yeah - it’s a shame that pontaff has no idea how to write the character. it’s a farcry from the bastardisation that was boom shadow, but the constant jeering and overly angsty behaviour is a bit upsetting
Autistic Hades shadow’s always been the superior combatant, but it was never particularly a problem between them. either way, the ‘rivalry’ they’re trying to force with them feels unnatural at best as a result
@@hihi-nm3uy No he hasn't always been the superior combatant, in SA2, he only believed that he was more powerful, until he started to gain some sort of respect for Sonic when he tapped into Chaos Control with a fake emerald, in which Shadow was more egar to know who he was, asking his name. They both thought together to defeat the Biolizard, in which Shadow used all the power he could to finish off the ultimate life form prototype, leading to his death in SA2, which shows that even if he has all that power, he can be harmed by it too. in Heroes, he forgot quite a bit of his memory, but his rivally with Sonic was more equal, he just said 'it's that hedgehog'(which is a bit ironic if you think about it) and just throwing cheesy lines at each other before going into fight, neither of them canonically winning. In 06, Shadow unleashed his power by taking off the rings, but he wasn't super, so it wasn't too much for him to bare, and he didn't dare use them for the final fight against solaris. Just because he has a strong attack doesn't make him superior, there's a good reason he mostly keeps them on in the games.

he actually has 27 unused facial expressions available. according to the developers they cut them because of upper management being uncomfortable with sonic not being a cardboard cutout of his former self
@Charon the Toaster I was making reference to when sega had archie redo scenes that depicted sonic crying or being sad in the archie comic books. the remade scenes are in the compilation books and they are notorious for the censorship from sega. the 27 unused facial expressions on the other hand I actually dont know why they were cut. I was just pointing out earlier upper management censorship because it reminded me of it
Guess they would've felt really forced to fit in the short levels, which, again, are short because SEGA had to rush the game instead of actually putting some effort into it. Sad how much potential this game had. It would really deserve a remake, but one that fixes the story, level design and everything. _Doubt we're getting that anytime soon though._
"Of course I'm me, just like how you're you" Damn. Pretty harsh if you consider Shadow's history. Wish Episode Shadow would've had more mind game shit like this.
I'm willing to bet that one of, if not the main reason they cut most of these lines was because they realized the levels were too short to fit them in.
....all of this just makes me dislike Forces even more than I already do. The amount of good lines and epic lines in this entire video (like Metal Sonic's battle) were way too good to be rid of. This is too much potential being thrown in the trash even more.
MLPMVGuy can we just be more forgiving to SEGA? You do know they are trying to please the WHOLE fandom right? Like the reason Classic is here is just for the Classic fans and the custom hero is for the fans that loved making oc's (which is like most of the fandom.)
@@BendyCrates Which is the freaking problem. They try to please everyone and in turn they lose any sense of focus and please no one. Here's a corker: make a good game, and people will buy it.
@@BendyCrates They've been trying this for too long, and it almost never worked. The only best thing to do with Sonic is to just pick a gameplay style for him (Like Adventure or Boost) that's widely beloved, then stick with it. And when the Adventure purists or Classic purists start complaining about it, then SEGA has to suck it up and say "This is what Sonic is now. If you don't like it, then this is not the game for you." Sure they might lose fractions of the fanbase, but at least it's better than having everybody get mad just because this one gameplay style simply exists or constantly hearing "THIS ISN'T WHAT I WANTED BRING BACK THE CLASSICS REEEEEE"
I mean, they literally already reference shadow the hedgehog 3 times over in the dlc. it would make sence if he was supposed to rush through a part of the level with chaos control(plus, shadow the hesgehog quote "behold the ultimate power!" and one unused quote here is very similar, so)
There's a mod to give him a headset but it's on all the time if you use it, not dependent on the in-level dialogue. Still, I like it because like you've said it makes more sense with it. It shouldn't have had to be a mod though.
I'm as much of a fanboy for Forces as fanboys can get, and even I'm pretty disappointed most of these weren't used... they would have really made a lot of the inconsistencies make much more sense and seem intentional, particularly the Phantom Ruby-Dimensional Rift thing and Metal Sonic's increased size.
Combine these unused lines to be put into the Reimagined Mod of this game, and it’s 75% good. Only thing that has to be fixed is re-balance the story, and go back to the Sonic Generations Classic Sonic Gameplay, and everything will be perfect again.
8:06 Last time Silver traveled to a "different" dimension... Silver: Those are Grizbots! They're being mass-produced now? Blaze: Oh, God. This ain't good... Might be too much for True to handle... I feel as if it would be better if infinite said "but are you really you?" instead. it would have been a cool reference to his identitycrisis after sa2 and it is a better cue for shadow to notice "yeah no, this shit is wrong" since he knows that she knows that that phase in his life is over.

