    When you climb onto the footplate and feel the heat of the fire...I had a footplate ride last year at the Avon Valley railway, Bitton, a great experience. Vern

    Hard to believe that 9351 used to be the same class of engine as 4160. Nice and warm on the footplate Mike? Nice one....Tim.

    @TriflingCircle Nor me. Lets not forget the driver had to be a fireman first of all, before he could later be in charge of the locomotive.

    Enjoyed footplate scenes. Would not have wanted the heavy work of fireman.
