That's quite a job you guys took on, not sure 90% of folks would take that on but glad to see you guys tackle it. Most people also do not have the time to take this on.
Big job for sure! Well worth doing ourselves to save $5k. However R8 owners for the most part aren't daily driving these, they'd all have a second car for the day to day. So this is a job that could be done over weekend or over a week. and just spend an hour or two a day on after dinner.
There are also other who are doing the same job from the bottom and it is not 17hr job. Is around 2 to max 3k of total costs. Honestly I’ll never approach such kind of work on myself…it is too risky
Mike, I would figure you'd be focused on horse power. I know those other things are important, though ( AC ) I really believe you can increase hp without going to a tuning shop ( for some things) Those R8 online fourms are really helpful! Great maintenance job on the R8! Cool Mike!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed you did a bang up job! Me…I don’t know if I have the patience anymore. Lol. But that’s true…it’s not a daily for me…so I technically could do a few hours here and a few there and eventually get it done. I just hope I can put it all back together the right way. 🤣
Also…people have no idea how much work it is to not just do an install…but shoot a video and commentate at the same time! More kudos to you on this video!! 😎🤙🏼
@@TheFlexxGarage I got it done quickly lol, I drive it a lot! I didn’t show every exact detail, but I was determined to get it done! Took me a few weeks of studying how it was done to really feel more comfortable doing it.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed My comment above was not meant to deminish the outstanding work that you and your brother accomplished! I just wanted other vehicle owners to know that the A/C system should be properly evacuated before tackling this type of work.

I might tune it, but it’s not high on the priority list! Parts are expensive for this lol!
Out with the old, in with the new! Great work.
Thanks! It was a fun learning project!
Impressive savings!!
I know right! And something else to cross off I learned how to do!!
Awesome job dude!
Thanks!
@@BrosFOURRSpeedWelcome anyway!
Now I know when I see an R8 running with window down its because he/she doesn't have A/C lol, kidding, great video as always.
Lol, that definitely gets old 😅
Bro. You look really tired. Please get some rest. 🙏
I’m good lol
Umm yeah…I’m not looking forward to this on my R8. Waiting for the compressor to go before my warranty expires. Lol
With the right tools and some patience, it’s not too bad!

@@TheFlexxGarage Lol yeah I probably could have done it quicker without filming!
Aren't you supposed to remove the freon first?
Not too sure. But lets just say it all came out when I pulled the AC lines off lol. Had it fully recharged tho at the shop and its good to go now.
Yes, prior to replacing the compressor, the A/C system should have been evacuated using a machine to capture the "freon".
@@RichW240 Yea I learned that when I got it recharged.

Hi
Hi!
Can't go wrong with Denso. OE for most Japanese brands. Just wondering if it's worth it at this time since only another month or so of hot weather.
Definitely worth replacing lol. We’ll still have hot days into December. Plus I don’t like having a car not in top top shape. Gotta keep them good 😎
