Hey everyone.
A lot of people have problems with the grips peeling away on the XBOX One Elite Controller., me included. I have bought some SCUF gaming grips (links below) and in this video I demonstrate how to change the grips so that you can have new SCUF grips on your Elite controller.
You can do this any time whether your grips are damaged or not and I think they add a bit of extra grip to the controller.
Its scary to do first time but once you get used to it the swap is very simple.

Just bought an after market replacement (supposedly oem) grips which came with the spudger but no instructions. Happy to say your video did the trick, thanks pal.

Thanks for showing this I was thinking of buying this set, the grips on my elite are coming off now. Unfortunately I’m not sure if SCUF is shipping to Canada right now, I might have to wait a bit.
Possibly but you could try amazon. Also eXtremeRate have a decent line of replacement grips. They are more inline with the oem grips than the Scuf ones.
I haven’t had mine elite grips fall out yet is it due to like really crazy sweaty gaming? I sweat too and I play a lot of siege but I also bought the scuff grips it feels nice when it’s dry but make your hands super sweaty lol
I don’t think you have to get really sweaty, it’s just heat. I do have quite hot hands and that will have played a part in it. The SCUF grips feel like they will probably last longer but I do prefer the standard elite grips in terms of comfort.
The heat from your hands expands the rubber, making it want to break free from the existing glue. All the while, the oil from your hands (not necessarily related to sweat) will break down the glue over time.

I got my elite controller used and it had this scuf grips. Love them however the inner ribber that wasn’t changed is extremely torn apart
When the grips do that to your triggers. re install the grip. you're missing one of the hooks that clamp it to the controller. It is pushing itself towards the trigger.

Thanks :) I’ve now moved on to the Elite 2 but the Scuf grips lasted until the day I switched with no signs of peeling or damage.

What about the lower grip, can that be replaced too or do you just glue it down.
As far as I know there is no replacement for the inner grips. There are commenters on my scuf vs elite video that say you can get glues to stick the grips back. The grips typically stretch so you need to cut them to shape then use a glue to fix it. Have a look at some comments on that video and see if there is anything that works for you.

I've heard that these grips get sticky and allow stuff from you're hands to stick to the grip and that they wear down easily is this true thank you!!
No. They do pick up a lot of gunk and are difficult to clean but they haven't worn down on me.

No, the SCUF grips are fine. I don’t think they feel quite as nice as the Elite grips but they feel fine enough and like they are there to stay.
@@TootXB well that's good to hear atleast they might hold on longer. I'm on the same side of the fence there about the feeling. I'm waiting to see if they make a similar grip pattern to try. 👍
To be fair, it was a year before the standard grips gave up and I have only had these on for a month or two. They feel secure though, I’d be disappointed if they came apart as well.

See, the thing I did, I forge swords and knives and such, so I have this leather, and I engraved it with grooves for better holding, as well as a swear channel, and then I applied that to the degripped og handle. And it worked out very well, also are you okay mate, I saw that you hurt your left hand
Haha, I think I just cut it on something. It’s healed up now 👍 good work on making your own grips! I could never do that. Mrs Toot probably could though.

I don’t think that is the case. When comparing the 2 shells the Scuf grip is noticeably different. Once shaved it was fine. Other people have reported this too.
Can you add the back “grips” of a standard Xbox one controller to the elite controller?
No. The back is a full housing and the standard controller lacks the build needed to hold the elite circuit board and buttons. You may be able to do it with modification...
Can you do the same with the razer wolverine ultimate?
When I put the grip on my shooting button keep getting stuck on the bottom and it wont come back up
Did you check to see if there is a bit that needs shaving down inside the grip? If you watch this whole video I think towards the end I talk about shaving a bit down to stop the trigger scraping.
Can I just replace the grips with my ones off my old Xbox controller that I no longer use or do you need to buy special ones for The elite controller
I think the shape is slightly different. When you buy grips/side rails they usually specify elite or default controller which suggests they are different.
The trigger grip of the xbox one elite is compatible with the original controller?

Is this controller worth getting? I’ve been thinking about getting this controller but I’ve seen lots of reviews on the grips falling apart
Mine came off after a year and I would not say I mistreated it. I have hot hands and do play for long sessions at times so the adhesive just gave up eventually I feel. Keep it in a cool place when not in use and treat probably helps a lot. Don’t be put off by those comments in reviews, anything can fall apart depending on what you put it through. This is my 4th controller and have this one 6 weeks and already the grips are coming off.... if you get it just instantly replace grips or dont get it at all...

Il H0MICIDE lI okay! It should fit. Scuf makes Xbox grips which should perfectly fit in. But the problem will be, if the rubber grips falls out, then the inner grips probably would fall out too but idk. I don’t have the controller.
Does anyone know where to buy the inside part of the grip? Everyone is selling the outer part but my inside one is the one that's peeling off lol
You can't replace just the inside grips. Search for an Elite backplate or back housing.

I’m not sure about scuf but you Can find plenty of aftermarket grips for regular controllers.
what about the inside grips?
They are not changeable themselves. You would have to buy a whole new rear housing for the controller.
Anyone else knows how to replace the other piece of grips?

I don’t know, I haven’t tried. It definitely wouldn’t fit on the original Xbox one controller. If you want to place a standard controller’s grips, there are a lot of aftermarket options out there that might be better than the Scuf.

I honestly don’t know, I haven’t tried it or taken the grips off both controller types to see. I would recommend you don’t buy them without knowing for sure. I would recommend looking for grips specific to your controller. There are good ones out there that will give you hair trigger stops too

Then just Identify what's causing the issue on the one grip then get some sand paper then sand the Piece down a little bit . But the point being you really shouldn't have to do that & there lay the issue that I have with ALL scuff products there Quality control on all the products is absolutely Shit & not worth the money . And any company that at one point supported doing Illegal mods such as a Rapid fire button Feature isn't ok in my book . But like I said aside from that I've had scuff controllers & they had been complete absolute shit . I order one it had issue right out of the box , sent it back got a brand new one like a week later boom another issue entirely different then the first . Scuff controllers & the company its self are plagued with issues
Yeah, I had issues with the infinity controller I bought and I sent it back. It wasn’t for me.
@@TootXB infinity Controller don't known much about it , like I said I don't fuck around with scuff any more. Yeah I just stick with the Xbox Elite , even though the grips peel . The first one I had I got right when they first released it had a couple issues with peeling grips & it had Thumbstick drift , got it replaced & have had the new one ever since. But to me it doesn't matter the controller is worth every Cent . I can't even use a regular controller any more it just feel awkward & weird in the hands , thankfully the new Gen 2. Elite is coming out in a couple months . Super hyped about it & can't wait to finally pick it up . So what controller do you use now ?
I still use an Elite. The one that peeled casing me to try out the Scuf is now Mrs Toot's controller. I modified it loads (I have a video on the channel showing how to mod it) so she can use it. I then got a custom blue elite controller (there is an unboxing video on the channel of that one) which is now the one I use. I WILL be getting an Elite 2 :)

I don’t think they fit. However, you can buy plenty of aftermarket grips for the standard controllers. Some of them come with hair triggers so you can give it a little upgrade at the same time.

What’s the problem with it? All I really know is how to replace the trigger itself. And detach the rumbles.

It’s a great controller but I don’t know that it’s worth selling a PS4 and games just to move to Xbox so you can use one :)

I have never touched a Wolverine so I cannot say for sure. To be safe I would say its unlikely that you can put SCUF grips on it as they are made specifically for the Elite which has a slightly different build to the standard controller.
