    I love flair. I think what you’re looking for with comfort is trying to say they are so light and not there it feels like they will move and shift and be crooked even though that might just be a feeling.
    Still love them and are very curious about a pair.
    Undostrail I absolutely love also. They are heavier than flair but feel more assured like they won’t move. Definitely love them.
    So many great glasses they are addictive. Seriously Reykjavík eyes has been one of the best brands I have had so far. They are solid on the face. Light. Built amazing.

    As usual thanks for the video Rob. Not sure I agree with your scores this time though, to be honest. I feel like Undostrial were overrated and Walter & Herbert perhaps treated a bit harshly. My main problem with Undostrial is the 6 for styling which is the same as Barton Perreira, it would be a 3 tops for me. Obviously that's my subjective opinion, but I do feel that a brand that's as one-dimensional as Undostrial in terms of their designs shouldn't be in the same league as a brand that does both titanium and acetate and offers a CHOICE of different styles. Compare the variety in the BP collection, RLR as well, and in comparison Undostrial frames all look the same. I get the "stylish in its own way" argument but I would place a lot more emphasis on "stylish in many different ways".
    There's also a mistake at the end where Flair is actually 38/50 which is a 7.6 but you've got them down as a 7.4. Just in case there are any fans out there not wanting them to slide down the table 😂

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Год назад

      Thanks for the correction! 7.4 sounds better to me as well.
      Style is obviously subjective, and I think personally the springe series is the most stylish ultra-minimalistic collection I've seen - more so than Mykita, IC Berlin, Lindberg, Reykjavik Eyes IMO. I just love the exposed spring as a design element, and the pure metal temples.
      Some pieces from BP are more stylish, but some are less I think.
      On a different day I could see Undostrial scoring one mark lower for style, originality and craftsmanship, but I stand by the comfort and durability scores.
      I'd be curious which of the individual scores you think I marked W&H low on? Because I would have also expected them to be higher but I wouldn't change my scores.
      Over time, this will all be compiled on a page on our website and I will tweak the scores for accuracy.
      PS. Your Bartons were completed today and look superb!

    • @raymondding5746
      @raymondding5746 Год назад

      @@thespectaclefactory Thanks for the detailed reply. I deliberately didn't go into more detail on W&H in my original comment because frankly I'm not familiar enough with the brand to be commenting on individual scores, this is a brand that I only got to know through your channel unlike BP which I've known about for years. I suppose if I try to explain why I felt they were rated harshly, it is because of the "safe choice" factor - they don't have any particularly "out there" designs which resulted in a low style score, but the same reason is also contributing to the low originality score, so it almost feels like being a safe choice is marking them down in 2 categories at once. It feels harsh, but not necessarily wrong.
      For the Undostrial debate, I think at the end of the day we're just approaching the style score in different ways. The only point I've been trying to make is about choice, for example the Joe and Avtak are stylish in different ways but some prefer the understated elegance of the former and some prefer the oversized extravagance of the latter. For Undostrial, if someone doesn't like the exposed spring then it's bye bye to the brand because there's really not much else going on. You mention the other European ultra-minimalist brands, Lindberg rimless are boring but I would argue that their strip browline, acetanium, wood and horn series all offer something more and something different. That scores a lot of points with me. It is then an easy comparison with Cartier, who also have each of those series and does every one better, and naturally that would then get a higher score. The problem imo comes when a brand has vastly differing scores across different series within the same brand. The Masunaga main collection for example is extremely boring and a byproduct of a past era, being the oldest eyewear brand in Japan, and I'd happily give it a 2 at most for style. But the Masunaga x Kenzo collection is brilliantly ornate and basically showcases all the strengths of Matsuda's metalwork without Matsuda's loud and somewhat OTT designs. And yet, the Matsuda collection is consistent in what they do and doesn't contain a single bland frame. So what would you do in such a scenario? Tbh I don't really have an answer but it will be interesting to see how you tackle these dilemmas in future ratings.
      I look forward to collecting the BPs on Saturday but will you be there for it or will you have travelled already?

    • @raymondding5746
      @raymondding5746 Год назад

      @@thespectaclefactory Also thinking ahead, if you're going to be using the SF scores as information on your website then it might be worth considering tweaking some of the definitions to have less negative connotations. Like style being subjective for example, it doesn't necessarily make sense to have a 0-10 scale when some customers will actively prefer the safe or classic option that currently scores lower. Maybe something like a "more safe" to "more adventurous" scale, or even certain descriptive keywords like "ultra-modern" or "80s vibe" etc. You'll have W&H and BP sitting towards the safe end of the spectrum and JF Rey, LA Eyeworks etc on the adventurous side, and I think that will paint a more meaningful picture for the prospective customer. Also it can be a bit off-putting if I'm looking to buy a W&H frame and I see that they sit bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 4.4, so usually to balance this out there's a very important "Value" score which takes into account price - this should help to avoid the otherwise inevitable scenario of the cheaper brands congregating at the bottom of the table with scores that don't sound very nice. You'll have Gast scoring pretty highly for Value for example, and Chrome Hearts with a big fat 0 at the bottom xD Just some considerations for if you want to do more with these ratings than the current videos, at the end of the day it's your decision of course!

    You should really consider a more formal publishing format, or at least start writing. RUclipsrs, influencers &c, tend to have a juvenile, bush-league impression. If you took the time to write actual sentences, in properly set typography, you’d be seriously raising your game to the next level. Conversely, if _someone else_ did what you do, and _also_ took the time to produce quality writing, you may find yourself out of a job.
