Crazy timing on this! I just got back from Fremont today from doing a job interview with a company in the same building as the guys at Annex Suspension! Crazy small world!
Everyone has done crazy set ups on the Celica including the suspension. My set up has the front s13 coils, q45 dual pistons calipers with t3 LCA to accommodate it. I'm happy to see that the Celica has its recognition.
Finally, I started watching this channel on the very first episode of this built. this is The reason why I started following you guys. She’s back home.
That is probably the best intro to ever be intro'd. That seamless HelloFresh promo😮👌🏼 Love to see another Connie video finally out! It would be awesome to see some more classic on here aye. Old RX-7's, Z cars, MR2's and whatever else is about😂 haha
Really excited for this build. I feel that you 2 are always doing builds properly and not for the clicks. I hope more people are able to see the quality of your builds and videos.
So good to see you back on this build (can totally understand being daunted by it though!) Pleeeeease when she's finished, do a meet up with Sarah-n-tuned and hers, for a comparison/mutual road test/DP TMP lap time sesh! Can't think of a better pairing. Same cars, built to same exacting perfection, but different resto-mod directions!
By far the coolest build on the show. The Porsche rear quarters in view while you’re discussing the Celica parts on the floor are probably the sexiest profile on a car ever made, it’s literally pornographic. 😅
That engine has a shockingly deep and hauntingly soulful sound to its exhaust. Sounds great and looks good too. Ooh, the sneaky S15 in the background shot. I love that car. Easily one of my favorite classic Nissan models that we didn't get in the US. The Japanese auto market really just kept cranking out classic after classic design in the 90's and early 2000's. NSX, 300ZX, S15, S2000, Miata, RX-7 FC/FD, R33/34 GTR, 3000GT, Supra Mk.4, Celica GT-4, Beat, Cappuccino, AZ-1... the list just keeps going. So many excellent cars from that time period. And this Celica is part of what kick-started JDM sports cars and made them popular in foreign markets. Lovely stuff.
Thanks for getting us caught up on this car's build history. I was born in 1977, and I've always wanted a classic japanese car from 1977 to do a resto-mod on. Well done 👍
Oh my god. I thought for sure you had a full thick set of lovely locks under that hat. I will be in stock for the rest of this weekend. Love the build. Paint looks great. I am looking forward to this getting put back together.
Sorry I pronounced the name of your company wrong! I'm old and senile! I'm sleep deprived! I'm a simple man!!! I'll get it right when we install your parts though, I promise 😄
@@speedacademydave No worries Dave, several guys still found us after watching the video. Thanks again for the plug and I’ll get cracking on your next order once I get caught up next month. 🙌
It would be totally fine with me if you guys take some time with this car. I'd love to see it on screen for more than just a few episodes. It is a car worthy of extra time and effort.
Mate, who cares how long it takes. Just do it right and enjoy the quality. Just commented a week or so ago that I lived seeing it in the background, but wanted to see it more, just got my wish, thank you so much.
I honestly think the 28 days mark is on par.. It definitely can be done quicker but between filming and the caution you will take not to scratch/paint and body work you'll have added time.
24 working days and Connie the RA24 Celica will be ready to go - not done, as they never really are, but back on the road. So excited for this project and for Dave to live the retro Toyota dream. I've been wanting to do a 1st gen Celica project for so long, and when Connie came up on Speed Academy all those years ago it was like a sign that this is the way. Looking forward to seeing every aspect of the build. Also hoping to see what Annex ends up offering in the retail space for other 1st gen Celicas.
So glad to see connie is back and lookin more fine than I imagined! Here’s to hoping the 15 day estimate is accurate and that things come together as smoothly as they can!
Main thing is to do it right, show us how ideally a treasured car can be brought up to modern times. So pumped for watching & sharing this as method for my own future dream build
I freaking love this car and build. It's up there with bad obsession's mini. Ill be here in 6 months for the update video 😅 but seriously how can you possibly love the flexxus and the other chassis when Connie is right there! ❤
What a time capsule the intro was! Proud to say I’ve been along since the start. Thank you for all of the tremendous content! I can’t recommend this channel enough
Finally getting around to watching the new episodes of this series. Love the 1g in the process of getting mine on the road. Actually your dash repair video is what made me realize I think I like this car more than any car I have so making the switch, selling off to eventually have this as my car. 4cyl, less gas, can hit the cars limits easier than a inline 6 & more efficient. Reily of backyard built went down to a 4cyl, Panic went down to a 4cyl & I love my Chevy Aveo's 4cyl so naturally if I want to have everything all in one car the 1g Celica is a better wrapper for me than a ae86. I also kind of like the 4lug setup. Only 4 of things instead of 6 of things to have to buy, repair and do the work on.
For those of us that have been waiting years with you for this, if you guys decided to milk the heck out of this build for the next few months you go right ahead, I’m in god damnit
Sarah'N Tuned is doing it with out big sponsors and lot of stuff for free. But most of all is she is the only one working on it (most of the time) full-time, with her own money from the channel.
Love how optimistic DP is. I’m in the process of my k swap Miata. Planned 1 week to fire up and 2 weeks to bolt everything back up. Now I’m shy over 2 weeks, engine just started up yesterday and the car has no interior yet. Lol. 😂
You're definitely getting older "I want it to be more a street car than a racecar..." IBit I'm glad as many of viewers here of finally seeing the Celica again.

