Let's see, should I lose the reigning MVP and GOAT who just passed for over 500 yards in the SB, to keep a QB who played less than 2 games for me? You would have to be stupid to do that. Good luck to Jimmy but he did not earn that job yet.
Mike, the media would have gone wild if patriots had traded Tom Brady. they would have went mad and said "what are the patriots doing. he just won MVP and threw so many yards. he is still at the very top. what are they doing??" they would have give a thumbs down to that too. you cant win with the media.
Of course the Patriots should and do have regret. When your owners get emotional and forces your coach to trade away a franchise QB for pennies on the dollar you probably should be. Talked about this on my channel today.
I think it was more of a shot at Brady to send garoppolo to the 49ers. Brady is a San Francisco native and desperately wanted to be drafted by the 49ers coming into the NFL. The 49ers was his childhood team.
Who better to give your up and coming QB to than your current QB's favorite childhood team. The 49er's didn't take Brady in the draft back in the day, and now his own backup is traded to a team he loved. OUCH!!
I'm not sure where Nick Wrong (even though his main points in this segment are accurate) thinks Brady was ever on a decline? 2011 and 2012 were some of Brady's better statistical years, 2013 he had a young Julian Edelman as a no. 1 WR with a hurt Amendola, a recovering (and injured again Gronk), and a concussed Austin Collie, and Hernandez got arrested. 2014 they won the SB, 2015 they almost went undefeated before injuries along the offensive line and RB plagued the team, and 2016 they won the SB also. *Where* was the decline?
He had , a running game and a defense... He had the NO. 1 O in the NFL and 3rd best ALL TIME and could put up no more than 14 points against NYG. TB in Chicago for his career would have been out of the league in 3-4 years without even a notice on the waver wire..He did nothing @ Michigan and lasted until the 6th round for a reason..Bill Belichick is THE REASON there is a "Tom Brady"...
Now that Garapolo is gone, once Tom leaves NE, it's over for the Pats. They were set up for another decade, then threw away that opportunity for nothing.
Clayton exactly, this useless trade will cost the patriots once Brady retires. I cant believe they traded away their future for a couple years of brady

And dont mention Bill B because he was coaching long before brady and couldn't win anything. You guys will be the next cowboys bragging about "our 5 rings!" Meanwhile your team goes 7-9 every season.
I have a buddy who is a die hard 49ers fan. And even he said this sample size is on Jimmy G isn't enough. They are overhyping him, and until he takes them to the playoffs/Superbowl then he'll be convinced.
Without disrespect to The New England Patriots they gave us Jimmy for free a second round draft pick is nothing and to be honest I honestly don’t think this is done effect the Patriots in any shape or form they are still the favorites to win the super bowl and it’ll always be that way as long as Tom Brady is still their so this story makes no sense to me
I'm not disagreeing with anything you're saying, but do people honestly believe Jimmy G-string would have stayed even as an overpaid backup? Because there's no way Jimmy was going to play on the level Brady did last year, so Jimmy starting would be a downgrade. Jimmy wanted to play.
they should have traded Brady. Jimmy will be a great starter for 10 solid seasons at least. Brady would have got more draft picks as an expiring old QB. He will likely have another solid season as his team is still relatively loaded up for him to lead them through the weakened AFC, but theres no way he sustains healthy, consistent qb play through the next few seasons. Garropollo is just entering his prime, while Brady is just about to fall off a proverbial cliff.
As a Niner fan I’m all in on Jimmy G, sure his stats aren’t stellar but he doesn’t have an amazing defense or great weapons on the offense and his o line is ok, just watch Jimmy G is just gonna surprise y’all
After watching today's games looks as if the Patriots made the right call so far. Brady is not falling off that cliff like so many predicted. He looks the very same Elite quarterback who will make household names to a new group of nobodies. Like he does EVERY YEAR.
