I really needed this, i was close to buying expensive curriculum and the lab kit but just reading the sample textbooks i knew this wasn't going to hold my attention or interest much less my son's. Thank you putting this out, it makes so much more sense for my boys.
Im homeschooling my son. He just turned 12. My daughter is now 20 yrs old and has decided to pursue a career working with animals. She has a job at Petco as a lead in the animal/aquatics department. She absolutely loves it. She also volunteers at a ranch where she takes care of horses and is involved in a program for rehabilitation for elderly folks and volunteers at our local wildlife center. In our home, we have a diversity of pets. Our pets are all exotic. We have Julian hes a peruivian guinea pig, Amy is our hedgehog, Peaches is our millipede, Guava a Pacman frog and we have a bioactive fresh-water fish tank with African dwarf frogs, mystery snails rabbit snails, ghost shrimp, cooliloach, and a beta fish named Absolum. We love science and nature. Living in the California Valley/ East Bay gives us a variety of opportunities to get our and learn about different ecosystems, plant and animal life. I currently have a succulent garden, so I'm teaching my son about desert/ coastal plants right now. As far as curriculum is concerned, one of my free resources is the California Academy of Science. They have over 900 free lesson plans for all grade level. Although I don't use grade levels in our homeschool, in my opinion, grade levels are unnecessary in homeschool. I could say we are unschooling, but it's not completely led by my son and his interests. We do a variety of different methods, really. That's the beauty of homeschooling. Having the freedom to mix and match how you please is so much more beneficial for children, and it really keeps their minds busy, creative, and wanting to learn. Especially with reading. My son didn't learn to read until he was 8 yrs old. I didn't pressure him to learn. I just read books to him, and then I gradually started introducing phonics. One thing about public school is that it doesn't teach our children to read correctly. They teach with SIGHT WORDS vs. phonological awareness, sounding out words vs. memorization. This is why children can not read proficiently and their comprehensive skills are affected as well. My son, at age 12, reads proficiently and at the same level as a 9th grader. This is a tremendous help when it comes to learning & comprehending science. I really enjoyed your video. I've watched many homeschool channels on RUclips yours; I will continue to watch.
Thanks for sharing this "hidden treasure" sweet mama! Such good advice here and you are spot on!!!! It doesn't have to be "curricuoum" for learning to happen! 🤗🧡
Thank you so much for this! We are starting homeschooling this year for my grade 3,2 and pre-k kids and we’re doing bought curriculum... 🤯 it was way too much and stressful! I love this idea and totally love the idea of following what my kids are interested in and go with their pace!! Thank you!!

Yes! I love your little cartoon inserts too!
We love the library too. I miss going into it though. We still have to reserve.
Ha ha!! Thank you!! I’m sorry you can’t go in yet 😣 Usually I go by myself anyway.

Yes!!! 👏🏻👏🏻💗💗
Thank you. This is exactly what we do and my kids retain more information this way than compared to sit down instruction.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video!! Love this idea. So freeing from the mundane of textbooks. God bless ❤️ My granddaughter is all about animals.
Oh, thanks so much, Kim! Good to hear from you! This was one of my favorite videos to make.
