Great vid. I did however remove my Hogue grips after a year and put the originals back on. This isnt a range gun and the original design is extremely smooth. No hang or snag. The trigger guard is even thinner then most S&W revolvers. So i opted for the thinner grips and frankly I have overcome the recoil to the point of understanding what the designers did. Extremely concealable and very easy to move from one carry place to another pertaining to situational awareness. I love this pistol.
@@tonobaker601 Sure, I said that I have overcome the recoil. Full power +P loads can Buck with this lightweight thin gripped revolver. So many opt for a thicker grip for better control. But this pistol is not a range gun I believe that S&W designed this pistol for ultra conceal ability no matter where you carry it. Super smooth draw, point and shoot accuracy from the hip or inside a pocket With devastating full power loads. That’s my understanding for what it’s worth. I’m far from a expert. But I know this. I can have this pistol IWB and be walking out of a establishment or to a ATM and move it to a pocket or palm it without my wife or anybody noticing
100% agreed. This video helped me out a lot when I put these grips on, thanks. However, I too went back to the factory grips too. I really liked the comfort of these Hogue grips; they're thicker so fit better in my bigger hands, grippier and softer for recoil control but when I started carrying AIWB the grip would pull on my skin/hair and also print more. I switched to wad cutters which shoot much softer so recoil isn't bad when doing 20 rnds worth of range practice. Def won't be shooting 100 rnds out of this in one session, that's not the point of this lightweight carry anyway. Now it did lock up on me once had to send it back to S&W for repairs but has been fine since oh and the cylinder doesn't always rotate after closing but that's another topic.
THANK YOU!!! This was extremely helpful. I was able to do my installation and then help a buddy with his, a few days later, with zero issues! Really appreciate you, sir!
Very useful video. Just got this grip in today! 1st thing i looked at was the serial number u mentioned and thankfully i got it right. Small bits of information like this is extremely important. Thanks for the helpful video.
Awesome video!! After watching it only took me about 15 min to get to the end cap. I got it on as far as I could get it then I used a Rubber Mallet. A couple good taps and it was good to go.
took one of mom's friends shooting and she brought that gun. 2 shells of wad cutters and she was bleeding from the recoil. got that grip on order and will drop her back to 38 long colts. it's hell getting old.
Thank you for the instruction. However, I noticed after installation that the grip still moved a bit and then realized that the part shown in step 6 of the instructions needed to be inserted separately and placed as far into the grip as possible. I then placed the last part onto the end of the grip. Once I took it apart and then redid this step, the grip became stable on the gun.
Great job on the video. Unfortunately I didn't listen closely enough and ordered a Houge 60000 listed for a S&W J frame. Amazon doesn't show the one you installed so back to searching online. Thanks for the information! btw it's a model 60020 and your have it in the description as 60200. Thanks again.
I just did mine.. wow thank you so much. What a beautiful feel to the gun now.. now if I can get my hands on some extra 38 special lol I can try to shoot it and try for the first time.. much better
Thank u sir for your informative video imma follow your instructions step by step to install my Hogue grips for my MP Bodyguard ...when i receive them from Amazon ...
I’m installing this on an air weight 442. I can’t slide grip on with radial or any motion. Any suggestions? Should I remove what you removed on the body guard model? Thanks for any help you can progire
Barry Peterson just the “molar” comes out. The recess for the molar remains in the grip. But this doesn’t impede installation of the new grip. Hope this helps!
paul williams instead of the socket? The shell has a sharper edge and could damage the grip. The socket has a rounded edge with minimal risk of impression damage to the grip. Something to consider though and greatly appreciate the idea!!
I will stay with my factory grip. The reason I bought this revolver was because my little finger is not dangling off the end like it would be with this replacement grip
I have small hands, (and small feet, you know what that means, haha) with these new grips, my pinky does NOT dangle, at all. You should check them out, before making any judgements!
WDYM? This replacement grip makes it so your little finger does NOT dangle off the end. The stock grip is a two finger gripper with a dangling pinky setup.
It's been an hour, I'm sweating and giving up. The video is great, but no matter how I tried, I can't get it to fit snugly against the frame. Going to have to seek professional help...for the gun, I mean....at least for now.
@@quixoticmelancholic7141 I'm right there with you brother! Mine went exactly as yours, sweating and just about gave up, it was hard enough just getting the roll pin out of the original grip, even following the videos instruction and using correct tools. Then I could get the hogue grip to just about fit but it seemed "Stuck". I used the plastic from the packaging as guides, just as the video instructed. I too, was about to give up and take it to a reputable gun store, but would be embarrassed to have failed, and that a piece of rubber the size of my palm defeated me. So with one last gasp, with an hour's worth of frustration behind me, slowly reaching the anger stage, and literally all the strength I had, gave it one final push, and whaddya know, it slipped into place! With that finally done, I thought the end cap was going to be a pain in the ass as well, but someone posted a tip that helped greatly, and that is to use one AAA battery into the slot hole and force it down as far as it will insert, and the gap will open enough to slide it over the new rod pin. Don't give up, you can do this! And for the pros and more mechanically inclined who are laughing at this right now, who have posted that it took less than 5 minutes to install, well, good for you, you must live a charmed life, hahahaha.
I think those grips just look ridiculous they're oversized for this type of gun Smith and Wesson tested the gun with those gray grips on it and knew it would be perfect for this gun also with 38 + P ammo it also gives it a nice two-tone color how could you conceal this gun once you put heavy rubber grips on it like in the video this gun is made to put in your pocket as a backup gun I see a lot of police officers leave it the original way also you could put night sights on it it's made for the front sight to come off not like the other J frame guns out there like for instance the 642 order for for two there were one piece 👎
Really? I thought he made it super easy to follow! I'm glad I checked youtube before attempting, cause the enclosed instructions do spell it out, but make it look hard! I WAS gonna have someone else do it, but I thought I would look here first. Give it a try. What do you have to lose?