Nice Wright is actually right on the money w this. You can’t trade Brady when he’s playing at this level and pump the brakes on Jimmy he played 5 games last yr and had a TD to INT ratio of 6:5 so let’s hold off on calling him a future HOF
They have remorse for not keeping him and paying him 30 mil this season? It's unfortunate they couldn't keep him for financial reasons, but remorse is the wrong word. Brady, who signed a 41 mil 2yr contract (28 mil guaranteed) in 2016, is under contract too. The idea that Brady could have been traded for high draft picks is also unrealistic. Jimmy G at 26 is a higher value asset and he only netted a 2nd rounder (and don't look at what Garoppolo did with the 49ers after-the fact, you have to look at his value before the trade, coming off injury and only having started 2 games). No team would give up high picks just to watch the GOAT play out his contract (then hopefully reupp with you for a couple more seasons). They could have traded Brady for peanuts and then paid Garoppolo, sure, but that would be, at least coming into this season, downgrading the QB position while picking up merely late rounders. I don't think the Patriots have any remorse on making the wise move. Garoppolo was a 2nd round (62) pick. They got a better 2nd rounder back (43) and traded it for more assets including a Bears 2019 second rounder. Who's to say the total value won't exceed Garoppolo's value? Therefore, by trading Brady they would have already lost value, but by trading Garoppolo they have a chance to get that value back while still being SB contenders. The Patriots made the best possible "football business" decision.
People need to get over this. Including ungrateful Patriots fans. It is very simple: the Patriots had a great succession plan but Tom Brady stayed too awesome for too long and made it irrelevant. That's all. There's no palace intrigue, no drama, no jealous Brady forcing Belichick to trade his heir apparent. From the year they drafted Garoppolo, TB12 led them to 3 Superbowls, won 2, and just finished an MVP season. Jimmy G was never gonna sign another contract with the Patriots to be a back-up and the Patriots were never gonna franchise tag Jimmy G and pay him more than Brady to back him up. The clock simply ran out on the succession plan and the Patriots just have to try to find another one. Nothing to see here folks.
Christopher Rodriguez tom brady was drafted 199th. Brady was also a backup when he won his first superbowl. Foles was drafted 88th (3rd round). Just to put it in perspective for ya 😉

In 2020, Brady's contract expires. Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger, all top level QB's, will be free agents that year. If they want somebody for the next few years they could make a play for any of those (though only Wilson is young enough to last longer than that, depending on what they are looking for.
It’s obvious that belichick is in a way sabotaging the patriots in particular kraft and Brady for going against him and treating him like he’s not a 5x super bowl winning head coach, just think about it, he sits their best corner who played 97% of snaps that season up to that point, literally minutes before the start and there’s still no explanation, he’s recommending his staff to other organisations, he made sure garrapolo got a good place, same with butler, blount, he’s setting up to leave and believe it, he’s taking the patriots down with him
I think it would have been interesting seeing Brady with another team though. To see how he is in a different system., different coach, etc. His not so declining play though put them in a tougher spot. But I think they were prepared to make such a decision otherwise.
You don't trade the guy that built your franchise! Kraft was right and Brady has earned the right to retire when he wants too because without him they'd have 0 superbowl wins!
Somebody please give Chris canty his own show about football he puts all these other clowns to shame who think they know what their talking about p.s( I am a Patriots fan, and Chris canty was apart of the 2011 giants that beat us in the Superbowl)
good segment. question was absurd, of course, as it is very clear from the Super Bowl that Patriots regret getting rid of Jimmy G. everyone made sense but Cris Carter made the best point, that there is always conflict if you're planning for the future.
Imaelito AC: it showed how Belichick wanted to make ownership pay for their decision to get rid of Jimmy G, which was done despite objections from the coach/GM.
The other option was to try to trade Brady. There was definitely another option, whether they were willing to do that or not is a different question but let’s not act like there were no options besides trading Garropollo.
Fans act like because they traded JimmyG the Pats have traded away their future for 2 to 4 years of having Brady as QB. Are the Pats not allowed to draft of trade for another QB in the next couple of years? They should draft or trade for a QB next year and if they draft a QB he could backup Tom and learn until Tom retires. That keeps the backup on a much cheaper rookie deal for a few years. I feel they could have gotten more than a second round pick for JimmyG however but that was Bill's call. A lot of people feel that you can put any decent QB in Bill's system and the Pats won't miss a beat. If that is the case then what is the panic about keeping Tom over JimmyG. If Bill is as great as some people think he is losing Tom when he retires is no big deal.
