Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world The heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings But the heart has its seasons, its evenings, and songs of its own - keep the fire burning Holly
Ever loving Mother of Mercy. As a self professed Louisville '74 geek I am totally blown away by this. My only regret is I wish she could just keep going into that brilliant version of China Doll
I was slow to finding Greensky Bluegrass. I’m dialed in now and thru the wormhole, I found my way here. Holly, you brought me to tears with this rendition. Hope to see you live one day.
Wife and I traveling to Denver next month. Catching a concert at Red Rocks. Will be my first concert at Red Rocks. Greensky Bluegrass is performing that night. Never heard of them until a month ago. Started to listen to them and they are AMAZING. Heard this song and Holly was playing piano. She is incredible and now I am following her. Just found out she is going to be there performing with them for the show. We are so incredibly excited to see her and Greensky. What a thrill and cannot wait.
made me cry too, and I dont know why...it just encapsulates all of my life experiences into one song at one point in time played by one beautiful person...Holly will you marry me???
scrolled through facebook while listening to this and it dawned on me yet again how many things that suck gain popularity these days, while true talent is all too often overlooked. A trite thought, I grant, but still worth mentioning every now and then. I'm not scoffing at 50,800 views, but it really should be 5,080,000 at least!!
“Through our eyes, the universe is perceiving itself. Through our ears, the universe is listening to its harmonies. We are the witnesses through which the universe becomes conscious of its glory, of its magnificence.” ― Alan W. Watts
Both parts of this are absolutely brilliant and beautiful. The dynamic (soft to loud) arrangement of the main song structure is very thoughtful, creative, and emotive. Then the transcription of the complex multipart jam in the second half is just insanity. Like a lot of heads I know the Louisville Eyes by heart and the wit and artistry of this interpretation made me laugh out loud a couple of times in admiration. Excellent!
So many great versions of this song. This one definitely counts as one of the masterpieces. The beginning is special because it gives us more variation and the end because it strips the outro down to the core elements of one of the best instrumentals the dead ever played. I've heard that version hundreds of times and it is spot on here. I would play this for a friend who is new to the dead. This is Phil... this is Jerry. If you don't love this, then you are not ever going to love the Dead.
Another cool thing about this is she never takes the middle instrumentals where others have made their mark. No intro either, and still she finds so much beauty in the verses and the outro. All the best eyes are strange and this is the most unusual yet. Off to look for more Holly Bowling...
this has been my favorite version,of my fave song since my big brother got a sbd copy on cassette in 1974, soon after the show.I considered it a masterpiece.you can hear what the whole band is doing individually, and wholly.it has helped me through those tough times......I would listen to it ,it was medicinall to me.I love what you did to and for this special version of EYES......I truly thank you, .jr2
I came across this today by accident, a wonderful accident! Holly this song brings tears to my eyes overtime I hear it and your version is no different in that regard. I attribute this song,' and my eldest daughter holding my hand while we listened to it, help with my healing from a TBI. This is the song we danced to at her wedding. Thank You!
This is so beautiful & touching... I'm literally tearing up listening in my headphones. This interpretation reimagined is stunning. I can hear Phil, Bobby, & Jerry coming through your fingertips & into my ears and soul. Kudos Holly, one of the best Songs of Our Own. Loving it!!!
It started raining up here in CT. about two minutes into this and I believe it was spirit of a man I miss so much. He Helped me wipe Tears from my Eyes and I his. Thank you Peace and much Love Holly
My goodness. Phil with her left hand, Jerry with her right.
Was thinking the same thing. Incredible!
Been a deadhead since '71, all I can say is OMG!!!!!
Stunning
I think Jerry would be smiling at this interpretation. I'm smiling and tearing up at the same time. My favorite Dead song.
Jerry smiled when he heard, no one ever laves us completely
Was there anything better on planet earth than a ‘74 Eyes?
I have no words. None. ❤️❤️❤️
She captures the mystic sense of wonder beautifully
sometimes the songs that we here bring tears to our eyes
Maureen Hollis just goddamn beautiful
Grateful Dead enters the realm of classical music.
Crazy hearing "jam" music without any jamming. I don't hate it lol
LOVE !!!

Damn that was some Jazz. It was like McCoy Tyner walked in at around 7:30. This gal is immensely talented!
Also, Jazz IS Dead
@@synchronicity492 I know, right? . Finally I found people who recognize that Dead free style riffs are jazz.
She is amazing.
Crying. Thank you. Speechless.
The Phil bass solo on the LEFT hand -- that's not easy. So cool.
RocksAndMoss
if it was easy everyone would do it & it wouldn't be special anymore.
