I have found myself drawing ever closer to Catholicism and have made the decision that Yes I wish to be Catholic and im grateful for finding this channel. God bless everyone
God bless you After reading the fathers of the church and other first and second century writings. I know that the Catholic Church is the church that Jesus founded. Reading through the Bible it’s easy to identify now all the components of the Catholic Church, even Saint Paul, calling himself a father in Christ Jesus, though the church makes mistakes I still want to be in Jesus‘s church, and I will continue to pray for his church…. he just sent us a beautiful sign in the incorrupt body of a very holy nun ….such a beautiful story of her life. If you talk to Jesus in the tabernacle where his heart lies your faith will just take off. He wants to be loved every day, every minute. Enjoy your journey with Christ, our Lord and Savior.
God gives you freedom of choice, bow to the pope or bow at the foot of Calvary , but if you read this on judgment day you will never be able to say you didnt now your choice

As a non Catholic seeing him nerd out on succession was actually pretty cool. Like someone getting excited about filling in a family tree going back generations.
The first Christians had no doubts about how to determine which was the true Church and which doctrines the true teachings of Christ. The test was simple: Just trace the apostolic succession of the claimants. Apostolic succession is the line of bishops stretching back to the apostles. All over the world, all Catholic bishops are part of a lineage that goes back to the time of the apostles. The role of apostolic succession in preserving true doctrine is illustrated in the Bible. To make sure that the apostles’ teachings would be passed down after the deaths of the apostles, Paul told Timothy, “What you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim. 2:2). In this passage he refers to the first three generations of apostolic succession-his own generation, Timothy’s generation, and the generation Timothy will teach. “Through countryside and city [the apostles] preached, and they appointed their earliest converts, testing them by the Spirit, to be the bishops and deacons of future believers. Nor was this a novelty, for bishops and deacons had been written about a long time earlier. . . . Our apostles knew through our Lord Jesus Christ that there would be strife for the office of bishop. For this reason, therefore, having received perfect foreknowledge, they appointed those who have already been mentioned and afterwards added the further provision that, if they should die, other approved men should succeed to their ministry”- Pope Clement I (Letter to the Corinthians 42:4-5, 44:1-3 [A.D. 80] “When I had come to Rome, I [visited] Anicetus, whose deacon was Eleutherus. And after Anicetus [died], Soter succeeded, and after him Eleutherus. In each succession and in each city there is a continuance of that which is proclaimed by the law, the prophets, and the Lord”- St. Hegesippus (Memoirs, cited in Eusebius, Ecclesiastical History 4:22 [A.D. 180] “But since it would be too long to enumerate in such a volume as this the successions of all the churches, we shall confound all those who, in whatever manner, whether through self-satisfaction or vainglory, or through blindness and wicked opinion, assemble other than where it is proper, by pointing out here the successions of the bishops of the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul-that church which has the tradition and the faith with which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles. For with this Church, because of its superior origin, all churches must agree, that is, all the faithful in the whole world. And it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition”- St. Irenaeus (Against Heresies 3:3:2 [A.D. 189] “But if there be any [heresies] which are bold enough to plant [their origin] in the midst of the apostolic age, that they may thereby seem to have been handed down by the apostles, because they existed in the time of the apostles, we can say: Let them produce the original records of their churches; let them unfold the roll of their bishops, running down in due succession from the beginning in such a manner that [their first] bishop shall be able to show for his ordainer and predecessor some one of the apostles or of apostolic men-a man, moreover, who continued steadfast with the apostles. For this is the manner in which the apostolic churches transmit their registers: as the church of Smyrna, which records that Polycarp was placed therein by John; as also the church of Rome, which makes Clement to have been ordained in like manner by Peter” - Tertullian (Demurrer Against the Heretics 32 [A.D. 200] “The Church is one, and as she is one, cannot be both within and without. For if she is with [the heretic] Novatian, she was not with [Pope] Cornelius. But if she was with Cornelius, who succeeded the bishop [of Rome], Fabian, by lawful ordination, and whom, beside the honor of the priesthood the Lord glorified also with martyrdom, Novatian is not in the Church; nor can he be reckoned as a bishop, who, succeeding to no one, and despising the evangelical and apostolic tradition, sprang from himself. For he who has not been ordained in the Church can neither have nor hold to the Church in any way” - St. Cyprian (Letters 69[75]:3 [A.D. 253] “There are many other things which most properly can keep me in [the Catholic Church’s] bosom. The unanimity of peoples and nations keeps me here. Her authority, inaugurated in miracles, nourished by hope, augmented by love, and confirmed by her age, keeps me here. The succession of priests, from the very see of the apostle Peter, to whom the Lord, after his resurrection, gave the charge of feeding his sheep [John 21:15-17], up to the present episcopate, keeps me here”- St. Augustine (Against the Letter of Mani Called “The Foundation” 4:5 [A.D. 397]
I find it difficult to agree with the unbroken line of succession. First Paul was succeeded by Peter and then a break until 312 ad when Emporer Constatine held the Council of Nicea, are you suggesting that Peter lived beyond 312 Ad, I think not. Then there is the issue of who attended and defined who was who in the zoo. What about the Eastern Orthodox and Ethiopian Orthodox. I was raised Catholic, baptised, confirmation, first communion, Catholic School, but all I see is attempts to force people to comply with a man made organisation, no different to all the other denominations. Rather than relying on being coerced into following what they are trying to enforce, much better to learn the actual history, suddenly the issue is nowhere near as clear as the Catholic Church would have us believe. I haven't even touched on the issue of the books included or excluded in the Holy Bible.

Early Christian writings Peter’s Successors IRENAEUS “The blessed apostles [Peter and Paul], having founded and built up the church [of Rome] . . . handed over the office of the episcopate to Linus” (Against Heresies 3:3:3 [A.D. 189]). TERTULLIAN “[T]his is the way in which the apostolic churches transmit their lists: like the church of the Smyrneans, which records that Polycarp was placed there by John, like the church of the Romans, where Clement was ordained by Peter” (Demurrer Against the Heretics 32:2 [A.D. 200]). THE LITTLE LABYRINTH “Victor . . . was the thirteenth bishop of Rome from Peter” (The Little Labyrinth [A.D. 211], in Eusebius, Church History 5:28:3). CYPRIAN OF CARTHAGE “The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. … ’ [Matt. 16:18]. On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. . . . If someone [today] does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? If he [should] desert the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he still be confident that he is in the Church?” (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4; first edition [A.D. 251]). “Cornelius was made bishop by the decision of God and of his Christ, by the testimony of almost all the clergy, by the applause of the people then present, by the college of venerable priests and good men, at a time when no one had been made [bishop] before him-when the place of [Pope] Fabian, which is the place of Peter, the dignity of the sacerdotal chair, was vacant. Since it has been occupied both at the will of God and with the ratified consent of all of us, whoever now wishes to become bishop must do so outside. For he cannot have ecclesiastical rank who does not hold to the unity of the Church” (Letters 55:[52]):8 [A.D. 253]). “With a false bishop appointed for themselves by heretics, they dare even to set sail and carry letters from schismatics and b.asphemers to the chair of Peter and to the principal church [at Rome], in which sacerdotal unity has its source” (ibid., 59:14). EUSEBIUS OF CAESAREA “Paul testifies that Crescens was sent to Gaul [2 Tim. 4:10], but Linus, whom he mentions in the Second Epistle to Timothy [2 Tim. 4:21] as his companion at Rome, was Peter’s successor in the episcopate of the church there, as has already been shown. Clement also, who was appointed third bishop of the church at Rome, was, as Paul testifies, his co-laborer and fellow-soldier [Phil. 4:3]” (Church History 3:4:9-10 [A.D. 312]). POPE JULIUS I “[The] judgment [against Athanasius] ought to have been made, not as it was, but according to the ecclesiastical canon. . . . Are you ignorant that the custom has been to write first to us and then for a just decision to be passed from this place [Rome]? If, then, any such suspicion rested upon the bishop there [Athanasius of Alexandria], notice of it ought to have been written to the church here. But now, after having done as they pleased, they want to obtain our concurrence, although we never condemned him. Not thus are the constitutions of Paul, not thus the traditions of the Fathers. This is another form of procedure, and a novel practice. . . . What I write about this is for the common good. For what we have heard from the blessed apostle Peter, these things I signify to you” (Letter on Behalf of Athanasius [A.D. 341], contained in Athanasius, Apology Against the Arians 20-35).