Denise Kulawik Then why did he do it? You are making an assumption that cannot be confirmed. Also you missed my point . Bill is given credit for being able to coach up and plug almost any decent QB into his system and make it work. Jimmy G has not played enough to warranty calling him a true franchise QB . I do like him alot however and I think he has a great chance to do it. If you recall Jimmy was a second round pick and was considered more likely a career backup. He came in and got great coaching and a chance to watch and play behind the GOAT.I agree that Tom will have a dropoff in play but when will that happen? He has already exceeded expectations. No QB in NFL history has earned the right to end his career on his terms more than Tom. They just need to get a decent QB in the draft or trade. Tom was drafted in the sixth round and the rest is history. IF they had decided to move on from Tom I would have understood as well. Second guessing this decision is just playing Monday morning QB. Their is no guaranty that JimmyG would have similar success as Tom. You make your decision and live with it.
Because Bill Bellichick stuck gold in Jimmy Garoppolo that's why . Out of a dozen QBs he's drafted . Including Tom Brady , he mainly drafts from the 6th and 7th rounds sometimes 5th . Because high round QBs tend to be a bust so often ... But they drafted Garoppolo in the 3rd round doesn't sound like much but it's all the difference . It's just plain obvious Bellichick has hunch about Garoppolo , and he's one best coaches all time . That's why it's a big deal , also why do you think they kept him so long and traded him at the very last possible second . Some people just don't get it . But ya that's is exactly what they will try to do is find the next best thing through draft . It just doesn't come along often . This year's draft was supposed to be loaded with QB talent . But my guess is only one Lamar Jackson will pan out to have a good career in the NFL as a starter . The thing is we'll find out in 4-5 yrs how much talent was in this year's draft .
How many years has Brady left? How long does it take to find and develop a guy. Brady has to play atleast 3 more years (next draft+ 2 years to develop) at a high level. More likely 4 or 5 ( if the right guy isnt available next draft for NE).Also the Overall talent in this roster isnt great. And Gronk (one of the view special players left ) is banged up for years. Players are okay with payed less because they can win big in NE. The system works if Belichek is great AND Brady is great. Once Brady isnt great anymore or retires the system doesnt work . And they have no Plan B.
People are bashing Gruden for trading mack for 2 first ones , well belichick takes the cake because the qb position is the most important and most valuable in the nfl ,its like trading my project hotrod for a playstation 4.
Of course the Patriots should and do have regret. When your owners get emotional and forces your coach to trade away a franchise QB for pennies on the dollar you probably should be. Talked about this on my channel today.
Draft Shea Patterson in the second round and have him sit behind Brady and learn from Bill Belichick for 1-3 years while we build a good team and he learns the system and we'll be good.
They could’ve moved up and drafted a QB this year, or took a QB in the earlier rounds. They didn’t. They drafted a bum in the 7th round. I don’t wanna hear it.
Derek Jeter was one of those guys who was never going to be traded or cut, they gave him an extension, this guy was never going to be anyting but Yankee to the end of his days. Why can't that be toms story?
Not a nick fan but thats not what hes saying. Listen to the whole thing before commenting. He was saying that to point the possibility brady might currently be at his apex.
Bellicheck has already won more SB's than any other coach. Brady has already won more SB's than any other QB. They could go on to win another 2-3 SB's and people will STILL be asking the question "Was it Brady or Bellicheck"?Both guys have egos and want to win a SB without the other to prove it was them. Bellicheck saw an opportunity to win one without Brady by trading him. The patriots with Bellicheck and Jimmy G would have a way better chance of winning a SB than Brady would regardless of where he got traded to
OK so what you are saying is that a 2nd round draft choice for Jimmy G. Is fair compensation but 2 number ones for Mac was stupid... okie dokie!?!?!? 😖🙈💩
Tom Brady has no sign of decline which is yes. But at 41 years old age. He is just one devastating hit away from retirement. Assume the fact that he plays all season long and make it to the Superbowl. Its 19 games guys. Do they genuinely think that Brady could still play at his 45? Trade away Jimmy G or not I'm pretty sure they need a backup plan for this. BB is genius but Matt Cassel shown the world that Pat can't win the chip with a mediocre QB.
