So basically memory lane is a game mode with only returning scenery from the first game like day, pool and roof. Don’t know if they will add night and fog in the future, but every week you get a new set of levels like penny’s pursuit. Also every week has a modifier that changes the game, one good one bad. SFE, explosive plants get half the cost while acid rain falls that damage both the plants and zombies.
The biggest missed opportunity for this game was making the og zombot the final boss for modern day

As much as I love seeing OG Zomboss again, this level feels very clunky and unfinished (like almost every newer worlds), Zomboss's animation is very janky, Zombies walk over Flower Pots for some reason, and it just feels like they added Zomboss back for the sake of nostalgia bait.

@Safwaan they've retextured zombies for different events... They can retexture the pilot zombie then use it in future events of penny pursuit or battlez like they do with many other zombies aftwr they are done adding them for the boss fight

2:10 I think Hypnotized Zombies are bugged out, eating where Zomboss is, but I don't think they will actually do damage unless he brings his head down. Surprised he doesn't just stomp on the Hypnotized zombie like a plant in PvZ1 if you plant too close to his feet :
it would not be suprising if there, there was a hurt box which only plants damage but zombies still reconise it.

Edit: After looking through the comments I see a lot of people loving this. Is there honestly any other reason besides it being from PvZ1? Even ignoring how the sprites look traced, this fight looks really janky and dragged on.
Exactly my point. I'm not gatekeeping old fans, but praising something of poor quality literally because of nostalgia is unacceptable.

@@bonkchoy8393 if talkweb honestly thinks that this is polished and high quality, then their standards are absolutely awful. Look at Kongfu World and Sky City when popcap was still developing. Just go and take a look at this fight closely. So much of it seems rushed and scuffed. Although to give credit where its due, the art isnt bad at all.
This mode is called "Journey of Remembrance". It is originally a mode for players to experience pvz1 in pvz2. It is not the main line, but an activity. Players can choose not to play
@@zhtpro5927 even if it isnt in the main line, it still shouldnt be so seemingly rushed and badly done. Even so, some of the exclusive main worlds (namely steam age) are also really badly made
The lack of the Bungee Zombie attack (Combined with Zomboss using the van attack really infrequently) holds back this version of the fight a lot. It makes the Zombot incredibly repetitive to fight.
alright time for some problems
-the whole fight feels slower than how it is in PVZ1 and that's weird since PVZ2 is known for it's fast pace bosses
-the Zombot isn't affected by Winter's Ice even though it should like in PVZ1
-whatever is going on with Balloon Zombie
- the degrades look awful. Infact the whole bot looks traced from PVZ1
-Zomboss looks too large compared to his apperances in the other bosses
-hypnotized Zombies don't get damaged which is easily abusable
-no music
-why would he ONLY send FF Zombies in the last phase and not Zombies from every world AND SUMMON THEM IN THE FIRST FEW PHASES

Honestly the sad truth is that at this point we are just using the plants as weapons, even maybe against their will, as we are dragging them through time just to defend us from the zombie attack, it would be nice if they made a game where the plants get tired of being used as weapons and turn against us or something like that

Finishing the International Version of PVZ 2 and just having the same 3 bosses you fought before is so lame compared to this lol, even tho this one is a bit unpolished lolol
The 3 zombots have a theory surrounding it, that popcap is preventing them from making it, I have no clue how this theory started but it just exists. When being asked about these zombots, they just ignore the question and said will talk about it another time.
When I look at that theory, since all 31 levels of Modern Day are set in the modern world and the bosses are set at different worlds, Zomboss transports you there to fight against this paradox. Since time is messing up, different plants from other worlds are selected to fight against different kinds of zombots.

I don't mind anyone liking things for nostalgia, but I just hate how lazily made this is and how people are overpraising it with that. All of this is literally traced drawing, and if you look closely at the details some stuff wasn't even traced or traced properly.
@GG Man they did make minor changes, but onky stuff like there being 3 pool lanes and iceberg stopping a fireball from the zombot. Still the jank animations and lazily drawn level maps.

Little? Much, much more in fact. PopCap would've made an outstanding amount of new players if they added the pvz2 chinese worlds into international and polished them.

@@lebollsong Sometimes I talk bad about PopCap because of certain choices they made with the second game, but I must admit that when it comes to the Adventure mode, they did well, some parts I don't like very much, but yeah, I have to agree that they would manage to polish the worlds exclusive to the chinese version and probably this battle with the og zombot as well.

Welp,this doesn't look good at all. So many things about this are weird and janky. Like the Balloon Zombie,Sweet Potato moving the Zombot,it doesn't use its stomp to kill nearby hypno'd zombies and plants and especially the fact that you need to be fast or Disco mechs will rock you (unless you have Blover)

and the sky is blue.
The confusion and suspense of the original zomboss opening is something that can't be quite replicated in PvZ2, plus why have rooftops level out of nowhere in this world
I wished that there was a different boss fight for the Modern Day world instead of replaying old ones, this is basically what I imagined in my head the first time I played though the game XD

This is just proof that PVZ 2 China was unfortunately, a quick cash grab by talkweb. As much as the stuff they add to China is good, most of it is not well thought out and VERY unpolished. Every plant is meant to counter this one zombie in this one world, a lot of the gimmicks are not thought out properly, and animations and logistics are very unfinished. Literally, look at Zombot. Bro literally goes left right on sweet potato.