As a protestant I love watching your videos. Catholicism always felt weird to me. I guess my feeling was always that the catholic church was lost in tradition to a point were scripture became secondary. Your videos really help me see how this perspective is not true and what importance the tradition itself holds. Personally I love the simplicity of protestantism. Here is the scripture, here is a church building. Just sitting in a big empty room with nothing but an altar, a cross and the word of God. However orthodox churches and catholic churches emit an ancient, golden (litterally, lol) warmth which I guess is kind of symbolic for them. I guess as a Protestant we sometimes forget the importance of tradition
Scripture isnt secundary for the Catholic Church, but Christ has given to the our church authority to decide beyond the scriptures. Why ? Because our church exists before the Bible, many books of the Bible are letters from Paul and other apostles to many of our churches around the old world. It makes sense for Protestants to believe in Sola Scripture since all denominations were founded more than 1 thousand years after the Bible was composed. But it was the Catholic Church who collected all the gospels and other holy books written by the disciples of Christ to form the Bible, and so it wouldn’t make sense to say that the Catholic Church’s authority comes from the Bible, it comes from before it, it comes from the Apostles.
@@icarojose6316the Eastern Orthodox would disagree with which church is truly “the” Church. Unfortunately the history is extremely messy and I don’t think from a factual historical perspective we will ever know.
@@richardrobertson1886 if you pray the prayers in Ephesians 1:16-23 and Ephesians 3:14-21 for yourself ( Paul prayed them for believers), God will open your Spiritual eyes. Praying these prayers is like getting a doctorate in Theology! The two times I prayed them 360 times in a year, the revelation was life altering.
@vivalibertasergovivitel... You are ignoring our Lord's clear teaching. Nowhere in Scripture is there a teaching from Him or His Apostles called: "Sola Scriptura" or "Bible alone"; such doctrine was invented by the man called Luther in 1520. On the other hand Jesus, who is God, says: ▪︎MATTHEW 16:15-19 15. Jesus said to them: But whom do you say that I am? 16. Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. 17. And Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. 18. And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build MY CHURCH, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven. MY CHURCH = JUST ONE! For such important assignment, our Lord provides a permanent guarantee to His Shepherd, which will be carried forward throughout the centuries for the constant benefit of His one Church until the end of times. ▪︎LUKE 22:31-32 31. And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren. Jesus proceeds to permanently guarantee the truth for His one Church, by sanctifying them with it: ▪︎JOHN 17:17-19 17. Sanctify them in TRUTH. Your word is TRUTH. 18. Just as you have sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19. And it is for them that I sanctify myself, so that they, too, may be sanctified in TRUTH. Therefore, any DIVISION occurring because of the practice of the unbiblical and man-made doctrine of "Sola Scriptura", opposed to His Will, is not covered under Christ's guarantee of truth. In the New Testament we further learn when Jesus founds His Church, Peter will not be alone; he will be accompanied by eleven Apostles who, after their death, would also be replaced by chosen successors who will inherit "Shepherd", or episcopal authority, through the same biblical method of imposition of hands, as described in Acts and in the Old Testament. It is therefore an irrefutable argument when St. Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit and with full apostolic authority, declares where a Christian must go for TRUTH: ▪︎1TIMOTHY 3:15 15. But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, THE PILLAR AND FOUNDATION OF TRUTH. It is quite telling, the word "Church" expressed by Paul is in the singular, never once did our Lord mentions separate, "personal", churches made by unauthorized individuals, usurping Apostolic authority by "creating" their own doctrines while existing in constant divisions against the Will of God. God is truth! Therefore, fullness of truth is essential and manifested in complete unity with the one Church Jesus founded and built on Peter: ▪︎JOHN 17:21-23 21. so that they MAY ALL BE ONE, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. 22. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may BE ONE, as WE ARE ONE, 23. I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to PERFECTION AS ONE, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. There's no other choice. Unity is divine, division is of the Devil, "the divider". May God bless your discernment.
@@joecastillo8798 I grew up in a Catholic Church with 50,000 registered members. Christmas mass would bring in $25,000 without even asking for money. The youth group had 800. I had great times in the youth services where we would wash members cars for $5 and after we would save up enough in a couple of months we would go help rebuild an orphanage that burned down or go on Mountain retreats where the priests came and gave great messages and prayer. I got a Catholic education. I could easily see the flaws in evangelical churches, but it took me 30 years before I recognized that the Catholic Church was not perfect either. 1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one mediator between God and Man, the Man Christ Jesus." John 14:6, "Jesus said to them, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me." My Aunt said that she prayed to Mary for 60 years and where did it get her? With tears in her eyes she said 22 operations and now she does not believe in God. She said, "I had my first operation at age 21." I was so Catholic and I heard so much criticism from my Christian friends that I decided to do my own survey. I asked many Catholics if they believed that Jesus died for their sins. God is my witness, many said, “No, I believe in the Virgin of Guadalupe, she appears to the poor and she loves the poor.” Startled, I questioned them again and they told me the same thing. I will be honest, all these men that responded this way were from Mexico. My mother had an uncle in the Catholic Church who was a bishop and they know better. They should not let people go to hell for idolatry. They should teach the truth. In the Original Greek in Mark 11:24, Jesus commands His apostles to believe that they already received when they pray. In 2016, six specialists told my mother that she needed a pacemaker. She was so weak that she could only walk 20 feet in 10 minutes, and then had to sit down and rest. I shared Mark 11:24 with my mother. We prayed in the name of Jesus and then my mother praised God that she was already healed. The next day she walked a mile to go get her groceries, completely normal. She never did need a pacemaker. Just days before, she was so weak that she was hospitalized for 10 days. My neighbor was sent home to die because he was so low on the list for a kidney transplant. He was bedridden. The doctors told the wife that in 2 to 3 days he would be dead. We prayed the same way and he rose up completely normal the next day. He stood out in the front yard and stopped all the neighbors and told them what happened. I could go on and on for hours telling you about several neighbors and several relatives that received this way. God confirms His Word with signs (Mark 16:20), the problem is that too many are using vain repetitions which Jesus said were vain in Matthew 6:7. Also it is the prayer of FAITH that heals the sick in James 5:15, not just prayer. Faith is based on the Bible. Since 99% of Churches do NOT teach on healing, 99% of Churches cannot pray the prayer of Faith to receive healing. I didn't believe in Faith Healing, I believed: 1) God is Sovereign 2) God is all Powerful 3) God is in Control 4) God can do whatever He wants 5) God has a purpose a plan and a time for everything 6) God knows what you are suffering. 7) In His time He will heal you. Mark 6:5-6 and James 1:5-7 completely changed what I believed. In Mark 6:5, Jesus WANTED to heal but COULD NOT because of their unbelief. James 1:5-7 shows not to think that you will receive if you doubt. How can you believe when the church is telling you that God does not heal today? You cannot. I grew up as Catholic as you can be, but I prayed the Prayers in Ephesians 1:16-23 and Ephesians 3:14-21 for myself and God gave me a spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in Healing. These prayers have been life altering for me and others. I have see the blind see, the deaf hear, the mute speak, the paralyzed walk and the dying healed. Clearly the Original Greek commands us not to use Vain Repetitions (Matthew 6:7) , but to believe that we already received (Mark 11:24 in the original).
Both the oldest churches, the Orthodox Church, and the Catholic Church, believes in Marian devotion, praying to saints, real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, Apostolic succession(ik SOME Protestant denominations too believe in Apostolic succession), etc.. So it's just ridiculous to say that Catholic and Orthodox churches aren't Christian. I hate it when so many people teach that these stuffs are unbiblical
Actually, there are four lines in total that have a legitimate line all the way to Jesus : the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, mentioned above and the two smaller lines of the Oriental Orthodox Church and the Churches of the East. Some of these churches have already returned to full communion with the Catholic Church, the coptic Catholic Church, the Ethiopian Catholic Church, the Eritrean Catholic Church, and the armenian Catholic Church are from the line of Oriental orthodox and the chaldean Catholic Church and syro-malabar Catholic Church are from the line of the churches of the East

My grandmother (God rest her soul) dud a geneology for one branch of our family and the records end around the same time period for us. Before this, heraldry may take us farther back as it was a de facto standard in times when few could read or write following the fall of Rome.
But the highest Nobel families have reliable genealogies much older. In the case of priests, I think it's likely that they simply didn't care to record it. They probably just didn't think it was all that interesting until the enlightenment and the advent of modern academic history.
@@DallasMay I contend that would be unlikely. Modem genetic studies show that around 1:50 to 1:20 fathers of records are not biological fathers. English common law actually defines the father as the lawful husband of the mother. The has never been much weight to biological connections as appose to social. And as is today: families routinely adopted peoples into them as children and adults. The genealogy is mostly a social construct. With regard the Roman Catholic Church they have never had a compete record of who have been Popes. In the early Middle Ages there were numerous succession crisis, wars and drama with pretender popes and folk rewriting records to justify claim. The issue of Apostolic succession is one of Faith. Christians don’t not need to evidence to worship or practice their faith.
@@russellmiles2861 First, we have a bit of a different definition of what constitutes accurate genealogy. I would personally absolutely accept legal adoption as legitimate lineage, not just biological heredity. And I have no issue with Apostolic succession as faith. No problem with that at all. Heck, on faith I believe a 1st century Judean lady had a virgin birth and the guy would later rise from the dead, am I really going to quibble that much on Apostolic succession? In fact, I would say the tradition of Apostolic Succession going all the way back to the actual 12 Apostles is pretty plausible in comparison. But the question in the video was not one of faith, but of proof. And the proof answer was a hard "No". In fact, the evidence he presented suggests other wise to me. That tradition of Apostolic succession as we know it was probably added much later. That said, if we are going to talk about Apostolic authority, I would rather talk about why the Church doesn't recognize that the Apostle Paul recognized and recorded women apostles in the early church? If we accept apostolic succession, when did it stop being egalitarian?