It’s been 84 years.gif 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I am so absolutely pumped for this build. Classic toyotas are what i grew up in and learned how to drive in. Always hold a place in my heart!
First, I miss Moose.
Second, thank you for turning us onto Industry Garage/Street Bandito.
Dave you are truly a gem. Thanks for being you.
You might even finish it before Binky 😅
@@SideshowBen206 haha gunna try! 😂
This will be apart and back together in no time. Cars don’t get any easier to work on than this.
Connie is BACK!😃
I've waiting years for this guys, and finally it's here! The hype is off the charts with this one, come on!
Sarah n tuned is doing a v8 one ... check it out
@@martynrollinson Yeah I know, I follow her channel since the beginning of the restoration of the MR2 Turbo. Great content too, she works her ass off.
Would be amazing if that OG shift knob made it into the build! Thanks for the shout! 🤙🏽
VERY EXCITED TO SEE THIS BUILD ON THE CHANNEL AGAIN!
OffDaMarket is a good friend of mine. His work is second to none! Everything he puts out is beautiful! ❤
Hey Brian! Hope to see you next month at the event so we can catch up! 🙌
@@OFFDAMRKT- I'm hoping I can make it! I'm unusually busy this year, not that that's a bad thing!
That intro made me realise how long this build has been going on for. Let's get her finished boys
Been a minute, for sure
So Good to see the Celica (not Selica) back. This was the first build I watched you do with Moose, great memories, and will be great to see complete!!
Grant from Annex was really good on camera - nice to see so much attention paid to the suspension package.
So refreshing seeing Ken wagon again in the build recap
One of the sickest cars on the channel imo

Here for every minute of this. Connie looks beautiful
good to see Connie back on the channel
When I was a kid, my dad had one of these. I believe it was mustard yellow. Cool little car.
2023 is the year of old Toyotas making a comeback
Finally, I started watching this channel on the very first episode of this built. this is The reason why I started following you guys. She’s back home.
Yassss! I've been eagerly awaiting updates on Connie!

Yes! Conny is back! So pumped for this
Between this and the s15.. such good looking cars that never age.
Shoutout Annex Suspension, use them on my 86 racecar
This brings back OG speed Academy vibes 😂😂😂.... 45 days depending on how often DP goes to the zoo.
That charcoal Pontiac Grand Prix in the background looks pretty cool!
By far the coolest build on the show. The Porsche rear quarters in view while you’re discussing the Celica parts on the floor are probably the sexiest profile on a car ever made, it’s literally pornographic. 😅
Yeeeeesssssss. I know this is a pet project, but seriously Dave, my favorite build on the channel!

Yes!!!! I watched the old episodes when I was in the NICU with my daughter, glad to see this come to fruition.
finally! what all we've waiting for ! best build in the channel along w/ the FLexus !
Oh my god. I thought for sure you had a full thick set of lovely locks under that hat. I will be in stock for the rest of this weekend.
Love the build. Paint looks great. I am looking forward to this getting put back together.
Those trombones! Perfectly timed bit :)
So good to see Connie back in the shop, have been following her since the first day , well maybe since the first aired episode at least
Great to have this one back. The montage with all the friends along the way was good 👍
THIS is the build that i've been waiting for since they did the preview for 2023! 😍
Connie AND maybe Porsche content, do we have a potential battle of epic proportions?
holy shit this is a cool project, and holy shit that engine sounds so good.
So much yes!!! I say it should be ready by mid June 😂
😂 you're probably not far off
The engine sound is amazing!!!! Killer work on Connie guys! Can’t wait see her in person! You guys too. 😂 🙌👍

Glad to see it back. This car is going to be much more than I ever could have imagined.
Yes!
Connie Celica, forever 28 days! 'Cuz 30 sucks.
Excited to see this come together finally.
I loved my gen 6 GT Celica, Connie is next level cool.
Those valvoline containers are great

42 days. For no particular reason but this is a pretty extensive overhaul. It is beautiful already so I'm looking forward to the series.

Amazing, so glad to see this much love and attention to detail for any build but for a 1st Gen Celica is personal for me
So excited to see this build back on the channel. Beautiful car and sounds great!
I love the Celica! (Almost) Every iteration has been a work of beauty. Excited for this series. Hopefully we'll see an ST-205 in the future?
Yo so excited to see Connie again. 28 days is not enough!!! Do her right guys. Love it love to see this build.
Excited to watch this build. Sarah’n Tune is doing a similar build. Excited to watch both.

Have been so excited waiting for more 1st gen content. Motivating me to get back onto both of mine, thanks DP!!
get to work, slacker! 😆
I'm extremely excited for this, I love the old Japanese cars that look like old school muscle cars!
I absolutely love this car.
This car is LOOOOONG over due to be finished. And Ken needs to have another cameo
Interested in Annex. They seem to know their stuff and going above an beyond.
This is your best build by far! I love it, great job team
One of my favourite Speed Academy projects. Glad to see it again!
Missed Connie so much, and still miss Ken. We need more Ken and Connie
Well, Sarah is stuffing a v8 in hers but this is also interesting. I'm a fan of the 3gste
It's been a haul but excited for Dave to finish this vintage hunk and start enjoying it!
Love this build, my first car as a kid was a used 77 Celica.
A classic toyota!! Instant like and enjoy the video
That is the coolest car in the world. I am so excited to watch you lucky guys put this project together.

man i wish cars still was designed like this, looks so good.
That intro with the parts list hit me in the feels.
My intro would sound like "on todays episode... PLUGS!"
