    That slowmo jump serve at 1:33 with the camera movement and everything was cinematic af.

    This serve is especially devastating when it is a float serve at the sidelines. When the ball starts to wobble in the air, any receiver will find it very difficult to determine whether the ball's going off the court or not. Then, when they realize what's going on, the ball has already hit the court and you've won the point. Very scary indeed.

      not thaat much but it is a good serve

      I know you commented this a long time ago but, yes I agree. It causes a lot of tension, not only on the receiving side, but on the serving teams side too, you too don't know if your float serve is going to make it in or not, until the last second when you see the ball hit the floor either outside or inside of the court lines. So yes, very scary indeed

    • @_sqwid
      @_sqwid 3 года назад +3

      So that said, its just better to just receive it anyways because you don’t wanna take that risk of them potentially getting a point.

    • @Noininioninooknioni
      @Noininioninooknioni 2 года назад +1

      it could go out even if you aimed at the right place, so it´s scary for both sides, but is still a pretty good serve

    • @pulguinha682
      @pulguinha682 Год назад

      I really prefer a deep cross-court float serve. The longer the ball travels, the more time it will have to wobble and float, which will make it harder to receive, Also, with a longer distance, I can out more power on the serve, which will make it float even more and will make the ball harder to control. Also, I can serve close to the end line to creat some doubts, or close to the sideline as well, it can work. The other thing I like to do is alternate between serving long and short and also alternate between serving position 5 or 6 (I serve from position 5 usually). But the most effective serve in volleyball will, at the end of the day, always be whatever works.

    this truly is helpful, always thought about the players in the zone but not about how they position to the pass, it was obvious for me that serving at zone 1 is strong but the sideline of zone 5 is really interesting and unique, gonna become the most annoying server there is now

  • @jarde9557
    @jarde9557 6 лет назад +1

    Coach Donny could you do a video about lower back training, how do you train to strenghten those lower back muscles and lowering the risk for injury. Month ago during jump serve I started to feel pain in my right side lower back, now it seems I need to rest 4-6weeks before I can get back into jump serving. The pain really sucks all the force from the serve preventing to use my torso properly so most of the power comes from the arm. By to way ever heard of a Hybrid serve? It's something that "everyone" is learning to do now days, the name hybrid comes from the fact that you can do either jump serve or jump float serve from the same way and even have a side spin on the ball. It's said to be the "next big thing" in serving since the possibility for ace is high and complete failure is less than in strong jump serve.

  • @batuhan1200
    @batuhan1200 6 лет назад +9

    I am not sure if you mentioned it (or I just overheared it), the defender also has to decide if the ball goes out or not that's bonus aspect for the effectiveness of the serve. (this was poorly explained, hopefully you get what I mean)

    • @matijamolnar3938
      @matijamolnar3938 6 лет назад +2

      It depends, are you a floater or a ''power'' server? If Ur a floater, just prectice serving as close to the top of the net as possible. If Ur a ''power'' server it's more risky bc U can serve it into the net, so, maybe don't try that if Ur a ''power''

    • @jhemuelsoriano6314

    • @gregoryjung8976
      @gregoryjung8976 6 лет назад +6

      Diyemuwel soriano if your serves are higher you point of contact is probably lower on the ball, to make it closer to the net, try making the hitting contact on the serve closer to the equator of the ball and make sure to always follow through and also your power on how hard you hit it also affects the way your ball goes high or low.

  • @pulguinha682
    @pulguinha682 Год назад

    I like to go by the philosophy that the most effective serve is the one that works. As stupid and obvious as it may sound at first, the big thing is that, at the end of the day, every team and every player is different, and also every game is different. Sometimes a team will be able to perfectly pass any hard driven jump serves perfectly, but struggles with even the simplest floats. Sometimes you might face a libero who is very good at defending, but has problems in serve receive, and you can target him to undermine his confidence. Sometimes a player on the opponents court will be nervous, and you can serve at him, even if you have to do an easier serve. So yeah, I think it's interesting and good to know which serve tends to, most often, be the hardest to pass, but, at the end of the day, there is no single best serve, each game and each serve within a game is unique, and you have to consider the context of the match to choose the best serve

    Hey coach, can you teach us how to land safely when jumping for volleyball spikes? Whenever I go for hits, I run, jump and land, and I always seem to stub my big toes. I think it's mostly cause I run and land while having alot of momentum.

      land either on the front halves of your feet or with one foot in front of the other.it might be bc u jump too horizontally though. i used to have this problem as well

    coach.. i feel pain on my knee after playing volley ball (because of jump). i am 41 years old :) ... using the knee guard will workout? #badenglish.

    • @gavinvu9238
      @gavinvu9238 5 лет назад +2

      piss waelah You don't really have bad English , btw knee guards are supposed to help you not get hurt on your knees. For example, when the ball is coming and you dive to it, sometimes your knee touches the floor and creates a friction between your knee and the floor making your knee hurt or burn. So basically it won't help you endure your knee pain because you said it was because of the jump. Get knee pads just in case you dive though.

    • @koldkold9518
      @koldkold9518 6 лет назад

      Hi Johnny, if this injury has bothered you for a long time now or feels rather serious, id personally immediately set an appointment with a physiotherapist. They'll be able to tell you exactly what happened. One of my friends ligaments were severely injured due to her Hitting/serving technique. These problems can potentially lead to future problems that i assume you wouldn't want.

    He didn't list that it's also an effective serve because often, you'll seam the front row and back row players as well (in half the examples, the front row reacted and slowed back row reaction times). Even if the front row doesn't unnecessarily react, the backrow will still be scraping the front row player's spine to dig it up if you aim just behind the front row player.