Becky, being a nun does nothing for you in terms of your salvation. In scripture, it is said that God is not a respecter of persons, meaning he does not care what your title is, what you do for a living, etc...etc. The Jews live their lives in faith & trust in God, but they are not saved. Don't you mean faith and trust in Jesus?
@@timothyreilly8394 You are assuming she wanted to be a nun to be saved. Being a nun is a vocation, answering God's call in the world, not a form of being saved. She was trying to answer God's call.
@@timothyreilly8394 How do you know they are "not saved"? The Jews are our brothers and sisters and although some of them chose not to fallow Christ, they do have a covenant with God (the Trinity) and you seem to be dismissing it. What we referred to as the "Old Testament" ( the Tanakh ) is part of our faith as it reveals the New Testament. And please remember that long, long time ago, we Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestants) were part of the jewish people, the ones who accepted Christ as the Messiah as predicted by the "Old Testament". Also remember that they didn't kill our Lord. Our Sins did, and even today we continuing to contribute to His Crucifixion by our actions. God bless you Timothy and please remember we (humanity) killed Jesus, not the Jews. Amen.
@End Times Are upon us Interesting. Thank you so much for this video. I was raised in the South as a Baptist, as was my wife. But neither one of us were ever really happy with the Baptist church, so we fell away. After getting married, moving around for my job many times, we found ourselves looking for church "home" after our son was born. We tried many churches.. Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian. We even looked at Episcopalian. I was always fascinated by the Catholic church, but always scared of the "mysticism" of it. I spent many years in research and searching for the right church. I was fortunate to have an uncle who was a history professor and taught classes on the history of religion (all religions) and their impact on civilization. He had also converted to the Catholic church many years before. I drilled him with questions for many years about the true history of many religions. I became more and more fascinated by it. It was by the grace of God that he advised me to read "Rome Sweet Home" by Scott Hahn. That book changed my life! That brought me much closer to the Catholic church, but it wasn't until my Uncle educated me on the exact verse you mentioned in this video about Jesus telling Peter that he was his rock and upon this rock he would build his church. To me, that was indisputable evidence that Jesus himself founded the Church. Not just the Catholic church, but all of Christianity. My search ended there as I came to the conclusion that if I were to be Christian, then there is no other choice, but the Church that Jesus himself founded and gave the power to Peter to govern. My wife and I, and our then teenage son, all went through Catechism training together and entered the Church as a family. We even came back as sponsors for a few years after that. So to me, this is the original "home" of Christianity and I would we settle for a "spin off" when the original is still around after 2000+ years! Thank you again for your mission and for your wonderful videos. This one really hit home for me! May God Bless You.. in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
If Jesus founded the Roman Catholic church, then why does it keep contradicting the Bible? Rome says Muslims can go to heaven (Vatican II). The Bible says Jesus is the only way (John 14:6). Rome says that anyone who says salvation is through faith alone is anathema (Trent). The Bible teaches that salvation is through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 16:30-31).
What a beautiful story! My grandmother was a southern Baptist and she used to be "kind" to her neighbor who would invite her to go to Sunday Mass with her. She only did it to be a good friend. But, one day she spoke to me much the say way you did about why go to a church that was new in history and a split from the original Church. She became a Catholic and when she died and I was sitting in the church for her Funeral Mass I kept thinking of her spiritual journey and how proud she would have been of that celebration there at the altar.
@@KingMswatiIII God bless you! The Church gave us the Bible, which is accepted by Protestants and Catholics (New Testament, anyway). If you think that Church teaching contradicts scripture, it's probably a misunderstanding. Yes, we are saved by faith, God owes us nothing based on our "goodness," but true faith shows fruit; faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26). For example, I can profess that a healthy lifestyle is a good thing, but if I don't practice a healthy lifestyle, do I really "believe" it and have "faith" in it? Lip service? True faith, saving faith, is life changing. Am I perfect? By no means! Thank God for our Lamb who paid the price and for his sacraments. As for Muslims or others being able to access the salvation which Jesus bought for all, I admit ignorance and a need to do more research; I've read/heard enough variations to not be sure where to draw the line. I admit ignorance to the portion of Vatican II you are referring to. I believe Jesus is the only way; not 100% sure how to interpret and apply that. God loves all, doesn't show favoritism, Jesus paid for the sins of us all on the cross, he forgave even his executioners (and all of us?) because they didn't know what they were doing.... Yes, sin is sin and horrific; a grievous offense against God and fellow man. I don't believe in universal salvation. But if not for a loving, merciful, forgiving, gracious, understanding God, we would all be condemned. I'm a former evangelical who entered the Catholic Church 5 years ago because studying early history and writings, I became convinced of the doctrines of "real presence" in the Eucharist and the authority of the Church which Jesus established.

@@blackfalcon1324 Peter could NOT be the first "Pope"!! Apostles to select another apostle to replace Judas: One of the twelve was Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus to His enemies. In agony of conscience, Judas hanged himself (Matthew 27:5). Thus, when Jesus returned to heaven, He left behind only eleven apostles. Some days later, the remaining apostles were in Jerusalem praying with Jesus’ mother, His brothers, and other believers. The group totaled about 120 (Acts 1:12-26). Simon Peter addressed the group and told them that Psalm 69:25 predicted Judas’ desertion and Psalm 109:8 predicted that the defector’s place among the apostles should be filled. The apostleship must fall to someone else. 6. Peter proposed choosing a new apostle and set the qualifications. Not everyone could be considered for an apostleship. 6A. Candidates needed to have been with Jesus during the whole three years that Jesus was among them. 6B. That is, he needed to be an eyewitness of Jesus’ baptism when the Heavenly Father validated Jesus’ person and work. He needed to have heard Jesus’ life-changing teachings 6C. and been present to see His healings and other miracles. 6D. Prospective apostles had to witnessed Jesus sacrifice Himself on the cross and to have seen Jesus walk, talk, and eat among the disciples again after His resurrection. These were the pivotal facts of Jesus’ life, the heart of the message they were to teach, and personal witnesses were required to verify the truth of the good news. The prayer group in Jerusalem nominated two who met these qualifications for apostleship: Joseph Barsabbas and Matthias. Then the disciples asked God to guide them to know which one was to fill the post. Using a method of determining God’s will that was common at that time, they cast lots, thus giving God freedom to make His choice clear. The lot fell to Matthias, and he became the twelfth apostle. So I was raised Lutheran, I was raised to believe that the prayer for all Christians was the reunification of the Church. I still believe this and I attend both Lutheran and Presbyterian. It’s like a family that has fractured, had a huge disagreement that was never resolved. Yes it’s sad and even tragic. Yet we are still one family, one Body of Christ and it pleases God when we get along and recognize that we are Brothers and Sisters. I’ll leave it at that….

It hard to get any more divisive than calling your own church the one true church. At some point, we have to admit we are all human, and arguing over who is right is time wasted on what really matters.
As a 'protestant', I would be interested to hear a video/series on the Protestant Reformation, and possibly some of the views that the Catholic Church had on it, and why they think it came about. You mentioned having wanted a reform from within, but I have heard that Martin Luther tried to do that before he ultimately broke from the Catholic Church. Realize that I am not trying to argue. Coming from the protestant side of this, I have been watching to try to understand where some of the traditions, that I do follow, came from. I want to know what is different between these two sides, and why. I personally think that both sides are Christian, with acknowledging that there are bad seeds (the Bible does warn against false prophets) that do not teach the true faith.
From what I found, Martin Luther’s original intention was to reform the Catholic Church from within. It was not the reforms he wanted that got him in trouble. What got him excommunicated was promoting the heresy of Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide.
Mot Loch the Mad in response to you wanting to know the differences.... I think we are more alike than we are different. It's sad that those differences caused such a huge split that has exponentially multiplied into more splits. In my opinion, the "IT" thing to do these days is open up your own church and just call it non-denominational so that you do not offend anyone.
I also was unclear about the end part. I've been through a journey, being raised as a Catholic in the Novas Ordo , post Vatican 2 Church. My journey led me to Traditional Catholicism. I admire the devout faith of many Protestants, and in SOME respects, I feel that the Catholic Traditionalists have more in common with many Protestants than with the Modernist Novus Ordo Catholics,, where heresy is common and increasing. And Pope Francis is another whole story. Dialogue IS needed, and while there is much good example from our devout Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ, compromise in the unchangeable dogma of the faith is not a point of compromised to be considered. But I'm not sure at all that that is what is being suggested.
@@JoeBoone82 I would agree we are more alike than we are different. As far as I was able to learn, we have even come to lessen some of differences, that historically seemed completely opposite. That being said, I don't believe calling oneself non-denominational or even simplifying our beliefs until we all kinda agree is a good thing. I believe we are all called to learn and get to know our own faith better, to learn about our traditions, beliefs, teachings... especially if such questions bother us. Then we are callled to learn about others, what they believe, how do they understand things differently... In doing so, we must assume the goodwill and good intent of others, even when disagreeing or remaining wary of some claims. We must also recognise others for their strengths, where we can learn from them and/or show them respect. And then we respect and love one another, even if they're different and don't agree on everything. Pretending we are all the same won't cover all the everyday minutia we have learned throughout our upbringing and life in a particular community and all that inevitably backfires when even minor issues and tensions start.

