mom used to make this when we were growing up, the only thing different i can tell, she made her layers much thinner, and depending on the time of year it would either be apple butter, or applesauce….. thank you so much for sharing this memory

My mom made the best stack cake i ever eat.She did not cut it until it's set in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. She also cooked fresh apples or dried apples and put seasonings in the apples and then put between the layers. That's the way I do mine also. Best cake ever.
This is as close to my Aunts "Stack Cake" as I have found so far...Of course she improvised a lot also. Sometimes using The dried cooked apples as you mentioned. + she used the apple-butter and the Apple sauce from time to time. And has been known to use all the above. lol Now those were YUMMY. lol LOVE your Video... Have a GREAT ONE!
That is beautiful...I'd finish it with brown sugar frosting from my grandmother's recipe box...also, prune butter would be great between the layers! You are a Master in tbe kitchen...thank you!

Sara’s health scare has caused a lot of scarring on her lungs and if you watch videos about 4-3 years ago and current ones her breathing is terrible and it has also affected her voice but she still has the same passion for cooking and teaching us I applaud you for sharing your knowledge and your creativity with inventing new recipes and improve recipes wicked ❤❤

My Grandmother, use to make a similar cake,, She called it " Apple Harvest Cake". She would do a carmel glaze on it. I couldn't wait till, Harvest time. I have tried, and tried, Mines, has never tasted as good as hers. And, it's the same recipe. I guess, it was that special love ingredient, she added. Best wishes.

Yes lets cut into it Iwant a taste too!! I like the way she measured the batter into each cake pan too make it even. I don't like apple butter so I would use apple sauce cinnamon I wish I was energetic like Sara I have only did 3 recipes of hers so far
7.31.17 ~ That looks so good! I haven't had apple butter since our kids were wee ones & even then we did NOT have it often. I do remember having it spread on bread when a kid living under my beloved Dad & Mom care. I just might make this cake come cooler Fall weather. Another month & a half should do it. God bless!
Sara just want to make a suggestion that you could bake in 2 tall sided cake pans and then slice the layers with a knife and a cake turntable after it bakes. It would probably be more moist that way.

Sara. We make a cake called Hot Apple Sauce Spice Cake. Do it the lazy way I guess use a store spice cake a large jar apple sauce that we heat in a pot and add apple spice, extra cinnamon,and sugar looks like apple butter. Bake the cake like two layers and slice them to make 4 layers pour the hot applesauce between the layers. This makes me want to make one. I love your recipes.

Ur hair looks cute that way. Just a recommendation from a long time bake...always crack ur eggs into a separate bowl. The one time I didn't do I, I got a rotten egg and had to discard my batter.

You might want to sauté tomatoes paste after you sauté your onions and garlic. It will give it a better taste since you don't cook your sauce for a long time. Also a bay leaf. Keep up your great video. Learned a lot from your video's that I didn't learn in school.
