- Produced from the original 8mm cine film by Steve Fennell, a look at London Transports Red RF's towards the end of there working life
Fine archive material of these wonderful old RF's.😊😊
Yes!
Seeing this brought a lump to my throat, as a kid they plied the route between Barking and Ilford, and I still have a soft spot for them.
The RFs were magnificent buses.....a joy to watch, listen to and ride on. Sadly my local route at that time - 227 (Crystal Palace & Chislehurst Gordon Arms) - succumbed to SMS buses in the first week of January 1971. The replacement vehicles were 'interesting', too, but unfortunately for entirely different reasons.....
My RF route, too. Along with Green Line 72?5?4?.
Now reintroduced somewhat as SuperLoop SL3. A marvellous very well-used new service fro Bromley to East Croydon via Bethlem Royal Hospital.
Thank-you! They could/should have gone on for a thousand years!
Yes, unsuitable access, but.
I drove RF's (208) and RLH's (178) out of Dalston Bus Garage in the early 70's. You couldn't get on them full time as they were crewed by the old fella's 😂😂😂
The 250 along the Roding Valley past the water meadows. Memories. All destroyed and flattened under the M25 now.
Must have filmed these in the summer of 1976. Getting round all those routes with not one rainy day...?
The last bus my dad drove after many years on the buses. He hated one man buses.
I think as they came in most drivers did.

Changing £1 notes for 3p fares must have really been annoying
251 Route had these buses
Richmond bus station! Good God it’s still there 🎉the greedy bastards👺 haven’t built on it 😂
Is that the real RF engine noise?
Yes (RF136 was used for sound track)