The pots just dissapear instead of actually being squished, 0/10 completely unplayable.
I think the latest model for zombot in the PvZ 1 Pak mod has an appearence more akin to the PvZ Heroes and Garden warfare style with the angry eye lids. THAT is my favourite sprite of zombot in any PvZ game. He just looks so menacing with those angry eye lids

In all seriousness, my thoughts on the return of the original Zombot? Mixed feelings, MOSTLY disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they brought it back, but the WAY they brought it back & the execution are the problems. You gotta remember that this is the China version of PvZ 2, they didn't even bring it back in the actual/international PvZ 2. What's worse is that they brought it back in Memory Lane, which is basically an event, they didn't even bring it back in the mainline story.
If they were gonna bring back the original Zombot, I was hoping they would at least bring back the first game's plants & zombies, more specifically Bungee Zombie and Ice-shroom. And well, they brought them back in a way, with Iceberg Lettuce's plant food and I guess Lost Pilot Zombie from Lost City... but you know, it's just like... the fact that they didn't kind of ruins a bit of the nostalgia, you know?
Like I get that not all games can add everything into a sequel, but... if you're gonna add a boss fight from the first game of the series after who knows how many years into the second game that kind of REQUIRES certain characters to be in the game since they were essential to that boss fight in the first game... the least you could do is add those specific characters.... but instead, you just straight-up replace them or just remove them entirely without any explanation....... you know, the nostalgia of that boss fight just doesn't hit as hard, regardless of how similar you keep it to the game it originated in... it just kind of seems like you don't care, and you just wanna add the boss fight for the sake of it.
Also, you gotta remember that this was basically the final boss of PvZ 1, and instead of making it the final boss of PvZ 2, they just reused other Zomboss fights. Like they just outright replaced the Zombot, the final boss of PvZ 1 with reused content and put it as an event boss as if it wasn't that important in PvZ 1. If you put the final boss in a later installment of your series in a presumedly "non-canon" event boss in a "side game" and not the actual mainline game, you're just kinda making this "what once was a final boss" look like a complete joke.
Like I know who I'm talking about here, I know who made this game..... and PvZ 2 + all the other games have their problems.... but this........ THIS is just on a whole 'nother level.
TL;DR: I'm happy they brought back the original Zombot, but the way they brought it back, the noticeable lack of polish is just, the bad animation, the execution, and a lot of other.... "things"..... not good. The nostalgia doesn't hit anywhere near as hard. Can't say I was expecting much else, but still. I'm honestly very 90/10 about this (90% disappointment, 10% not disappointment).
I think the Gargantuar Prime and Disco-Tron are a reference to the Garden Warefare series since Zomboss was evolving his technology in those games. Not to mention that disco zombie is a boss in all three of them were the Gargantuar Prime is a boss in the last two.
Still a little wierd seeing those 2 as zombies he can summon so I am going to guess its because of the whole "time travel" theme of the game.
Plus there is technically no Disco Zombie so the Disco-tron makes up for it

There are so many bad things about this. The badly remade zomboss design, the inumerous bugs, badly made animations (ngl the animation for the fireball dissapearing is completely disgusting), graphics, sound effects, (grave buster fire and ice ball) and more that i don't even wanna mention.
This is just nostalgia bait with little to no effort.

@@spectralfr I'm sorry but I failed to see kind of unique idea that you are talking about. All I see is they reused the ancient egypt zomboss and slap in there pirate seas plants, BWB zomboss and slap in frostbite caves plants, jurrasic marsh and slap in mornden day plants. Even this poorly made chinese of a game have better idea to use pvz1 zomboss than 3 copy and pastes with different world plants. I hate that instead of looking clearly, you choose to defend international pvz2 and slaughter pvz2 chinese and not even without looking at both games flaw.
Lets talk about pvz2 international's law first the idea are almost non to existence. They just slap in 3 zomboss from 3 different worlds and let us use plants from different worlds and call it a day instead of thinking of using pvz1 zomboss or original zombosses.
Now pvz2 chinese's flaw they have great idea but with poor execution and polishment. And they even have their lazy day do you see their mess? Lack of balance, some of their plants are outright op or too niche too be good and some of the zombies are too strong for the shake of it. Example the guard-gantuar, etc... Lack of polishment are everywhere you can see it just by looking at picture. The idea of using pvz1 zomboss shown in the videos are good but with horrendous execution. This should've been the end of pvz2 for the nostalgia or with new zomboss. Depend on people opinions it is either a bad idea or good idea. And in your situation it is a bad idea. This is all I have to say have a good day or night.
@@sleepycat01234 still, that is something unique. You may seem to see them lazy, but apparently, it's not. Modern day bosses are supposed to be challenging, and it explains the 5 jalapeno difficulty. After you successfully complete 31 days in the modern world, zomboss transports you into a time paradox which is the other worlds, only this time, different types of plants to use to defeat them. It's about messing time itself, and also challenging.
@@ZombieMiraculer74 lore wise yeah it is cool but gameplay wise not so much. they could made a zomboss fight that transports you into a time paradox. they could made him summon zombies from different worlds to fight you and make you fight him with different plants and everytime his health bar is reach he change zombies and your plants too. It is difficult to make I know but they can't just make the lore excuse to just make you fight that 3 zomboss that you already met and make you fight with different plants if that is not lazy then idk what is even more lazier than that.

