I think it should be more normalized to wear the same outfit in the exact same way multiple times. Every time I see stuff about outfit repeating, it's usually about re-wearing the same piece in a bunch of different ways. This is great, but I would personally love to see more exact outfit repeats.
that's true you're absolutely right! if you like an outfit you should wear it a million and one times if you want to! it's an obvious one but i literally didn't think to add it lmao
my thing with "timeless wardrobes" is that they're really...... basic. which is kind of the point, but it doesn't leave much room for individuality which is the most fun part of fashion. like, everyones timeless wardrobe is white tee shirt, blue jeans, leather jacket, denim jacket, a pair of smart pants, neutrals everywhere and i feel like that sanitizes fashion. i think a person's timeless wardrobe should be timeless to them, not timeless to everyone else. like, those pieces you know you're never gonna let go of and that service your lifestyle
i think that’s what’s so difficult, bc there’s gonna be styles and trends that we like now that we won’t really resonate with in a few months or even in a few years. i feel like with timeless pieces it could be more like if you’re a person who likes bright colors you’d opt for maybe a purple tee shirt versus a grey t-shirt if that makes sense
but i do see your point, and i very much agree. i believe at the end of the day it’s all subjective. we’re all individuals who have different ideas of what timeless is and how one would want to go about building their own “timeless” wardrobe
yes yes yes to the outfit repeating!! the really stylish people can make the same shirt work for 10, 20, 30 different looks. i'm really happy that people are starting to focus on slow and intentional shopping instead of mindless consumerism
exactamundo! i think it’s just hard with the turn over rate of trends now a days, things go out style so quickly and ik there a lot of people who’re still figuring out there style and want to part of trends! but we truly have to normalize rewearing clothes and even rewearing the same exact fit! if you like it who cares!
Yes, to capsule wardrobes but I think it's important for people to structure their capsule wardrobe around their sense of personal style and around the colors they naturally gravitate towards, and not buy a item of clothing just because it's regarded as capsule wardrobe basic.
i agree 100% i’ve noticed the colors that i gravitate towards are neutrals like browns, tans, and sometimes like a greenish brown (idk what the color is called) when shopping and how it really reflects my own personal style. while i do feel it’s important to get the basics like black, white and grey because they do come in handy it’s not the end all be all
My school is pretty boring when it comes to style and coming from New York I dress very differently from the other kids I’m trying to figure out my style after being in a decora phase 😶🌫️ when I did dress all colorful people would look at me and that gave me a lot of anxiety which is one of the reasons I stopped wearing so much color but color is fun and no matter what style at wear people are still gonna look so it’s best to stop caring 😂 (still not going back to decora fashion but I will still wear some color)
i’m pretty sure they were looking at you bc they loved you’re style and you were popping! but ik how anxious it can be standing out sometimes so i’m sorry to hear that made you stop wearing color for a while but im so glad you’re starting to get back into wearing more colors ! maybe one day you’ll step back into your decorative phase, who knows
So, I've lately started to declutter my closet. And OMG how many clothes I do have that I forgot existed. Like damn I was an impulsive buyer before. 😓But on the other hand I think that now at least I have a bigger choice I suppose. 😅Like for example I've found a lime green pair of ripped shorts & a Hilfiger silver windbreaker. Both of which I kinda have an idea how to use as lately my style had branched out into what I suppose is pretty much Japanese/Harajuku territory. Weirdly, I've found myself especially fond of tenshii kawaii/mizuiro. But I''m pretty sure some surfer style may have sneaked in too.
All the tips you mentioned are gold honestly. The outfit repeating one I had been using for quite some time in fact, after hearing it somewhere. And the waiting thing? Oh yes, so many times I should have done just that. But of course, my lil impatient ass just had to have the thing and then boom, it's cheaper. I think the biggest mistake like that I made was when I got a thing for my collection like 2 years ago. I thought "Oh, it's quite rare so 230 zł is an okay price for it." And what I did see 2 months later? The exact same thing for 170 zł. Oh, I was so angry at myself. (Side note, zł = złoty is my country's currency and I think it's like around 0,25$ = 1zł)
yes that is exactly what i found to be true too when i went through my closet late last year, a lot of things i found didn't really resonate with me or my evolving style. but im glad you were able to find some gems you had forgotten about and incorporate them into your style now!
im glad you liked the tips! these are the stuff that i learnt through my fashion journey and how it helps me stay creative and not stuck! but i do feel you on being impatient. a lot of times for me i like getting things immediately but finding that it's not something that i truly wanted later on and then it gathering dust in my closet to be forgotten about!
yess it's the absolute worst when you buy something and then you see later on it's cheaper than when you bought it! so that's where patience comes in even though its not easy!!