But The worst îs The decive that The spirit doesnt die after death, hence ocultism and spiritism has free starting gear, its wrote very clerarly în The bible, The man after he died, does not know anything anymore,he does not have plans, and all his toughts perished, death îs like a sleep, 1 second sleep, only thing that matters îs if you died with god în youre heart or not, all dead people rest till The apocalypse wich îs pretty much knocking on The door, but see The beauty og god unlike vatican, many people who were catolics, and died not knowing there being decived by theire priest, and loved god , god will not punish there unknowingness, and they will go to heav3n, but this îs not The case anymore this last days! The three angels of apocalypse thqt spread gods truth îs working, and more and more people find ouț, that saturday îs actualy gods day, not sunday, sunday îs catolicism day, that will be The sign, and after everyone heared, people will have to choose! Im asured if you are a god fearing and truth seeking person, god and The holy spirit will Guido you, but you have to admit above youre ego, that The catolic institution îs demonic, I said îl send you that video to I will, only praise god I can hopefully send this, they Block me many times, The beast with 10 horns that rises from waters and has a wound that healed îs vatican and The popes, The smalț horn îs vatican, smalest state rest horns are more nations, like I saied theyve met The pope The presidents and The iluminați by and all religions to be one whole worldwide religion, and only people that will not give prayse to pope will be gods people, who keep all 10 comandemnts, The fourth being keeping The sabath vich îs saturday, s-o The small horn vatican, The wound,în 1798 one of napoleon generals took The pope and trow him în jail, and abolished The blasphemycal and tiranical rulem3nt of catolicism, this lasted for about 150 years as you see know The church îs more powerfull than ever! The second beast with 2 horns as a lambs who will give entire autority to The best and its sign îs america, this beast rised from The earth, it Rose from The earth, cuz în less thqn 150 years become The biggest power, The horns of lambs, signify The freedom of speech, religion, capitalism, plus many neoprotestants emigrated there, ! Whell theese freedom of speech and all that after gods final worning of The call, lord îs coming give him prayse, at this Point almost everywere în The world, The angrls spread The message with gods actual day, America will give a decret that anyone who doesnt bow to pope and worship sunday will be public enemy, but rhat doesnt matter for people, who care about god, s-o if you are truly a godfearing person dont worry, only accept gods truth not The majority, Take Martin Luther for exemple, he was a catolic bishop, but god showed him satans desive, and he outspoken it everywere, not carryng about consequences, The vatican had boynty on him, but god always helped him go and spread gods word against papal autority, s-o îs Ellen G White, like Martin Luther, she was a woman with only 6 grades but she wrote tens of books about gods truth, explained many în The bible, The fight between good and evil, truly godsent person like Martin Luther, s-o when god wants to work he works în mysterious ways, you can find books of heres at any 7day adventist library or website! But please do youre research regarding everything I saied, this îs gods comand for people not to be mislead în The end times, whatever you hear, it has to be written Point black on white în The bible! The ten comademnts are în exodus 20, im sure The claim with theire autority to change The day im sure you find them în many catolic documents, The american catolic quaarterly review, The catehism doctrine everywere, I told you they dont hide it, as claiming The pope has this power to change day as he îs The replace of god on earth, bigest blasphemy! God bless you felow brother în hrist and May The hily spirit Guido you to gods feet! God bless you and youre loved ones!
The Roman Catholic Faith church is/ should be, the trunk & tap root of the tree of the church of Jesus Christ & is the real deal and has enough wealth - so of course no need to treat the church as a money making tool or family business using the "Jesus" brand to raise money.

@Richard Fox Richard, Your comment to @Simon slater evidences how little you know of the Bible and the history of Christianity. I prove it to you with these simple questions: 1.- How many "churches" and "sects" did Jesus found? 2.- How do you know the Bible is the Word of God? Who, when and where told you? 3.- Do you know where the adjective "Catholic", for the Church founded by Jesus, originated from? I hope to see your discernment on just those three questions if they are not too difficult for you to respond. God bless.

12:30 “I just wish the reforms they offered could have been from within. I wish they hadn’t felt the need to start something new…” seriously the first reformers were Catholic monks who attempted to start reforms from within because they were a part of the Catholic church and loved it and hated seeing the evils that started coming out of it and it was the Catholic Church leaders, drunk on money and power that kicked them out.
About the catholic church: Change the Sabbath" Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her,- she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority."- "A Doctrinal Catechism," by Rev. Stephen Keenan, page 174. "The Catholic Church of its own infallible authority created Sunday a holy day to take the place of the Sabbath of the old law."- Kansas City Catholic, Feb. 9, 1893. "Ques.- Which is the Sabbath day? "Ans.- Saturday is the Sabbath day. "Ques.- Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? "Ans.- We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A. What was done at the Council of Laodicea was but one of the steps by which the change or the Sabbath was effected. The date usually given for this council is 364 A. D.
As a protestant I just want to thank you for your closing points. I'm tired of the division as well. I see Catholics and Orthodox as my brothers in Christ and I see so much goodness in Catholicism. I still have my issues, and it's going to take a lot for all protestants to be rallied together to have a discussion with the Catholic Church. But if that's not something to pray for I don't know what is!
Good explanation I'm catholic and I don't like to argue with my friends about the right church but now I have a better understanding of what catholicism is about.
One thing that really ensure me of the sanctity of catholic faith is how the priests are to remain celibate. I think to separate a man from his flesh is really needed to reach the kind of devotion which truly illuminates. Nuns and monks also fall into the same categories.
Father Casey, the reconciliation of sins was method the Lord used to save my life. Bottom line, prior to the Sacrement I was different than after and since.
What about that part where the church went apostate and popes became vicious and ruthless political leaders and then when it split and there were 3 popes? At some point you’ve got to admit it went into apostasy and the current version is no more consistent with the apostolic age than any Protestant denomination
IS R CATHOLIC CHURCH THE ONE TRUE CHURCH? ⭐ Was R Catholic Church the Church founded by Christ? ⭐ There answer is No. R Catholic Church was not founded by Christ. The First mentioned Church was Jerusalem Church. Acts 2. Not R Catholic Church. The First Believers were Jewish Christians. Not R Catholics. Acts 2, Acts 11:26. ⭐ Is R Catholic CHurch the One True Church or the Universal Church or Christ’s Church? ⭐ The answer is No. ⭐ Is R Catholic Church the same as Catholic Church? ⭐ The answer is No. “catholic” in all early writings referred to all churches/all believers. Nothing to do with a local Church called R Catholic Church which came in ad300s. It is the claim of R Catholics that they are one and the same. But we know its not. How do we know? - Orthos also claimed to be the Catholic Church. So who is right? R Church or Orthos? - Bible says Church refers to all churches + all believers. So how can R Church a local church be all churches? - R Catholics can never prove when R Church really became the Universal Church. When asked which year it happened, they have no answer. Their only answer was always “R church says so” or Mat 16 or 1 Tim 3:15 say so (which they did not say so). - 95% of R Church doctrines do not resemble those from Jesus Apostles and Nt Church of the Bible. - 95% of R Church clergies do not resemble those in Scriptures. ⭐ Is R Catholic Church the One True Church? ⭐ Bible does not say a local church is the Church or the one true church. The Church in the Bible refers to all churches + all believers. How we know? Just take out all the verses the mention Church and Churches in the Bible we will know what they meant exactly. ⭐ Founding of R Catholic Church ⭐ R Catholic Church came in ad 380 when Theodosius decreed the Edict of Thessalonica. Christianity became the official religion of Rome - which later became what we called R Catholic Church. In ad 300s it was called Church of Rome or the Latin Church or the Western Church. It was just a local church. It became prominent due to its backing from Rome and later became part of the Pentarchy consisting of 5 prominent local churches - Rome, Jerusalem, Antioch, Constantinople, Alexandria. Pentarchy + all local churches then formed the Church or the Universal Church. R Church was never the Church.