I think this boss fight would work as a good callback if it essentially took new zombies and used them like the parachute ambushers as the bungee zombies or have a special barrel roller that leaves the ground frozen.
However these are only nitpicks as at least they tried to have the original PVZ1 fight
For me having 8 boss + circus boss to fight in penny's pursuit is enough in international version. but it feels good to have original zombot return in pvz franchise.
Also if zombies are level 2, is the zombie level is same like penny's pursuit?
They are officially kn0own as tiers, they bring drastic difference. A tier 4 could have same health as level 9. If a zombie is tier 3 and you have tier 1 magnet, tangle kelp, then you could do nothing about them. Magnet shroom doesnt work with tier 3 zombies unless its tier 3 itself. Tangle kelp damages zombie tho
I always wanted this Classic Zombot to be the boss of Modern Day. Really big oppurtunity missed by PopCap.
It always really got on my nerves how they just decided to recycle the Zombots from before into a 3-pack, instead of making a true final boss for it like the original Zombot

I like how it's not a converybelt level and it seems he doesn't spam the fire and ice balls as much (probably because jalapeno and iceberg cooldowns) The fire and ice shtick feels looser too, like it's not necessary to play the way they intended you know.
While many people argue about PVZ 2 International and China versions. can't we all just appreciate that they brought back the zombot we all remember to have nightmares with when he summons forth his flame and ice boulders at us and even the RV? anyways the modders of PVZ 1 Would say "It's about time" to have the PVZ2 Zombot than the PVZ Heroes version which both look good. Hopefully the fandom would continue making good fangames or more PVZ content than EA'S Garbage work.

I know it’s probably hard for the devs to work on this but they could’ve tried a bit better.
-Make the level conveyer belt like the original (and with similar plants like the catapults and iceberg lettuce as replacement of ice shroom) so bugs like with sweet potato doesn’t occur and let players counter the fire/ice balls
-fix the bug with Jetpack zombies in roofs
-include sound, stolen or not adding any other piece of music to sound interesting would really be appreciated so it isn’t just empty

I know there are some kind of meh things abt this but just hearing the sound of the og zomboss battle being played on a PVZ2 remodeled map is just so nostalgic, I love how it sitll kind of fints ( if you kinda squint) i know zomboss really isnt a part in pvz2 gamestyles but this is a very good addition

Should have been the ending of the actual game or they should have made it so there are the same amount of phases as there are worlds and each phase teleports you to. Specific world. Each world would have conveyer belts but they give you that world’s plants so you could potentially get every single plant at least once throughout the fight. When teleported the plant will be left where it was and the zombies that weren’t killed before phase shift still remain on the lawn. On top of that because its the final battle it should all be final phase level of zombies like there will be gargantuas except for the neon mixtape where I think they should have made a song that mixes all elements and just made it so all zombies have their powers active. (This will probably be the hardest part). Maybe after Jurrassic the dinosaurs on the lawn also come with to cause more chaos and the final phase of the fight should be in modern day but with portals from different worlds opening everywhere. Just pure chaos. It would have been god damn hard but it would have been better than the one we actually got. As nice as seeing the OG Zombot in PVZ2 is, I think maybe an original final boss would be better or at the very least, the way it fights and/or the strategy to beat it was different enough. I mean, that'd be like if Super Mario Bros. 2 had Bowser as the final boss and the fight was very similar to how it was in Super Mario Bros. 1.

@@nickytembo4112 Well, design-wise, I was thinking of the new Zombot would look like a Zombot head with two hands. Gameplay-wise, given the theme of the game, the new Zombot can change time periods (though, chronologically) like going to Jurassic Marsh and then Frostbite Caves before eventually going back to the time period it was originally in. So like, if the new Zombot's in Neon Mixtape Tour, then it only summons zombies from that world. The new Zombot uses its hand(s) (or head if there's no hands left) to crush any plant placed very close to it. In each phase, the new Zombot loses each hand before being just the head before finally being defeated.

Ha, bullshit. If you thought that PvZ2 International was bad (even though it really isn't), it had nothing on China. For example, sun can be bought using in-game currency, even in it's PVP mode Arena. Also, the fast-forward button is behind a paywall. Also, the game barely fucking functions half the time. A plant/zombie/game mechanic that looks good, functions properly or both is incredibly rare. It's the exception, not the norm.
Maybe play the game before deciding which one is better.
