I was at UNC in the early 1970s and remember this absolutely rocking song playing at maximum volume on the DKE fraternity house juke box. The juke box was belting it out, people were screaming and all I could think about was being 20 years old, really being alive and having a great time. This song brings back some of the best memories of my entire life. Where has all that time gone? Those really were great days.

It's 10.30pm Tuesday night 12/03/2024 and I've just flicked the T.V. over to Ch 9 in Sydney.
They were showing The Raspberries "Go all the Way"
I thought "Why are they playing that?" "Is Eric touring soon?"
Then I thought "Oh no he hasn't died" "Has he?"
My fears were confirmed by the news voice over person.
    "Eric Carmen was 74"
    Now I can't stop crying.
Not only did Eric help create one of the greatest, mind blowing Guitar riffs in Rock history, he then composed some of the most tasteful Ballads of all time.
Good quality Ballads are extremely hard to write.
Thanks for the great music and the brilliant singing voice Eric.
Eric lived a successful existence and died peacefully in his sleep.
    "Come on Baby!!!"
    RIP - Eric Carmen
    Always in my heart

I remember the first time I heard this on the radio, I heard the heavy power chord intro, and because it was 72, I expected some Robert Plant or Ozzy type scream vocal to follow, but then I heard that unreal voice of Eric Carmen, half Beatles half Beach Boys, and I was totally mesmerized, suddenly 1972 felt very much like 1964 again, and I bought all their singles and albums, listened to them way more than Zeppelin, and though they they broke up before I got to see them, I can still see them live on RUclips, so rest in peace Eric, your music lives with us....

WHAT A masterPIECE OF COMPOSITION AND PERFORMANCE THIS WAS. tHIS IS most likely THE MOST perfect POP SONG EVER WRITTEN. There are no hook gimmicks, no overtired tricks. This is a whole new structure of music.. Musicians MUST appreciate the intro.. the extended single note first line and the "please all the way.." hook. with the modulated "please" The most musical band in history (The Beatles) never got close to this.

Eric Carmen's education in music enabled him to write songs..and maybe some of its sounds emulated others in the era, but his own style and voice are distinct in his own great writing. Every top artist did it and added their own touch. ...and made money! It is part of what enables us to identify the sounds of an era or artist. Don't forget Badfinger had music (one song in particular) written by Paul McCartney and they worked with McCartney at his studios.

Loved this song from the beginning,...but it always gave me a tinge of sadness for them.....knowing that they started out with one of the Greatest Epic Rock/Pop songs ever,....and how do you ever top that?

I love how Eric Carmen points out the stupidity of the critics with his sarcastic remark " clean, fresh songs like Go All the Way."

Cleveland Ohio... wow, what was in the water there?!
Crazy wild rock town. Sadly, the American music
renaissance is over. Just be thankful that it happened...