The first known bishop of bishops (pope) in history came in ad590s-600. Not ad 33. Ignatius writings were spurious. So you are using spurious writings as truth? Ignatius could just be a fictitious figure invented by R Church. Whatever the case these early writings had already deviated from the Earliest Church Fathers - Jesus, Apostles and nt church. The Earliest is always the correct one. Not the latter deviated versions.* you said By AD 325, we were on our 33rd pope. @@danceswithbears2521 PAPACY IS NOT IN THE BIBLE ⭐ Mat 16 proves Papacy? ⭐ The favourite claims of R Catholics is Mat 16. Mat 16 does not say R Church = the Church or the Universal Church. Neither R Church inheriting any authority of Peter or was successor of Peter. So this is just the claim of R Church. Totally not proven. ⭐ Kepha proves Papacy? ⭐ R Catholics love tales. NT was not written in Aramaic. Why would Kepha prove Papacy? ⭐ Isaiah 22 proves Papacy? ⭐ Isaiah 22 says nothing of Peter becoming Pope. The Key of David was a Kingly Key. Not for stewards. Key of David is a Singular Key. Mat 16 Keys to Kingdom of Heaven refers to Plural Keys. Totally different Key/Keys. R Catholics are desperate to pretend they are the same Key/Keys. Jesus hold the Key of David. Not Peter. Jesus would return and sit on the Throne of David to rule over all kingdoms during the Millennial. Totally nothing to do with Counterfeit Church R Church which was mentioned in Rev 17-18 as the Apostate Church. ⭐ Who is the Rock? Jesus or Peter? ⭐ Bible says Jesus is the Rock. Peter said Jesus is the Rock. Apostle Paul said Jesus is the Rock. OT says God is the Rock. Rom 9:33 As it is written: "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STUMBLING STONE AND ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME." 1Co 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 1Pe 2:8 and "A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE." They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. ⭐ 1 Tim 3:15 proves R Church? ⭐ 1 Tim 3:15 like Mat 16 does not say R Church = Christ’s Church or the Universal Church. It most definitively does not prove anything. Bible says the term ‘Church’ refers to all churches + all believers. Not some local church called R Catholic Church which came about in ad300s. ⭐ Irenaeus Writings prove papacy and primacy of Rome? ⭐ Most certainly not since Irenaeus Against Heresies was a spurious writing that claimed Jesus was crucified at 50 years old and many other claims. Irenaeus Against Heresies was said to be an interpolation of many writings at different times. ⭐ Early writings proves doctrines? ⭐ Early writings do not prove doctrines. They were merely opinions of fallible writers or fan club members of Rome. Doctrines come from infallible source - God and His Word which came from the Earliest Church Fathers - Jesus, Apostles and nt Church. ⭐ Early writings similar to R Church doctrines? ⭐ Hardly. Early Church Fathers - Jesus Apostles and nt church mentioned nothing about 95% of R Church m m doctrines. The latter writings were only deviations from the teachings of Jesus, Apostles and nt church. ⭐ So where did R Church doctrines come from? ⭐ If we check history, R Church doctrines came from their own m m traditions. R Church doctrines were developed over the millennial. 95% Not from Jesus Apostles or Scriptures. Example: doctrine of transubstantiation came only in ad1215. Most R Church doctrines came from their “infallible” popes who were often in living in sin and debauchery. Some came from their own fallible councils. None Scriptural. ⭐ Is the line of popes real? ⭐ The answer is No. Famous historians who analysed the documents at Vatican library says its not a true line of popes. There were times with no pope or times with multiple popes or times with anti popes or times with duplicated names; they were the same person. Citation: Exodus From Rome Volume 1: A Biblical and Historical Critique of Roman Catholicism “A press release from Vatican City in January of 1947 reported that information was changed on seventy-four Popes on the list of Popes supposedly documenting an unbroken chain of apostolic succession. Prefect of the Vatican archives, Monsignor Angelo Mercati, conducted a thorough investigation into the lists of Popes because scholars had known that the old list was inaccurate.* Mercati’s research confirmed just how inaccurate it was. His results were the following: - Six Popes had to be dropped: one (Donus II) never existed; - two (the supposed third and fifth Popes Cletus and Anacletus) were the same man. - But three new Popes had been found: Boniface VI (for a few days in 896), and possibly, Discorus (for 22 days in 530) and Leo VIII (from 963 to 965). - In the case of no fewer than 74 Popes, changes had to be made in such matters as their names and dates. - Thirty-seven antiPopes are listed, the first of whom-Hippolytus of the 3rd century-is still considered a saint. From four legitimate pontiffs the designation of sainthood was removed. - Because of sketchy records and the questionable validity of some papal elections, Pius XII will probably never know whether he is the 256th successor to St. Peter or the 260th-or someone in between. It is clear that the Vatican, over the course of centuries, has produced fabricated lists of Popes to support their illegitimate claim for an unbroken chain of papal successors from Peter to the current Pope, but in so doing have admittedly altered, removed, added, and in some cases, invented Popes to give this appearance of uninterrupted historical continuity.” ⭐ Does a line of Popes prove Papacy? ⭐ The answer is No. Why? Every organisation has a line of leaders. Even Church of Lucy has a line of leaders. How does a line of leaders prove its a true doctrine? A line exists does not equate to it being biblical.
No one dare calls my dear Jesus' founded Church foul names. Love this video for its balance. I agree with you and after 52 years being a Christian (Anglican roots) have decided to join the Catholic Church - much more difficult. I am divorced and the local Catholic father says he is too busy to assist me with the process**. So I am half way through the Catechism on my own (The original Council of Trent document - in English) and hope to find acceptance into the Catholic Church once I'm done. ** it is this "unhelpful attitude" absent from other denominations that made the protestant's denominations flourish. (From South Africa)
It's far more than that. Many Protestants are Protestants because they protest the unbiblical, pagan-influenced, papally-ruled, unsatisfying catholic system of rituals and untruths, as well as the papal history of mass murder in the inquisitions.
You’re not the only one. I was born and raised in the Protestant faith and I’ve recently started my own conversion to the real church. And I’m one of thousands in this generation who have made the choice to return to the rock.

If you study in Catholic schools/universities, these are being taught, or at least introduced. You have to be part of the Church's community to learn about this. If you are simply an outsider, you just come to the Church for an hour of the Holy Mass each week, wala ka talagang malalaman. The Catholic Churches in PH is a great part of our society. Drive or walk a few kilometers, you are already in another parish. Catholic schools are every where too. By saying, the Catholic Church did not teach this and that in a society that extremely Catholic is not the Church's fault, but your fault. Did you even attempt to visit your parish and ask about this?
Yes! Next question, Padre 😌😌😌😆. Usually when I’m debating with my non Catholic friends about it I first remind them of the Bible passage of bounding things on earth as in heaven, and also that the church isn’t just the physical building/institution So far, one of them told that they’ve converted and they’ll be attending rcia. I'm so grateful for these videos coming from a big Irish family i was always in church but often tuned out ,there is always that undercurrent though thats undeniable
I am proud to be Catholic. Jesus couldn't have made it clearer. After the Resurrection, appearing to the disciples, breathes his Spirit into them and says "As The Father sent me, so I send you. Receive The Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven who sins you retain are retained" St. Peter was the 1st Pope. Anyway, Thank you Father for making these videos. God Bless you
@Mike Porro I agree...we have to be humble. But If your referring to my pride in being Catholic, Catholicism humbles me. But my pride in the Church is great. 🙏🙏
So Peter can have a wife and kids but everyone else in the church has to be celebate? You call these priests father but Jesus himself said in "Matthew 23:9 - And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven." Also how can wicken men forgive sin? Oh right, they cant, because that makes no sense. "John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." We cannot come unto God without Jesus. It doesnt say "no man cometh unto the Father, but by Priest"
@christsavesreadromans1096 7 Books even catholics were split on adding you mean? the ones that were written completely in greek (not hebrew at all) and conflict with the new testament? the books where the source scripture could never be found? oh yeah protestants removed those ones, easy decision.
Thanks for this video! I feel like the protestant churches I've grown up in don't ever discuss about this topic. You point out that Jesus never commanded the apostles to anoint a new apostle after Judas's death. Therefore, it seems clear to me that apostolic succession is not what makes a church a church. "The Church" is composed of Christ-followers, no matter where or when they meet. Especially in the absence of records, it seems that focusing on apostolic succession instead of the divine priesthood of all Christians is detrimental to the cohesion of the church. But I'd love to hear what smarter people have learned about this topic from studying Scripture. 😊

Wow. This video blew me away. My hobby is genealogy, and your tracing of the lines of succession reminded me so much of a fairly well established "fact" in genealogy that most people of European decent come from a VERY small pool of individuals. The discussion was so similar. Will we ever get a real answer? I don't know. The pointing out the vast number of Christian denomination can be confusing. I always fall back on the words of St. Paul. "Is Christ divided?" That helps me find my center and remember that, as my wife points out, we only worship one God.
My brother and I were raised Southern Baptist. He married a Catholic and converted and is very happy in that Faith. I would also happily join the Catholic Church, however, I simply cannot get past the loss of traditional Southern Baptist "Gaither Gospel" style music. I also become disenchanted with many Protestant churches due to the snipping and personalities in the church, they break away and form their own church, then it divides and breaks away. I am also a big genealogy enthusiast and enjoyed the Father becoming excited trying to trace back the succession of Bishops. Nice video.
I am a Filipino and was raised catholic. When I was a child, my best friend's family were Lutheran protestants. I often go with her to their church specially during the summer when they have activities. I love their gospel songs and learned some that I still love til now.

Let us hope that in some dusty archive the answers may be found. Little story: I was in the congregation of St Mary the Virgin, Benfleet. A Church of England Church. Our priest spent a fair amount of time at Westminster Abbey (Also Anglican) and searched some records relating to St Mary's. He found a Papal Bull from the 13th century, authorising the parish of St Mary the Virgin, signed by the Pope. He asked the archivist something on the lines of 'is this a copy' and was told 'no, this is the original'. Signed by the Pope (don't ask me which one, there is a photocopy of it on the wall of the Church)
@@bernardokrolo2275 It is a simple story. A true story. Fr Casey is talking about hoping to find the 'missing links' in the records of Apostolic Succession. He mentions that there may be records somewhere perhaps in the Vatican that will do that. The story I relate shows that there are things in dusty corners waiting to be found.
@@bernardokrolo2275 No worries! Our priest found all sorts of strange stuff, things like the cost of a replacement bell rope way back in the 18th century. The letter from the Pope was the icing on the cake for us. A historian might use such documents to demonstrate all kinds of things, although our Church was Anglican, many visitors would ask 'is this a Catholic Church?'. Well, when the current Church was built, to replace the one burned down during a battle against the Vikings, in England, all Churches were Catholic. The building has many features that we might associate with Catholicism, and in itself is a witness to 1,200 years of worship on the site.

