When You Marry People For The New Stuff in Stardew Valley

- There are so many new things to see in the new 1.4 update that it's hard to find it all. Getting married seems to have some benefits currently as there are new events for the spouses at 14 hearts and sometimes that means new items. After marrying Emily I got a mostly useless outfit but the boots are actually better than the ones I was wearing already. After I get what I need from here I promptly divorce her and marry her sister. Emily does not attend that wedding. We also look at the new desert merchant, the dinosaur floor, rice crop and tea leaves. It's a lot of fun seeing what this update has to offer. Stardew Valley 1.4 gameplay with my commentary as always!

DF, you were SUPER CLOSE with the purple shorts, but because it's already *cough* clothing you put it into the cloth slot (this works with some other clothing, like boots which you can change the appearance but keep their stats). Add a gold bar to it and you can WEAR THEM.
Test out all of the old interactions with your wearable purple shorts + the new ones (such as wearing them and harrassing the Mayor and Marnie).
Ooh, this should be a whole video.

you can buy tea bushes from the trader lady on Friday and sunday sometimes, and it only bears leaves on the last week of each month

When I put a prismatic shard into the sewing machine, and got a prismatic dress top, basically a colorful rainbow vest with a white shirt underneath
For all who are curious about the tea... With 2 wild seeds, 5 fiber, and 5 wood you can make a tea tree sapling. You get the recipe for it after the event with Caroline. Then you would toss the leaves into the keg like coffee. Green Tea's base sell price is 100g, it gives you +30 energy and takes 3 hrs to make. :)

I wasn't sure what I was more excited about when 1.4 came out, the update, or knowing I was going to get more DF Stardew videos. I jumped back into the game when the news about the update broke, and watched all of the completionist farm series while playing, something about that sweet, sweet sarcasm just makes the grind towards 100% that much easier.

I just realized that first year strawberries can be even better. If you get them planted on speed grow on the night of the 13th, you cut out one day of growing and can get three harvests for some extra profit. Not much since it effectively doubles your seed price, but...
Even though you can't sell cauliflower in time to buy strawberries with the proceeds, there is just enough time after the event to run one to the Community Center and complete the Spring Crops Bundle for 20 free speed grow and then back to your farm to quickly plant those 20 strawberries. You can wait until the next morning to do the rest and not miss out on anything your first year.
2400 extra gold OR 20+ extra strawberries to save for seed making without eating into your regular profit.
