Nice Gary! I've been excited to see how this flew. You did an amazing job considering how badly this was damaged when it showed up. I honestly didn't think it would ever fly! Good job! 👍😁😎⚓
Terrific airmanship Gary! Most people would have augered her in but your superior flying skills converted the situation into a miraculous recovery. Awesome job as usual.
I got mine around 6mos ago it's still in the box I'm planning a bunch of rc projects this winter great flying Gary with all the repairs you made I agree a successful flight nothing broke, this is an iconic beautiful warbird God bless 😉👍🛩
I got one myself the other day. Came in good condition, but im changing out all the servos bc i seen this fall out of the sky due to alot of the cheap parts. Prob maiden it in a few weeks. Thanks for sharing
This video had me drooling all over my keyboard! I LOVE the Flying Fortress! There is a gentleman at my local flying field that has one of these. He loves it and has described excellent flying characteristics. I am hopeful that you can get yours sorted out and have the same rewarding experience.
Wow what a shame it came shipped in that condition and I respect and applaud your efforts on sending her up and getting her down against the odds of the wings being in the shape they were in. Unlike most people I was hoping on a successful maiden and landing since the B17 is my "one that got away" warbird due to the fact that I came into the hobby a little late.
This would definitely be something to see flying a 'good' (everything worked out) flight. How great would it be if several of these were flying together.. just like watching an old war movie!
Check for wing warps. If it’s epp foam hot water can straighten it by holding the wing straight in the water then keep holding it out of the water until it’s cooled down. Lovely looking plane.
Gary, pay close attention to the gear struts mounts. Mine did not last a couple flights. They were poorly assembled. The bomber started to turn randomly after a couple of flights. I had to glue them down.
@@IJustGotHere Yep. BTW this B17 does not like wind at all. Those tiny ailerons are just too small. I tried to increase their travel. But the angle of the surface became too steep. It starts to give me adverse yaws. I'd say 10mph is the max safe range for this bird. Good luck flying! love your channel.
I have the liberty bell version of this b17 and one of the 20amp ecs’s caught fire in flight needless to say it’s a total loss.I was using two 3s 2200ma spectrum batteries. It’s a shame because I really love the look of it and how it flew. I had maybe 10 flights on it. I hope you have better luck with yours keep up the good work we enjoy your videos!
Good job flying an out of trim plane. I have one of those and when trimmed, they fly like a trainer. Just to confirm. The cg in the manual isn't close to correct. Go to forums and see where people recommend the cg. Worked great for me. The battery bay is big enough to try a bunch of different batteries. The plane flies so light that when it's windy like that, I fly with 2 4s 4000mah just to help it penatrate the wind. Flies smoother in wind with more weight. Normally I fly it on 2 3000mah 3s.
Looks like you worked to keep that bird flying straight Gary.. A few "tweeks' in it's future and all will be good. If you're anything like me,, doing serious repairs to a downed bird really makes it YOURS!! I think my first plane has more glue than foam..
I think Hk should replace it if it keeps giving you problems especially how damage it was when you got it but I think you got it Gary you are a awesome pilot sir. have a awesome day buddy 🛩️✈️🛫🛬🚁
Hey, this is a little something different to see. GG, you can at least say that it's a great looking plane for sure. Glad it landed safe and I hope that you can get it flying better. I hope you were given a discount :). AirHammer out!!
The RC companies have affilliate programs with a link at the bottom of the home pages. You receive 6% commisions and free planes and merch. You provide links in your discription section on RUclips, and amazon makes it easy to earn commissions on sunglasses and about everything someone can imagine to purchase for example: a cooler or camping table. It is more work, but could help Granpaw Gary earn money for expenses travel and vidles. Cheers
Nice maiden Gary. I hope you get her dialed in. This is a very cool plane 👍👍😎✌👊
Nice Gary! I've been excited to see how this flew. You did an amazing job considering how badly this was damaged when it showed up. I honestly didn't think it would ever fly! Good job! 👍😁😎⚓
I think it will fly great once there is a few more adjustments.

Awesome job Gary squad
You have some of the Best aircraft to fly.
Keep up your excellent flights & put this baby back into the AIR
That plane is a Beauty!
Thanks!
I've definitely learned in this hobby that "successful flight" can mean many things. Great job! Was stressful just to watch.

I hope yours is much easier to handle. Make sure you have lots of space. Trying to fly it in this little parking lot didn't help at all.

beautiful bird
Many thanks
That’s about the best I’ve ever seen anyone fly that plane. Many end up with a tip stall disaster. Great flight Gary!
Thanks Dan! I can't wait to fly it again.
Beautiful plane!

Yeah, that would be awesome!
Sweet plane

It is definitely warped from the shipping damage. Unfortunately it is close to 7 feet long and I don't have access to hot water for this repair.
@@IJustGotHere what about a hair dryer?
Gary, pay close attention to the gear struts mounts. Mine did not last a couple flights. They were poorly assembled. The bomber started to turn randomly after a couple of flights. I had to glue them down.
Yeah, I think I'm seeing the same thing! Thanks for the heads up.

I completely believe you! Thanks!
GOOD JOB piloting! With all the right you put in a still were holding stick, to get landed, heck yeah, just never know for sure on a maiden!
You have my attention this plane is nice

nice looking 17; after all of your work...too bad it was such a problem but looks nice ! ...
Thanks 👍

Except I don't own this one! This one needed to make it back on the ground. 😟
I would guess the washout at one wingtip is off. Good flight under the circumstances!
Probably right!
Looking forward to a better flight for you.
Me too Adam!
Great job! I’ve had planes like that it doesn’t always turn out that good
Same here!
From 1 motor to 4 motors that is progress.
Thanks for sharing. I am struggling with mine. Can you please share a vid of your assemble? I installed SAFE and AS3X, unfortunately, crashed.
I'm sorry! This plane wasn't mine. It was the RC Saylors and I gave it back.
I think Hk should replace it if it keeps giving you problems especially how damage it was when you got it but I think you got it Gary you are a awesome pilot sir. have a awesome day buddy 🛩️✈️🛫🛬🚁
Gary your rudder was to the left a inch before you took off. You was trimming to get it straight on the ground but never trim it back in air 😳
Oops! I will check it before the next flight.

I'll scratch this one off my wish list. The plane, it appears to me, sucks.
I can't say about the model but this specific airplane could have been in better condition.
Flaps kill your tail wheel authority.
Hope you didn’t have to pay for a damaged model
I didn't pay for it. FYI.... This belongs to a friend of mine! 😜