This is a delight to watch, my main issue with the Catholic Church has always been the behaviour of catholics towards non-catholics. Calling them Heretics and Apostates etc. it is lovely to hear a RC priest speak with love and kindness about fellow Christians. We share so much more than that which decides us.
Love your video here, super neat. I also want to say as a disability advocate I really do appreciate you captioning your video, I don't know if you did it manually, or if "the algorithm" did it, but thank you for doing that, please continue.
Amen, Fr. Casey. The first half of your video was done very well - succinct and points to the main passages that support the claim of the Catholic Church. The second part was quite interesting. In the end, we join Jesus in His prayer that we, the body of Christ, may be one as He and the Father are one. God bless!

Thanks to God for bringing me here to your channel, Father. I've been a devotee of the Lord of Pardon since I was 7 or 8 years old. My mother taught me of this booklet that I would always carry with me wherever I'd go. It showed me miracles and protection. In the past few days, I began feeling worried and confused about staying as a catholic. So, I begged and prayed to God for answers bcuz I don't wanna stop being a Catholic bcuz years ago I felt this strong feeling as if it was God who was telling me that I should distribute this prayer booklet (of the Lord of Pardon) to people. I was crying as I was telling God, "Please help me, God. All my life I've devoted myself to praying to the Lord of Pardon. This can't be wrong. How can I let the other people know about these prayers if I'd change my religion?"

A video such as this dealing with this topic -is well overdue, I say this because RUclips is a public forum where people of all persuasions can view/read the comments from all & sundry - hence are properly informed of the history of The Christian Faith through Roman Catholicism which is *strangely* regarded as "Not Christian". Clearly, viewing/listening to Fr. Casey in this video firmly places The Roman Catholic Church as the 'Tree trunk with tap root' of Christianity - with the break away fragments as branches, twigs & leaves espousing the Christian message in 'a fashion'. @@mitchellosmer1293 Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful to baptize or give communion without the consent of the bishop. - Letter to the Smyrnaeans 8, St. Ignatius of Antioch, 110 AD Constantine did not create Christianity, he converted to it and legalized it after a period of stringent persecution. If you say the church did not exist before him, what did Constantine convert to? What were the bishops at the Council of Nicaea doing before Constantine became a Christian? What was Ignatius of Antioch talking about when he was talking about bishops and the Catholic Church 200 ENTIRE YEARS before Constantine? Something not being explicitly stated in the bible does not mean it is false. Like the bible does not say God is omnipotent or omnipresent in those exact words but we can infer that it is taught by the meaning of the words. Jesus verbatim says in the book of Matthew that on Peter (or Peter's confession) he will build his Church and the gates of hell shall never prevail against it. Maybe you think that Jesus was a liar and the gates of hell prevailed against the Church within 70 years to the point where every single early father of the Church was teaching heresy. Even the bible says that there were teachings of the apostles not written down: So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. - 2 Thessalonians 2:15, St. Paul Do you know what was taught by the apostles that wasn't written down? Or will you concede that there is a deposit of faith that exists outside of the Bible? Please stop parroting these anti-catholic slogans you heard from a pastor and think about the claims of the Catholic church. I am not even Catholic (leaning more Orthodox) but making statements like these make it seem like you haven't even studied the facts.
As an Anglican priest, I admire and love so much of your work. You are eloquent and convincing where we agree, and you are eloquent and compassionate where we do not. Obviously I do think my Anglican colleagues and I are indeed in the same line. Our first bishops were Catholic bishops, and most never thought of themselves as *not* Catholic. Even traditions that do not necessarily theologically place much weight on historical succession are more in it that one may think. Given how pastors are often ordained by other pastors and Baptist pastors were often originally Puritan ones who were originally Anglican ones, they too are in line. We may all be heretics--a separate discussion--but we are connected all to Jesus. That is something I find so frustrating and so holy about Christian diversity. All these people who think like me, and all these people who don't, we all look to Jesus as our saviour. And for me that is the proof that he established his church. But also that his church is bigger than any one institution, Father Casey's or mine. I appreciate your compassion and love for us Protestants. I would say most of us, not all of us, don't think our reforms are *not* from within. Sorry for the double negatives, but that is my point. I am Protestant because I protest things I think worth protesting, but I no more "left" than any honest political protestor has left their country when they speak out or refuse to obey what they consider to be injust authority.
I love people but i have to say we shouldnt let any of our tolerance slipped into heressy just because we want to "love" them, either from your perspective as anglican or from mine as catholic. To say so, in 1897, pope leo xiii had clearly declared that ALL anglican ordinations are absolutely null and utterly void. Somehow it makes me thankful that the grace of priesthood that is preserved from early church never "touched" those women, and lgbtq bishops and priests anglican church has been ordaining. I dont hate them, but in my sense thats one of ways holy spirit keeps it "pure".
@@joefrescoln it is arguable on tge issue whether it is infallible or not. But, it doesnt deprive anything on the matter that the catholic church standpoint is that all anglican ordinations are null and void. That infalibility issue will only matter if any future pope dissents to it. But to this day, none of them. So, all agree that the anglican ordinations are null and void.
@@theosteven3362 It hasn't been deemed infallible. I'm not prepared to argue whether it's arguable :-P A cool and interesting thing about the RCC is that (from my understanding) sometime in the future Apostolicae curae (arguably) could be retroactively reversed.
@Eucharist Angel That may be true but it was alluded to by Christ himself (confer Matt 19:12). He even went further to say that "the one who can accept this should accept it" because even the disciples were shocked by the very notion of celibacy &/or marriages without the option of divorce. Please read the whole chapter. If you can for a second focus on actually studying Sacred Scripture contextually instead of sheer anti-catholicism, you'd find deeper meanings to many concepts & practices you think are un-christian.
@Eucharist Angel lol I'm still trying to find where I at the very least implied that the all major catholic doctrine can't be found in scripture, like I mean, I'm Nigerian, English is my 3rd language if not my 4th but it seems to me I comprehend it a lot better than most native speakers, and 99% of them tend to be staunch anti-catholics on SM, it's becoming too predictable & laughable. I give them a scripture to read, they don't even glance at it rather they just come back here & talk about something totally unrelated & strange claiming implicitness in my words, it's almost like you can't help yourselves. Well, I understand reading and comprehension can be difficult for some people but you have to at least try, you have access to the largest & most sophisticated library ever created, you have Sacred scripture, avail yourself of some study, clear your mind of sentiment, ask the Holy Spirit for strenth and guidance. Now I understand your first instinct as usual will be to dismiss my words immediately & start typing, just wait a second, calm down, take a deep breath and contemplate, give me the benefit of doubt, even if you think I'm some satan worshipping antichrist doomed to hades, I'm still human & as a "true Christian" you are bound to love me either way right? So just try & put in the effort. You don't have to agree with me or with Catholicism, hell, I don't even expect you to but just try to be a bit more open minded instead of being dismissive, a wise person like yourself can always learn a thing or two even from a foolish man's folly right?
I have some friends that are questioning their Catholic faith. Some have even left the Catholic Church. One just asked me a question recently about Catholics praying to Mary and concentrating on her more like worshiping her. He said it wasn’t originally in the early church that it just got introduced by popes and their doctrine. So I’m looking for way to make him see the truth in the Catholic Church and return. Please can you make a video on that?
I recommend the tridentine mass, it's a traditional mass being one of the most beautiful and entrusting aspects of the church in my opinion, it renovated my faith and reintroduced me in the Church
In 1988 the Pope said that we had finished the age of Jesus and elevated Mary. This doesn't diminish Jesus but elevates the feminine. We are moving into an era of equality.
I know I'm late but I would highly recommend looking up Our Lady of La Leche. It's a devotion to Mary nursing Jesus and was found in the Roman catacombs. A devotion to Mary goes back much further than many people know. This at least would go against the notion that a devotion to Mary is a newer idea.
Mary did Nothing for us. She simply gave birth to the one WE should be looking to. Jesus said...I am the way,the truth and the life..No one goes to the Father but THROUGH me.
As a lover of history myself, I found this of particular interest. Wouldn’t it be great if, with the opening of the archives in Rome, it would be possible to find records going even further back. Have the Orthodox ever made a major study of the succession?
The oldest church would be the Arminian Church founded by Bartholomew. Best trace apostolic succession from there. There is no evidence that Peter even went to Rome. That is more myth

I have a question: as a catholic, is it incumbant on you to have faith in flimsy church history in addition to faith in christ. Its one thing to have faith in jesus but its another thing to have faith in someone other than jesus. How do you know peter is buried at st peters?

