invented tetrapak cartons. I got it at auction for 7k euro with 70k on the clock and in mint condition.

    I used to have an 07 GX470, around 2014ish before it got wrecked by a red light runner. And I swear to this day it’s the best riding highway vehicle (in full comfort setting) that I’ve ever been in. Hi Bern, I own a 2007 XC90 V8 with 250K km on it. It has some oil leak and I am suspicious of the crankshaft front seal. Have you changed this seal? How could you open the harmonic balancer bolt? Is there any other common leak point on this engine?

      Hello! Very nice. I haven't personally had to change that seal! Many helpful write-ups on SwedeSpeed!

    Comparing the XC90 to the Lexus RX I think the Volvo wipes the floor with the RX, not even close. Here it's closer but also more different.

    • @asadb1990
      @asadb1990 2 месяца назад +2

      Lol no way. The rx from the 1st gen are still on the road. how many old volvo are on the road. Working on the rx is super easy compared to the volvo. Finally the parts are crazy expensive on the volvo compared to toyota. Finally finding mechanics is a chore on the volvo because most mechanics will rip you off for european cars. Lexus/toyota have tons of mechanics readily available.

      Hmm. RX 400h vs XC90?

  • @WaylonDog
    @WaylonDog 2 месяца назад +3

    The XC90 has aged so much better than the GX. Volvo had mastered timeless exterior styling and exterior styling was a bit of an afterthought for pre recession Lexus. I don’t think I ever really loved the look of the Lexus lineup until the mid 2010s with the debut of the spindle grille, while Volvo has had a nice lineup as long as time.

    If you had a kid driving a car for the first time. You better get them the xc90. I saw how a 18 wheeler couldnt brake and crushed that same type volvo and push it into incoming traffic and got into a head collision from the other side the lady driving it walked away unscratched. I have never seen anything like that. No other car would give you a second chance at life like an xc90. Also there is a video floating around how in Europe an xc70 head on collides with an 18wheeler and the volvo driver walks away. Don't forget what volvo is for. Is for surviving a crazy as crush
