I have enjoyed this series. Keep up the good work! I at the moment have 5 airframes capable of 100 mph + but still keeping them fun and flyable. I understand to take it to the next level like you have, requires a bunch more work and money especially when modifying aircraft not designed to go as fast as we plan to push them. An example being my full size Strix Goblin easily does 150 mph with the right motor/prop combination but to go 200 mph requires a bunch of work on an already very fast airframe. The Dolphin is a neat project keep the videos coming!
Cheers buddy, It has definitely been a challenge for sure and a lot of trial and error but I will keep going with this project until I reach the magical 200mph mark. The airframe is definitely only for speed runs as the endurance is massively reduced with the over powered motor setup. The version 2 dolphin had the best of both worlds as it could cruise on 10 amp but the v3 is a battery eater. I haven’t owned a Strix Gobin but I hear a lot of good things about them. 150mph is still a super fast plane and covers a lot of ground very quickly. Thanks for the comment and following along, much appreciated….Rotorflex👍👍
Flip me this is class! Just discovered your channel, another FPVer from Northern Ireland! How’s it going? I’ve just got myself into wings too after doing quad long range. We managed to hit the O3 range limit a few weeks back on a quad and so have got into wings to try and go further!
@@bentoogood cheers buddy. Yes not to many of us in NI who fly. Fpv wings are fantastic and great for those long range missions. I have had good results with the lumenier AX2 hd antennas on the goggles and standard antenna on the air unit. Love your videos by the way so it’s a privilege to have you onboard the channel buddy. Cheers….Rotorflex👍👍
@torquedude search ham file hack dji 03, there's tons of videos but basically u put a file on a sd card and put it in the goggles and 03 i think, and it raises the output power on the 03 for more range
Hello! Really nice video, I always enjoy fast planes! My only problem with this plane is that the material that it's made is very fragile and need a lot of modifications. I used to have a Funjet ultra about 10 years ago or more but I had to fiberglass it first etc etc. The Dolphin's ailerons and platform is way more fragile than a Funjet's and even thought I have a great setup for it, i don't know if there is a point to make it fast like this cause of the excessive amount of work that needs to be done.
Hey illuminatorix, I use to have a Funjet years ago and what a great plane it was. I totally agree regarding the amount of work to mod this airframe. My only reason for pushing the airframe so far was for the friendly competition between my RUclips channel and another. A motor and esc change is plenty to get it to 130, I was definitely happy with that and would have flew it most outings. The version 3 airframe definitely isn’t a relaxing airframe to fly. Me personally I prefer fpv wings as they are a good all rounder to fly as an everyday plane. Thanks for the comment…..Rotorflex👍
@@torquedude Hi! I know about the competition with Jeff, hehehe it's really funny!!! I follow him too and he really helped me with his settings! We all need an all day plane and a really fast one :P I enjoy watching your videos too!!! Thank you!!!!!
How much drag do the antennas make? I taped my receiver antennas to the stabilizers leading edges and use a menacerc aeropod for the vtx antenna. Practically no antenna drag, at least I imagine
Buzzmas8068, great idea, why didn’t I think of that. I will do the antenna mod as it will definitely reduce drag at high speed. Thank you for following along and help support the challenge with your good ideas! Thanks again and your help is much appreciated buddy…..Rotorflex👍👍
Great question buddy, initially I didn’t intend to push the dolphin airframe as far as I did. My original 6s build topped out around 130 but it soon got a lot of interest on RUclips. Before I knew it I was caught up in some friendly competition with another RUclipsr to see who could go the fastest and it has spiralled from that point on. It’s certainly a challenge but a fun one for sure. Thanks for the comment…..Rotorflex👍
@@EnglishTurbines yes this weekend will consist of prop testing at the field. I have removed every possible item creating drag so it’s just the main body left. I am keeping the fingers crossed that the correct prop combo does the trick to reach 200mph. If I upload over the weekend you will know I have done it. Cheers for the comment…..Rotorflex👍

I can do 160 level... 60amp 6s, 2410 1750kv (protype) with a 6x6... Got a bad ass 2315 1450kv that will go with a 5x7.5 or a 5.25x8 if i can get my hands on one.
@@breckfreeride yes buddy! If you are struggling to get a heavy pitch prop in the smaller diameter you can make your own by cutting it down. My V4 dolphin will be using a cut prop and will demonstrate how to a cut prop to perfection in the next video so stay tuned….Rotorflex👍
Going cautious first flight... 5.5x6.5 only drew 32 amp static so I think I have some room to grow. Should be good for 160mph at least! 5.5x7 for second flight if I'm good on amps, if not I'll step up to 17 or 1800kv and 50-60 amp motor.

bro! fly in a straight line if you want to speed run. you are going illegally high and going straight down lmao thats not speed thats falling lol

замер максимальной скорости производится в горизонтальном полете, а не на за счет пикирования! поэтому 200 mph это обман!
no no no speed runs have to be flat and level runs mine is 137mph 6s flat and level runs
You can make yours go faster then that
I’ve clocked my V1200 at 188mph with apc 10x10e sport prop