What's more important is what the Bible says. In Acts 16, Paul is in jail. The jailer asks what he must do to be saved. Paul just tells him to believe in the Lord Jesus, he doesn't mention works (30-31). You can also see this teaching in Ephesians 2:8-9 In the 16th century at the Council of Trent, Rome anathematized those who teach that salvation is through faith alone.
@@KingMswatiIII Kindly read the teachings of Christ in the synoptic gospels, especially Lk 20:25-37 where He, in answer to the question on how to "inherit or have a share in eternal life" (true salvation), says that "works of love" are essential. Those "works of love" are: [1] Love of GOD (faith); and [2] Love of neighbor (good works). Christ decreed, "Then go and do the same" (referring to the second - good works). Paul never contradicted Christ in his letters/teachings to the Gentiles, as he exhorted all believers to do good works in glorification of God in the latter part of his letters. He talked about "good works" in Eph 2:10 and in the rest of the chapters in Ephesians. Paul wasn't really talking of salvation in the context of eternal life (life after this earthly mortal life) in Ephesians 1 to 6 - but only about being redeemed or forgiven of past sins after believing and repenting; about being made an adopted child of God (no more distinction between Jews and Gentiles); and thus being now a part of God's vision/plan of a unified church in Christ Jesus. *Peace and blessings...*
@@levymanlapig8970 I think you might have typed the wrong verse, Luke 20:25-37 isn't talking about what you say it is. Yes, He did found the Catholic church. He also founded the Orthodox church, but then, both congregations were one. Saint Paul once stopped division from happening when he wrote his first letter to the church in Corinth and even Saint Polycarp helped understanding between the Christians in the east and west. Then came that stupid great schism which divided the church, and later Martin Luther was excommunicated leading to the Protestant Reformation. I believe that there should be brotherly unity between the different congregations because we are all one body in Christ.
Good video. It’s a bit worrying to imagine that some 99% of all bishops trace their line back to a single man in the 1500s - it would be incredibly easy as a Protestant to claim that the single man was the anti-Christ and all his successors were part of a false church (I’m sure some have done this, given its closeness to the time of Martin Luther). If anything, I’m now curious about why so many of these bishops were ordained by this man. What happened in this time that shortened the number of valid priestly lines of succession?
If they did, they’d be professing the heresy Donatism. A sacrament is valid, in this ordination, not because of the holiness of the one giving or receiving it, but because of the holiness of Jesus. Even if Rebiba was a horrible person, his ordination would be valid.

It absolutely calls it into question. Basically, we are being told that the Catholic Church is the one and only true church, but you can't prove it properly. The Bible also counters many things in the Catholic belief, purgatory, prayers to saints, etc. The biggest for me is purgatory, Catholics Basically just proclaimed that purgatory was real with NO sufficient evidence. If heaven and he'll are both dirextly discussed in the bible, it would only make sense for it to directly discuss purgatory, but it doesn't. Protestanism began because it was believed the Catholic Church left the roots of the true church of Jesus.
I’m not sure what you mean by no sufficient evidence. There is plenty of biblical evidence-it’s just in books of the Bible that Protestants removed (maybe because it proved purgatory?).
_«[...] And maybe, hopefully, by the grace of God, one day come to give up the protest so we can reunite what Christ founded.»_ That is a very powerful and beautiful message, father. Gave me chills.

“When I had come to Rome, I [visited] Anicetus, whose deacon was Eleutherus. 180]
“But since it would be too long to enumerate in such a volume as this the successions of all the churches, we shall confound all those who, in whatever manner, whether through self-satisfaction or vainglory, or through blindness and wicked opinion, assemble other than where it is proper, by pointing out here the successions of the bishops of the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul-that church which has the tradition and the faith with which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles. For with this Church, because of its superior origin, all churches must agree, that is, all the faithful in the whole world. And it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition”- St. Irenaeus (Against Heresies 3:3:2 [A.D. 189]
“But if there be any [heresies] which are bold enough to plant [their origin] in the midst of the apostolic age, that they may thereby seem to have been handed down by the apostles, because they existed in the time of the apostles, we can say: Let them produce the original records of their churches; let them unfold the roll of their bishops, running down in due succession from the beginning in such a manner that [their first] bishop shall be able to show for his ordainer and predecessor some one of the apostles or of apostolic men-a man, moreover, who continued steadfast with the apostles. 200]
“The Church is one, and as she is one, cannot be both within and without. 253]
“There are many other things which most properly can keep me in [the Catholic Church’s] bosom.

Early Christian writings
Peter’s Successors
IRENAEUS
“The blessed apostles [Peter and Paul], having founded and built up the church [of Rome] . . . handed over the office of the episcopate to Linus” (Against Heresies 3:3:3 [A.D. 189]).
TERTULLIAN
“[T]his is the way in which the apostolic churches transmit their lists: like the church of the Smyrneans, which records that Polycarp was placed there by John, like the church of the Romans, where Clement was ordained by Peter” (Demurrer Against the Heretics 32:2 [A.D. 200]).
THE LITTLE LABYRINTH
“Victor . . . was the thirteenth bishop of Rome from Peter” (The Little Labyrinth [A.D. 211], in Eusebius, Church History 5:28:3).
CYPRIAN OF CARTHAGE
“The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. … ’ [Matt.
EUSEBIUS OF CAESAREA
“Paul testifies that Crescens was sent to Gaul [2 Tim. 312]).
POPE JULIUS I
“[The] judgment [against Athanasius] ought to have been made, not as it was, but according to the ecclesiastical canon. . .

Me too
As a protestant I love watching your videos.

@vivalibertasergovivitel...
You are ignoring our Lord's clear teaching.
Nowhere in Scripture is there a teaching from Him or His Apostles called: "Sola Scriptura" or "Bible alone"; such doctrine was invented by the man called Luther in 1520.
On the other hand Jesus, who is God, says:
▪︎MATTHEW 16:15-19
▪︎LUKE 22:31-32
31. And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.
32. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren.
Jesus proceeds to permanently guarantee the truth for His one Church, by sanctifying them with it:
▪︎JOHN 17:17-19
Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit and with full apostolic authority, declares where a Christian must go for TRUTH:
▪︎1TIMOTHY 3:15
Therefore, fullness of truth is essential and manifested in complete unity with the one Church Jesus founded and built on Peter:
▪︎JOHN 17:21-23
21. so that they MAY ALL BE ONE, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.
22. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may BE ONE, as WE ARE ONE,
1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one mediator between God and Man, the Man Christ Jesus." John 14:6, "Jesus said to them, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me."
My Aunt said that she prayed to Mary for 60 years and where did it get her? With tears in her eyes she said 22 operations and now she does not believe in God. She said, "I had my first operation at age 21."
I was so Catholic and I heard so much criticism from my Christian friends that I decided to do my own survey.
I didn't believe in Faith Healing, I believed:
1) God is Sovereign
2) God is all Powerful
3) God is in Control
4) God can do whatever He wants
5) God has a purpose a plan and a time for everything
6) God knows what you are suffering.
Misleading is not the correct word to describe such statements. It's pure nonsense, it's even stupid to think that... Not even worthy to discuss it.

My wife is an avid genealogist and has found that almost all of the genealogical records disappear around 1600 to 1500 too.
I have just started tracing my family and so far I am finding that this is true.
I came into full communion with the Church at the Easter Vigil in 1999. The Baptist church of my childhood nurtured my faith and instilled in me a deep love for, and knowledge of, the Bible. In 1995, I asked myself, where did this Bible that I love and know so we’ll come from? Most certainly it did not fall from Heaven in 1611, bound in leather, and written in the king’s English. It was a fascinating, exciting, gut wrenching, four year journey that began in a little west Texas town and ended in Rome.

It is time to open your eyes on the following undeniable divine and historical fact: Jesus founded one Church and said for Her to be one as the Father and Him are one. Anything else is human creation.

And please remember that long, long time ago, we Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestants) were part of the jewish people, the ones who accepted Christ as the Messiah as predicted by the "Old Testament".
Welcome home 🙏 God bless your family and your journey

He needed to have heard Jesus’ life-changing teachings
6C. and been present to see His healings and other miracles.

I would like to follow up with you on this... I think you ask the most important question! Blessings.

"Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces."
Daniel 7:24

Richard,
Your comment to @Simon slater evidences how little you know of the Bible and the history of Christianity.
I prove it to you with these simple questions:
1.- How many "churches" and "sects" did Jesus found?
2.- How do you know the Bible is the Word of God? Who, when and where told you?
3.- Do you know where the adjective "Catholic", for the Church founded by Jesus, originated from?
I hope to see your discernment on just those three questions if they are not too difficult for you to respond.

About the catholic church: Change the Sabbath"
Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her,- she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority."- "A Doctrinal Catechism," by Rev. Stephen Keenan, page 174.
"The Catholic Church of its own infallible authority created Sunday a holy day to take the place of the Sabbath of the old law."- Kansas City Catholic, Feb. 9, 1893.
"The Catholic Church, . . . by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."- Catholic Mirror, official organ of Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893.
D. 336), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday ."- "The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine," by Rev. Peter Geiermann, C. SS. R.., page 50, third edition, 1913, a work which received the "apostolic blessing" of Pope Pius X, Jan. 25, 1910.