Jimmy G needs to play a full season before we know if he's the real deal. Lots of players have a few good games i.e Broncos Osweiler and a team over pays him and regrets it. Jimmy G has potential but he is not proven to be a real deal yet. Wait at least a couple of season before you can say the Pats made a mistake trading him away.
They should. It was stupid. Brady and Billicheck WILL retire at the same time. It’s inevitable. Billicheck could of left his mark on the future of the franchise with Jimmy G. Three years after they are gone we will see how loyal their so called fan base is. That team will be irrelevant just as it was before they got there. I can’t wait to see it unfold. I have nothing but the upmost respect for those two men and it has been nothing but impressive watching them the last decade in a half but I have never seen more of a bandwagon fan base in all my life.
*how do u draft a QB that ends up learning from the best for several years, then shows you that he can actually play, but then you go and trade him simply bcuz the old vet Brady still wants to play when you should be focusing on your future* 😳
Because that old vet is still the best quarterback in the NFL if not the best he is clearly in the top 2. He won the regular season MVP last season, also threw for 500 yards in the superbowl.
Matthew Rider so youd take a risk in signing Brady to a 3-5 year contract with big money which im sure he wants to get paid now, and risking seeing Brady lose his game in like 2 years while other players on team get old and contracts expire???
Pedro Gandara don’t always look at the stats, misleading bro. Jimmy G brings intangibles that makes him good,he won right away with a below average squad.... keep watching
There is just no way Tom can play more than another 2 years, more than likely just 1 year. Giving up the next 15 years of Garrapola for 1 year of Brady just doesn’t make sense.
Jimmy g isn't cememented to play 15 years, Brady was the MVP last year....sure Tom most likely won't play long but it depends on how many Superbowl appearances /wins Brady can get. If he plays 2-3 more years and he wins a ring ...that's worth training Jimmy...
Montana wasn't as good? Does this fool know his history??? Montana only didn't get to the Super Bowl because he got injured in that AFC Championship game
Dude they were saying that Montana was still extremely good after they moved on from him but they had to do what they had to do and let the young guy take over.
@@chaosawaits "some people don't remember how good Joe Montana still was" "he brought them to the AFC championship that next year which showed that Joe could still play"
@@chaosawaits "he was still very good" are you actually going to say he was still as good in 93 or 94 as he was in 87 for example. Don't get me wrong, Montana was still a beast but his average yards and his completion percentages were some of the lowest of his career in Kansas, even his qb ratings were his worst other than his rookie year and 86.
To compare Brady/Garoppolo to Young/Montana isn't quite fair. 9ers chose Steve over Joe, he went to the Chiefs when they couldn't afford to keep both. Pats could have made that choice, but chose not to. Niners won a chip with Young, we'll see if Pats can win another with their chosen QB
I don't think there is any case to be made that New England shouldn't have traded Brady to the Niners instead of Jimmy G. Its a huge mistake that the 49ers dynasty is going to love and the back to 6-10 Patriots will soon regret.
Should’ve cut Brady after last year, no matter that he won mvp. The man is going on 42 years old, he is not the future, even the near future. But it’s cool with me because once Brady falls off a cliff next year the Pats are going to be awful. And it’s gonna be fantastic!
Homie threw 7 TDs 5 int and gets gifted with 137 million. Brock Osweiler was better in his first couple of starts. Teams have plenty of tape on Jimmy G; he's getting exposed worse than Dak.
Or if you watched the games he played at all you'd realize that he's so much better than Brock it isn't even funny. Brock can't make a 1 and 10 team to 6 and 10. Keep at that denial though lol.