Hello Sir! Is there a way to open the revolver for cleaning and a trigger job?
I haven’t attempted to open the revolver yet. Perhaps a RUclips search for that may yield some results.
Thanks. I struggled a little more than you but got there nonetheless. Good video.
Appreciate the response and glad it worked out for you
Nice video - great comments!
Why a 9mm socket? Why not a roll of duct tape to help support the weapon better as you punch the pin out? 👍🏼
Do you know if this Hogue grip gets in the way when using a speed loader?
Thanks! It was a great help!
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful
5 43 man, that was a lot of work! Where’s the laser sight at, does it not work with the new grips? Think I’ll stick with my model 36
Haven’t explored the laser option. Guessing there’s a trigger mounted laser out there that could be added.
@@paracorddesigns9875 didn’t one come with it? I thought the M&P .38 Bodyguard came with one.
Not with this one. There is one that comes with the laser.
Can a laser be added to this particular configuration?
Sadly, not sure about that. Appreciate the question and possibly a new idea for another RUclips vid!!
Paracord Designs Thanks for the response

Does the Hogue grip catch on your pocket?
Thanks for the vid. Mine went on much easier than yours, wiggled right on, except removing the pin from the old grip.

I’m thinking you may have to remove the plastic pieces “molars” inside the grip. Since they’re not permanent, you can always reinstall them.
Thank you for the great video
Sandro Mad appreciate the comment! Glad it was helpful
where the molars are does the whole thing come out so it is smooth inside or is there still part of the molar piece still in the grip?

Looks like a nice grip ty
So, there is nothing to fill that big hole in the bottom of the grip?
You could go to Lowes or Menards. They have plastic hole covers for things like this.
@@403woak That's a great idea, thanks!

Can you list the tool sizes needed to install the grips
Bruce Wheatley I used a 3/32” roll pin punch, a 9mm shallow socket and a hammer. Also used some of the plastic from the grip package.
Hope this helps
Isn't recoil A bad thing?
Thanks alot
What is the part number ?? Most important
60020. I mentioned it in the video
What size tool do you need for the laser?
derekdefor not sure about that. This one doesn’t have a laser.
Wow, "4 hours later!" Think I'll leave mine stock!!! (Good video though).