IS R CATHOLIC CHURCH THE ONE TRUE CHURCH?
⭐ Was R Catholic Church the Church founded by Christ? ⭐
There answer is No.
The answer is No.
⭐ Is R Catholic Church the same as Catholic Church? ⭐
The answer is No.
Bible does not say a local church is the Church or the one true church. The Church in the Bible refers to all churches + all believers. How we know? Just take out all the verses the mention Church and Churches in the Bible we will know what they meant exactly.
⭐ Founding of R Catholic Church ⭐
R Catholic Church came in ad 380 when Theodosius decreed the Edict of Thessalonica.
@@faithalone2171 By AD 325, we were on our 33rd pope. Ignatius referred to the Catholic Church in his Letter to the Smyrnaeans, circa AD 110. He also wrote of clear Catholic teaching on the Eucharist.
The Catholic Church was founded on Pentecost.
@@danceswithbears2521 *Yes claims. These people were merely some bishops. Not popes. They did not even know they were popes in their lifetime. Not the latter deviated versions.*
you said
By AD 325, we were on our 33rd pope. Ignatius referred to the Catholic Church in his Letter to the Smyrnaeans, circa AD 110. He also wrote of clear Catholic teaching on the Eucharist.
@@danceswithbears2521 *You see? You do not read the Bible. Jesus did not found any Catholic Church or R Catholic Church. Jesus founded Church. The Christian Church later became universal (a verb) - spread throughout the region. Not some R Catholic Church (noun).*

@@danceswithbears2521 PAPACY IS NOT IN THE BIBLE
⭐ Mat 16 proves Papacy? ⭐
The favourite claims of R Catholics is Mat 16. Mat 16 does not say R Church = the Church or the Universal Church. Neither R Church inheriting any authority of Peter or was successor of Peter. So this is just the claim of R Church. Totally not proven.
⭐ Kepha proves Papacy? ⭐
R Catholics love tales. NT was not written in Aramaic. Why would Kepha prove Papacy?
⭐ Isaiah 22 proves Papacy? ⭐
Isaiah 22 says nothing of Peter becoming Pope.
Bible says Jesus is the Rock. Peter said Jesus is the Rock. Apostle Paul said Jesus is the Rock. OT says God is the Rock.
Rom 9:33 As it is written: "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STUMBLING STONE AND ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME."
1Co 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink.
1 Tim 3:15 like Mat 16 does not say R Church = Christ’s Church or the Universal Church. It most definitively does not prove anything. Bible says the term ‘Church’ refers to all churches + all believers. Not some local church called R Catholic Church which came about in ad300s.
⭐ Irenaeus Writings prove papacy and primacy of Rome? ⭐
Most certainly not since Irenaeus Against Heresies was a spurious writing that claimed Jesus was crucified at 50 years old and many other claims. Irenaeus Against Heresies was said to be an interpolation of many writings at different times.
⭐ Early writings proves doctrines? ⭐
Early writings do not prove doctrines. They were merely opinions of fallible writers or fan club members of Rome. Doctrines come from infallible source - God and His Word which came from the Earliest Church Fathers - Jesus, Apostles and nt Church.
⭐ Early writings similar to R Church doctrines? ⭐
Hardly. Early Church Fathers - Jesus Apostles and nt church mentioned nothing about 95% of R Church m m doctrines. The latter writings were only deviations from the teachings of Jesus, Apostles and nt church.
⭐ So where did R Church doctrines come from? ⭐
If we check history, R Church doctrines came from their own m m traditions.
The answer is No. Famous historians who analysed the documents at Vatican library says its not a true line of popes. There were times with no pope or times with multiple popes or times with anti popes or times with duplicated names; they were the same person.
Citation: Exodus From Rome Volume 1: A Biblical and Historical Critique of Roman Catholicism
“A press release from Vatican City in January of 1947 reported that information was changed on seventy-four Popes on the list of Popes supposedly documenting an unbroken chain of apostolic succession. Prefect of the Vatican archives, Monsignor Angelo Mercati, conducted a thorough investigation into the lists of Popes because scholars had known that the old list was inaccurate.*
Mercati’s research confirmed just how inaccurate it was. His results were the following:
- Six Popes had to be dropped: one (Donus II) never existed;
- two (the supposed third and fifth Popes Cletus and Anacletus) were the same man.
It is clear that the Vatican, over the course of centuries, has produced fabricated lists of Popes to support their illegitimate claim for an unbroken chain of papal successors from Peter to the current Pope, but in so doing have admittedly altered, removed, added, and in some cases, invented Popes to give this appearance of uninterrupted historical continuity.”
⭐ Does a line of Popes prove Papacy? ⭐
The answer is No. Why? Every organisation has a line of leaders. Even Church of Lucy has a line of leaders. How does a line of leaders prove its a true doctrine? A line exists does not equate to it being biblical.
10:15 he admits manipulating us and that there's a thousand years of broken line, while claiming it's not broken

Maybe you should find a better priest. Like this one in the video.
Honestly, it's like people at the workplace. Some are pro's, some are lazy.

However, protestants do have disagreement with doctrines set by Roman catholism. But all these differences might not directly pertains salvation in Christ. Being part of the True Faith is experiencing heaven on earth, because it is. It's God's Kingdom on earth.
Couldn't the Protestans and others trace their lines back to the Catholic or Orthodox faith?
What about the churches on India or Egypt? These churches predate the Vatican.
God Bless you
Pride and Christ dont mix well. Humility yes.
And how aboit inquisition?

Constantine did not create Christianity, he converted to it and legalized it after a period of stringent persecution.
Even the bible says that there were teachings of the apostles not written down:
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. - 2 Thessalonians 2:15, St. Paul
Do you know what was taught by the apostles that wasn't written down? Or will you concede that there is a deposit of faith that exists outside of the Bible?
Please stop parroting these anti-catholic slogans you heard from a pastor and think about the claims of the Catholic church. I am not even Catholic (leaning more Orthodox) but making statements like these make it seem like you haven't even studied the facts.
Thank you for your video Fr. I am humble enough to now say I will go back to the Catholic Church.

@Eucharist Angel stop using your corrupted bible 😆 👎🏻

He said it wasn’t originally in the early church that it just got introduced by popes and their doctrine. So I’m looking for way to make him see the truth in the Catholic Church and return. Please can you make a video on that?

Then explain to him that Christ didn’t built his church on people like Peter . He building it on people knowing that he is the Christ.

@@philwoj8112 well, yes, and the bones of James at Santiago. The Republic of Venice stole St Marks bones from Egypt. one isn't a great city unless you have an apostles bones. There are of course myths. Sacred myths and very import to the Faith. We don't care if they are fakes. Jesus wasn't even the Messiahs name. It is a Latin form of a name. Whose cares what the Messiahs actual name was, if there was ever such a person or not. Just have Faith.
@@russellmiles2861 But the Christian Faith Is NOT mythology. The foundation of our faith Is the Incarnation: God became a man, was born, lived, suffered, died and resurrected TRULY. As Christians we believe in this facts as HISTORICAL facts. Of course you have to believe this, there isn't any "proof" that the man named Yeshua ben Yussef, who lived in Nazareth at the time of the Emperor Tiberius was "the son of God". But if we truly believe, we believe in the historical, factual presence of God in our world in a specific period of our history.

Well then get down on your knees befor the cement graven image.
We don't worship images.
Damn, you people are intolerant i have no clue what they tell you about us, but it's pure adoctrination. Bet you didn't even watch the vídeo.
@@sapopsiquico8574 Did i use the word worship? Youre defending yourself from a accusation i didnt make. I said to get on your knees befor a graven image. Its your guilty conscience that made you see worship. You are denying the wrong charge. Deflection. What you cant say is that "we dont bow befor graven(engraved, carved) images." I do things that are sinful. But i dont belong to a religion that makes me go against the commandments. You should give it some thought. catholic church provides images for you to get on your knees in front of. What else is wrong about it?
@@bobdobbs943 If you say "get on your knees" you are implying that said statue holds some mysticall power or whatevs for us and that we kneel before it as a sort of adoration, like egyptians knelt before statues of Nefertiti in order to worship it. Make an actual argument instead of being passive agressive. Iam denying no wrong charge here my guy, you just have awful reading comprehension.
@@bobdobbs943 By the way, idolatry is the idea that an image holds the god inside it, or that it has some sort of power inside of the concrete statues. We kneel before the statues or whatever for the god or the saint it represents, not the statue itself, hence it is not idolatry.
I have a question: as a catholic, is it incumbant on you to have faith in flimsy church history in addition to faith in christ. Its one thing to have faith in jesus but its another thing to have faith in someone other than jesus. How do you know peter is buried at st peters?
it's their lies of course.
catholic church are full of claims but less truth.
Hundreds or thousands of denominations? Try over 40,000 since Luther. All whom say their reading sola scriptura is the correct one.
Because it is. Those 40,000 get along under the same roof... imagine that
Father, Thank you for sharing this. As a newly minted Catholic and en engineer, i love the academic side of Catholicism. May Our Lord bless the mankind and forgive our sins. In Jesus Christ's name, I pray.

Kindly read the teachings of Christ in the synoptic gospels, especially Lk 20:25-37 where He, in answer to the question on how to "inherit or have a share in eternal life" (true salvation), says that "works of love" are essential.
The Bible constantly says that people are saved by faith, from Genesis all the way into the New Testament. Faith is credited as righteousness. It says in multiple locations that we are saved by faith and not works. You need to read the Bible by itself and not read Catholic tradition into it.
My apologies - it's Lk 10:25-37.
Thanks and blessings.
@@levymanlapig8970 You're welcome.
We are called to love God and to love others, but that is only possible through faith. While faith is all that is necessary, if one has true faith, it will be shown through works (there are obvious exceptions like the Thief on the cross, who did not have enough time to show any good works).

Succession was a big factor for Newman in his change from the Anglican tradition.
They use emperor Constantin nowadays as the founder of the "Catholic sect"

_«[...] And maybe, hopefully, by the grace of God, one day come to give up the protest so we can reunite what Christ founded.»_
That is a very powerful and beautiful message, father. Gave me chills.
Specially if you think it as *universally* reunite (not letting loose ends), because «Catholic» means «Universal», and I don't know why that makes so much sense to me seen from this perspective. It is the original church, indeed.