Gawd...can’t wait til Sunday....JJ Watt’s licking his chops as we speak....if somehow Tom survives the Texans game, just look what’s coming up next....Jaguars IN JACKSONVILLE...then Matt Patricia and the Lions....Tom crying out for Nate Solder today....Brian Hoyer under center come week 4....Pats 9-7 in 2018...you heard it here...lol...LET’S GO JETS

The Patriots should have traded Brady and kept Jimmy. Brady is done in a few years anyway and any decent QB can win in that system.
Bellicheck gave him away to the 49ers as a "watch this" move to show the Kraft family they made a mistake.

It’s obvious that belichick is in a way sabotaging the patriots in particular kraft and Brady for going against him and treating him like he’s not a 5x super bowl winning head coach, just think about it, he sits their best corner who played 97% of snaps that season up to that point, literally minutes before the start and there’s still no explanation, he’s recommending his staff to other organisations, he made sure garrapolo got a good place, same with butler, blount, he’s setting up to leave and believe it, he’s taking the patriots down with him
Connor, sorry, it's not obvious. I disagree totally and it's interesting only pats fans have this fantasy lol
49ers vs patriots in the superbowl
49ers won't even make the playoffs.
Imaelito AC: i think it can say both, right? and where does 3 years come from? they gave up 15 years of Jimmy G...
Certainly the Favre/Rodgers transition was anything but smooth or natural. I don't now what Chris Canty is talking about.
The other option was to try to trade Brady. There was definitely another option, whether they were willing to do that or not is a different question but let’s not act like there were no options besides trading Garropollo.
Canty forgot that Favre and Montana both didn’t leave naturally and gracefully.
Would you like a delicious pie now or MAYBE have one later. Hmm 🤔 I’ll take one now.The Colts opted for a maybe and look at them...
As a 49ers and Bills fan I could not be happier that the Pats were stupid enough to get rid of Jimmy G
Q Crew how tf you root for the bills and the 49ers wtf
Im saying that when he retires I'll be glad they didn't keep Jimmy G
Killmonger 24 I grew up in Buffalo and went to college at UCSF
Q Crew amen to that Buffalo rebuilding and Brady otw out 🙌🏾 #billsmafia
Q Crew what if buffalo and s.f meet in the super bowl?
You can always draft a Quarterback, when Tom Brady is ready to retire.
How often are they going to do this same section saying the same thing over and over again?
Draft Shea Patterson in the second round and have him sit behind Brady and learn from Bill Belichick for 1-3 years while we build a good team and he learns the system and we'll be good.
The real question is: IS A FRANCHISE QB FOR 10 YEARS IN FUTURE PLAY WORTH LOOSING ONE SUPERBOWL TO GET HIM??? SHANNANHAN THINKS SO ESPECIALLY NOW....
Why are we still talking about this??
Because it was the biggest mistake the Patriots will ever make. Besides cheating.
Pat's should sign my boy connor cook
It's gunna be great
Don’t worry pats fans I hear Danny etling is ready to turn on the gas😂
green bay was gonna pay Brett Favre to retire lol
Pats straight got robbed
Careers do not last forever. Tom may not fall apart this season or even next. But he will. Just be ready to try to find his replacement.
They could’ve moved up and drafted a QB this year, or took a QB in the earlier rounds. They didn’t. They drafted a bum in the 7th round. I don’t wanna hear it.
45 rating for Jenny G. i dont think any patriots have remorse lol
Derek Jeter was one of those guys who was never going to be traded or cut, they gave him an extension, this guy was never going to be anyting but Yankee to the end of his days. Why can't that be toms story?
Tom will be in NE forever, and I don't care if he sucks.
Brady was not deteriorating when garappolo was drafted. What is this fool nick wrong talking about
Not a nick fan but thats not what hes saying. Listen to the whole thing before commenting. He was saying that to point the possibility brady might currently be at his apex.
nick really has a face for radio
Bellicheck has already won more SB's than any other coach. Brady has already won more SB's than any other QB. They could go on to win another 2-3 SB's and people will STILL be asking the question "Was it Brady or Bellicheck"?Both guys have egos and want to win a SB without the other to prove it was them. Bellicheck saw an opportunity to win one without Brady by trading him. The patriots with Bellicheck and Jimmy G would have a way better chance of winning a SB than Brady would regardless of where he got traded to
We have no idea how Jimmy will play in an entire season nor will he ever win a SB. Stupid convo
NFL=Not For Long
OK so what you are saying is that a 2nd round draft choice for Jimmy G.
