All women who subscribe to christianity will dress similar to this once we get authority. You don't have to use exactly the outfit of the nun's, but a Hijaab unique for christians that is not similar to Islam. As for imitating atheists and pagans, then if you choose that over what is written in your texts, then you will not be qualified as Ahlul Kitaab (people of the book). We cannot enforce Islamic dress code on you, but the Islamic authority can enforce biblical rulings on you. The jews of Yathrib came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to judge between them after a man and a woman among them committed adultery. He asked them what the ruling for it is in their scripture. Their rabbi read it but covered the verse of stoning with his hand. So 'Abdullah bin Salam رضي الله عنه removed his hand and the verse of stoning was there. So they were judged in accordance with what is written in their own book. This way we will differentiate between the Ahlul Kitaab and pagans. Deuteronomy 22:5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. Genesis 24:64-65 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel, and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?” “He is my master,” the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself 1 Timothy 2:9-10 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. 1 Corinthians 11:5-6 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as having her head shaved, For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. Barnes' Notes on the Bible 1 Corinthians 11:5 _With her head uncovered_ That is, with the veil removed which she usually wore. It would seem from this that the women removed their veils, and wore their hair disheveled, when they pretended to be under the influence of divine inspiration. This was the case with the pagan priestesses; and in so doing, the Christian women imitated them.
So if they (Jews and Christians) come to you (O Muhammad ﷺ), either judge between them, or turn away from them. If you turn away from them, they cannot hurt you in the least. And if you judge, then judge with justice between them. Verily, Allah loves those who act justly. [Al-Maa'idah 5:42]

Thank you for your unceasing prayers, Sisters. So happy you are located where you are. I love the traditional habits. Prayer doesn't always seem like it works, yet it prevents evil from becoming at its worst. Or God answers slowly. I pray that there is an increase in vocations. God bless! ✝️🙏❤🌸🕊
What a beautiful place. So peaceful. I would love to go there and just meditate and smell the fragrance of flowers and just relax hearing the sounds of nature.
This is a beautiful place. They used to sell little boxes of chocolates, and the Sister in the gift shop was the only one who interacted with the public. She was so lovely; I asked her when the last time she was in the outside, she told me 1947!
Well, they could BUT they may not 'save' it. Historical sites have been raised after proper documentation and the cost/benefit equation have been presented.
As an Irish Catholic patriot in the U.K. 21 years, originally from Rural Ireland, if I ever came to America, I’d love to stay with the Dominican Sisters in this convent - I note that our national airline Aer Lingus now has direct flights from Dublin to LAX, what a wonderful idea for Aer Lingus pilots and cabin crew to be able to spend thier layover with the Sisters at this convent with the opportunity for daily Mass

I remember going there in elementary school and interviewing the nuns through a window. Like a confessional. Interesting and unforgettable experience. They were so nice.
Sister shows such peace in her presence. 🙏 ❤ Perhaps a retreat center for the laity to get away from the evils of the world for a while. Close to home but once on the property to feel so far away but close for peace and tranquility like the Carmelite sisters in Alhambra have. I’m sure Hollywood could use a close getaway for peace.
I went to Dominican Convent boarding school in San Rafael when I was in the 7th grade. Beautiful grounds. I think they’ve since turned it into a college, not a grade school anymore. I was surprised to see the nun in her traditional habit, not modernized like some of the nuns these days.
Many of my family and friends were educated by the Dominican Sisters in Dublin Ireland - the Dominican Brothers still operate the Moving Crib in Dublin Ireland and many young men are pursuing vocations to the Priesthood with the Dominicans from my home diocese in Ireland
The great thing about the Dominicans is they modernized but didn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. The habit, the devotion to Our Lady, the semi cloistered life is what attracts vocations. The Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist should come to this convent!
I was at the church Mission San Rafael near Dominican college one day a few years ago and a sister came in a modern white habit but still had a long veil on. Two older women behind her smirked at her it was so disgusting. Bad Catholics like that are why the Church is such a mess.

One time I was driving back from Hollywood after a concert and there was a bus stop where someone was sitting completely covered in an all-white habit but even their face was covered. It was like something out of a horror movie because it was approximately 3:00 a.m. and they just sat there on the bus stop. We drove off all scared 😂

Well, the Dominican Friars have many vocations in the United States, perhaps they can buy this property and make a foundation.
Maybe they can sell it and pay their abuse victims what they owe.
How do they cope with the stench of the surrounding area.
Conservative orders like this are on the Rise. Hopefully this monastery will be full again!
