Thank you, Ladies! Excellent guidance 💐💐
You're so welcome, thanks for joining us!
I just love when Karen comes to visit! You two are such a great pair, I could listen to your wisdom for hours! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful insight!
I love Karen so much! I was so lucky to be able to attend the first SCM conference a few years ago and went on a Nature Walk with Karen and her husband, and they are such delightful people! I love how scientific they are and how personable-it was just such a highlight of my homeschool life.
I love your enthusiasm and approach for this subject. I was a science major and worked as a scientist before my first baby, and honestly, a majority of the interest and joy I had in the field was somewhat killed by all the didactic training of the high school and college environment. So, I am looking forward to rediscovering God’s creation with new eyes as I teach my children using the Charlotte Mason method. I’ve spent too many years being dulled to the daily opportunities of delight and discovery in the outdoors.
These are my favorites videos ❤️🙏
Hello Sonya, you and Karen seem like such good mothers. I wish you too would make a video with advice you would give to a mother just starting out, more practical, non-homeschool topics. It seems you also have amazing relationships with your children and I would love to hear more about how those were cultivated.
"Comtinue to develop their love for nature...Nature study allows us to see God's world". I love this.
After a decade of schooling in the home, I have decided that my grade school children don't need textbooks for science and we just do living books.
So good. This channel is so important to my family. Thank you!
Such a great topic. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and conversation.
I've heard from other you tubers about some conversational textbooks that you would recommend. Unfortunately I haven't heard such from your own mouth or seen recommendations on your website. Do you have recommendations for conversational textbooks, is that information buried in some obscure article that I've not run across yet?
Hi Danielle. Dr. Jay Wile has written new science texts for the middle school years that we are excited to recommend: Science in the Atomic Age (grade 7) and Discovering Design with Earth Science (grade 8). Both of these texts are written in a conversational tone to the student. You can find our current high school recommendations here: simplycharlottemason.com/planning/curriculum-guide/individual-graded-subjects/
Thank you, that was so helpful. I don't know how I've missed that entire page on your website. I'll definitely have to bookmark it for future reference and curriculum planning. Your team is the best!
Any recommendations on high school science textbooks? Not all my children have loved Apologia
Hi, Thank you for reaching out with your question! SCM currently recommends Dr. Wile's textbooks published by Berean Builders. These textbooks are written in a conversational style. If you are familiar with Dr. Wile's previous books published by Apologia, there has been a change from those in these newer books. Dr. Wile writes directly to the student and there is not an assumption that there will be an adult in the room that knows more about this topic and can help the student with the content. You can see which of Dr. Wile's textbooks are recommended at each of the high school levels by clicking on the grade level drop down at this link:

@@SimplyCharlotteMason thank you for answering. I'll look into it
I am so excited to start our 2nd year of homeschool with my future kindergartener and 2nd grader. Which science topics do you recommend them being exposed to and what would be a good pace for transitioning through those subjects?
Hi Tiffany. What a great age to spend time acquainting children with nature!! In the early years, learning about the world around them, the world they can see, smell, explore, etc is ideal. You can learn more about our living science curriculum here: simplycharlottemason.com/store/living-science-courses/
@@SimplyCharlotteMason We have Discovering/ and Exploring what God Has Made from SCM for my 11 and 8 yr old and I love it!!