Shady kicked Garoppolo off of Deflatriots
Gary Turbo wooow ... someone‘s butthurt here
Can you possibly fit more spelling mistakes into that sentence for me?
I get hated on by bandwagons
Kraft cheese boys
Lol Jimmy g gonna be exposed this year
3 Interceptions in game 1. Reality is setting in for him.
Once Brady & Belichick are gone and they struggle to win games their band wagon fans will vanish.
Matthew Rider so youd take a risk in signing Brady to a 3-5 year contract with big money which im sure he wants to get paid now, and risking seeing Brady lose his game in like 2 years while other players on team get old and contracts expire???
cant stand the way nick talks. smh
5 games for the 49ers. 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions and y’all think he’s legit 🤔🤔🤔
Pedro Gandara don’t always look at the stats, misleading bro. Jimmy G brings intangibles that makes him good,he won right away with a below average squad.... keep watching
Not to mention he has years of training behind the top qb of his era , it certainly paid off for Rodgers watching farve ! So grab your popcorn!!!
This is a stupid story like I know its not football season yet but come on man
There is just no way Tom can play more than another 2 years, more than likely just 1 year. Giving up the next 15 years of Garrapola for 1 year of Brady just doesn’t make sense.
exactly am 49ers fan saying that
Jimmy g isn't cememented to play 15 years, Brady was the MVP last year....sure Tom most likely won't play long but it depends on how many Superbowl appearances /wins Brady can get.
@@mymonkeyman11 dude, he literally said "Montana wasn't as good."
@@chaosawaits "some people don't remember how good Joe Montana still was" "he brought them to the AFC championship that next year which showed that Joe could still play"
4:52 "Montana was still very good but he wasn't as good as he had ever been."
Brett Favre is the worse QB ever....
Ed Lover dat you ? 🤔
So much hate in one comment
over paid
Jimmy G ain't that good
Homie threw 7 TDs 5 int and gets gifted with 137 million. Brock Osweiler was better in his first couple of starts. Teams have plenty of tape on Jimmy G; he's getting exposed worse than Dak.
The Animal I'm not saying he sucks but he's no better than Keenum based on his play. His deep ball accuracy is trash.
+Aayush rightttt we will see
From a pats fan u are so dam right
Or if you watched the games he played at all you'd realize that he's so much better than Brock it isn't even funny. Brock can't make a 1 and 10 team to 6 and 10. Keep at that denial though lol.
Aayush did u even watch him play?
49ers 7-9 at best
I predict 8-8. He won those games last year, but it was no pressure situation. Now is the true test.
49ers also had a 5 game losing streak, losing each game by 3 pts or less. 5 games by 3 or less. Put Jimmy G and those 5 would have been wins.
HILifeBoys 👈 This guy gets it / watched Niner games!
Watch the 49ers collect a top 10 defense in the next three years and start another dynasty run. Oof. 😒
This show is weak asf
Gawd...can’t wait til Sunday....JJ Watt’s licking his chops as we speak....if somehow Tom survives the Texans game, just look what’s coming up next....Jaguars IN JACKSONVILLE...then Matt Patricia and the Lions....Tom crying out for Nate Solder today....Brian Hoyer under center come week 4....Pats 9-7 in 2018...you heard it here...lol...LET’S GO JETS
Will Drucker i wish bro. Ive learned the hard way not to understimate tom brady.
Will Drucker you're a special kind of stupid
+Billy....oh I forgot...DeShaun is back at 100%...and there’ll be NO MALCOLM BUTLER, JULIAN EDELMAN, or BRANDIN COOKS...final score from Foxborough....TEXANS 27, Patriots 17...see ya Sunday pal...LET’S GO JETS