6:00 That line right there tells us that eggmna actually did make the Ruby. It was so confusing how he kept acting like he made because originally the Ruby came from Mania. But that line is glorifying
after analysing the real ruby(happened one day before stage2 of episode shadow), he created a copy that infinite uses. that is also where the prototypes come from. in the finalboss fight, the trio destroys the real ruby from mania. when it comes to why he acts as if he created the real one, that is more complicated. I do not even know all details because it makes no sence. the development of sonicgames is always conpletely insane
Wow! There were a lot of cool unused voicelines in the game, wish these were in the original game. Though the only ones I would question were the last ones you showcased in the conversation between rouge and shadow. Was it originally planned to have shadow fall for an illusion because I mean he sounded extremely confused and even I was confused when I first listened to those lines not gonna lie.
Just a few dialogues on Stages already made this game's story a lot better and enjoyable, I actually liked it like this a lot, made me like Forces' story a lot more
This actually somewhat pisses me off. As someone who aspires to become a game developer, I see a lot of things that could have caused these lines to be removed. This makes my disappointment towards Forces all the more prevalent. One reason being that originally the stages were going to be MUCH longer to space out the dialogue but time constraints prevented that. So in order to "cover their tracks" they left these lines unused in the game. Either that or the levels were purposely made to be stupid short and they realized that there were too many lines, and so to compensate for that, they removed the extra dialogue. Either way, they KNEW the levels were too short and yet they STILL went through with it. Secondly, a lot of these lines contained missing context (examples: Eggman's line at 6:00, the missing lines in both Metropolis stages + Null Space, and the cut lines from Imperial Tower and Final Judgement) or deeper humanization of the side characters, which is huge disappointment and missed opportunity. Espio, Knuckles, Amy, and Tails (I might have missed a character) all had lines that deepened the character interactions and made you give a shit about the resistance for once. Again, quite a shame these never made the final cut. If the other two were not enough, the cut Episode Shadow lines scream missed potential. Maybe the Shadow DLC lines were cut due to ESRB/PEGI ratings board complains/concerns. This is especially strange since they got away with "Eating your Black hearts" in Lost World and the writing team was the same in Forces, though I would not put it past upper management to call for this change so they could get the lowest ESRB/PEGI rating to maximize sales. Shame though, these lines added a lot to the Shadow levels. While I still believe Forces get too much undeserved hate and is a "decent/good" Sonic Game (not great or amazing like Unleashed, Colors, Generations, SA 1&2 but still good/decent), this new discovery along with the false advertising in the trailers (promised/hyped up rematches against Chaos, Shadow, and others that were not delivered), short play time and stage design, a blatant copy-pasta final boss, and lack luster story are all hard to ignore. This game needed more time to bake or less time toying around with a new engine.

Okay, but the writing is horrible.
@@hihi-nm3uy Yeah, we know very well that Sonic and Shadow are equal in terms of power. They are both ultimate life forms, just created differently.

shadow’s always been the superior combatant, but it was never particularly a problem between them.
either way, the ‘rivalry’ they’re trying to force with them feels unnatural at best as a result

You know you might have a point. At least we have an option to turn in level dialogue off.
This is different, every dialogue was unique while the Time Eater dialogue was a certain phrase said by every character just mixed up. And since these levels aren't repeated story wise there is no need for unique dialogue for every character.

The only best thing to do with Sonic is to just pick a gameplay style for him (Like Adventure or Boost) that's widely beloved, then stick with it. the writing actually really shines with the dialogue added back in, i wish they never removed it in the first place.
the episode shadow dialouge was so freakin menacing I loved it
"one of my favorite spots is ruined!"
"these sandfalls are amazing"
wow, nice
