Such staggering virtuosity. To reinterpret a classical piece of this magnitude in a metal idiom so successfully is an enormous challenge.

You know what, guys? This took some guts. It turned out really well. You could have mocked the concept, but you honored it and it worked. The best part is that it comes from a metal band. It adds more tension. We know you're all wound up inside. We know you're itching to pound out sound. But silence and stillness can be just as challenging as extreme noise and movement. When we see energetic people suppressing their energy, something even more interesting happens. It sounds funny to say it, but good work.

There's nothing to honor though. Cage is someone who had a point to make but did it in the wrong way, wasting everyone's time. Everything can be music, but not everything is music either.

I dunno.... I'll have to listen again, but usually I don't like performers taking this many liberties with a score.

This is brilliant. I show it to my first year undergraduates to introduce them to avant-garde creative sound practices. I love the way the band tune up first - they really get it.

I usually prefer when played in front of a live audience, there is just something that sharpens the senses when preforming at a stage rather than a studio, but this is a masterful rendition
The pause between movements really sets the tone for the whole piece.

there were NO bad notes, ok? I have a degree from Berklee, I would have caught any mistakes. anyway classical pieces have to be interpreted to stay vital and alive for modern audiences so it's important to take liberties.

begins 1:04 ends 5:37, I wonder what they are listening to in the earbuds. They all bob their heads in unison and the guitarists adjust amp volume/FX pedals are certain points. Maybe it's one of their songs.
