- The two models, NP900X3B-A01 and NP900X3B-A02 are identical in specs.
NP900X3C is a newer revision of this notebook with a 22nm Ivy Bridge based processor, however it comes with a very slow Sandisk U100 mSATA SSD. This NP900X3B has a 32nm Sandy Bridge based processor with a superior samsung PM830 SSD that makes the machine a little more snappy overall. Everything else between these two models are identical.

You are correct, it is not the same model. I did not mean to convey that in my post (Sorry :P) It is an older Samsung Ultrabook. It does have the same specs as the X201, which is why I compared the two.
The point I was trying to make is that I find it being thinner with a larger (It is wider) footprint makes it more cumbersome. It requires a larger carry bag, and the power brick for it is huge. The X201 is only slightly larger than a net book.

Yes, I wiped the SSD clean and installed win7 ultimate on it. I removed the recovery partition to gain an extra 20gb on the SSD, so right now it has two partitions: The main OS partition (C:\ drive), and the 4gb partition for the "Intel Rapid Start Technology" drivers for instant hibernation/sleep.
It actually has 2 internal fans to cool the notebook. They are symmetrical, you can see the internals in one of my other videos I uploaded.
You probably just skimmed through the video really fast, but the unboxing in the this video IS the A02 model, and you can see it's dark "Mineral Ash" color, not Titan Silver. The only place that list it as Titan Silver is Amazon, and they listed silver on all their S9's, which is incorrect. The very first NP900X3B that I unboxed is a A01 model, and you can see it's also "Mineral Ash" color, not Silver. It's in my other video I uploaded.

Are you sure you're friend has the same model? There are several generations of the series9. When comparing it to your lenovo x201, the one in this video has roughly the same footprint, but larger screen, lighter, thinner, has higher resolution, etc. It still feels very solid. The extra cost is in the overall design, so you can't really just compare hardware specs.

Different model numbers of A01 and A02 is because of the color. A02 is the TItan Silver I believe...

I just want to ask everyone a question. I find it amazing that computers an be made so thin now a days. But does it being so thin benefit anything? I myself have a lenovo X201 with an I5 and find it extremely portable. My friend has a Samsung ultrabook of the same age and although it's thin, I find it's larger with and height make it flex easier and harder to carry around. Both computers have the same specs, yet the X201 was $500 less.
Any opinions?

This is a great snappy notebook for all-around purposes, but unfortunately this does not including serious gaming. It has intel's HD3000 graphics, but that's still not discrete graphics found in all dedicated gaming notebooks. You might be ok with very light gaming though. Where this notebook shines is the great screen, ultra portability, and aesthetic designs. It's good for HD videos as well because of the screen's viewing angles, color accuracry, brightness, and has above average speakers.
oh sorry I just realized you also said 3B and not C...It's so weird, I read somewhere that Titan Silver is the 3C -A02...It's very confusing..
Hard question mate. Both the series 9 and the MacBook Pro are two amazingly solid builds that give the best... If I had to choose I'd get a Series 9 but that really isn't based on specs, just taste!
For a highschooler do you think the series 7 chronos or samsung series 9 would work best? The series 7 has the power and memory but it gives that for the weight and thickness. Whearas the series 9 holds less powerful in all aspects, but gives a light and portable ultrabook.

Yes.
Yeah, if you use larger USB devices (like some bluetooth or flash drives), then you can't charge while the USB is plugged in. But if it's just a standard USB size like most cables and flash drives, it should be fine. The power cord might rub on these USB devices though, so just be careful when moving it around while charging.
Paper-thinness might have some downsides in practice, but at least this trend is driving the weights down, and eventually this will trickle down to bigger sized non-ultrabooks too.
Majority of the shell and chasis is aluminum. There are very few plastic parts. If you took it apart, you'd know.

For what? Calibrating the batter is not urgent, I can just do that on my own time. This video was for unboxing and the first boot, so I didn't want to risk it shutting down during the first boot and review. These are new generations of lithium polymer batteries, it serves no purpose to drain first before recharging unless it's to calibrate the smart chip in the battery. Just a tip to you.
Does this laptop have palm rejection ? Because it is annoying when you are typing and accidently you click the trackpad with your palm by accident
the adaptor itself is gigantic - atleast they got the thing screen bezel, could be thinner all around. i like flush edge to edge glass, too many things can get into these kinds of metal bezeled screens .

I am sure others will find my opinion reversed. What I am asking is: What about a thinner, larger laptop does everyone like. Is it the style, larger screen, or just the fact it's cool to have a thin computer?

i wish samsung would pay more attention to detail because it doesn't look very clean and refined like the macbook air. i'm really disappointed in samsung because normally i'm not a mac fanboy but the attention to detail on the macbook air just sells it for me and makes it in my opinion 10 times better. just my opinion, don't hate. :)

Both are very good, but for me i'm more a samsung/windows person so I will go for that. It's about taste, mac is more to edit pictures etc

the only reason why laptops today still support VGA is because laptops are designed towards businessmen consumers and almost all projectors only support VGA, the only problem i find with the accessories is that Samsung didn't bother to include a dongle for the VGA connection.

it honestly barely looks like the macbook air. it's a completely different color, its hinge, form factor, and port placement are completely different.

I dont know why the notebook is selled with CD recovery if the notebook doesn't have a CD drive! Just put a USB recovery in there.

I have a 2011 macbook air and a 2013 samsung series 9. Ive got to say, the macbook air is the better machine! I mean i love the samsung series 9, and i have nothing against it, but when they shipped it out with faulty drivers for their wireless card (Intel 6230, and there is still no fix by samsung), and how sluggish windows 8 was on the machine.. I had to go back to my air. But i guess apart from hardware, windows 8 has a long way to go if companies want a chance to catch up to apple.

12:57 here I can see that Samsung used on this notebook PLS screen with a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) for brightness control.
PWM is a bad and stupid technology which brings a headache and an eyes-bleeding after just 10-15 minutes of watching screens with such brightness control technology.
Never buy PLS - every one of this screen use PWM.
