I’m totally going to make one for my front garden for the hummingbirds. When I made planters for the water plants in my backyard pond, I just filled the containers with a mixture of sand and gravel so that acted as a weight and a filter. I had bought a canna lily too but it didn’t do so well back there because it is shady. I put it in a planter on my sunny deck now so it has taken off and is about to flower. I love how you gave us a nighttime shot at the end - looks great!

nice little video. you are probably gonna want to anchor that fountain in the middle. other wise it may end up on the side of the barrel and pumping water out onto the ground.

It’s pretty good at keeping the water in the barrel but we get enough rain to keep it full 😊

looks nice but your water is cloudy. You can use a bacteria starter to get a nice biosystem going. keep the water clear. Also something like lavastones to let the bacteria settle. it will also help feed the plants. Im also starting this just now and have the same barrel! hope it goes well. yours looks really nice:)

I found i had to anchor the fountain in the middle because the water sprays over the sides and you have to keep topping up the water

I use to have a whiskey barrel fountain, the mosquitoes LOVE IT. Are you not worried about those nasty bugs?
No, I didn’t notice any in mine. I’ll have to have a closer look this year 👀 💕
You can my natural mosquito dunks. They won’t harm animals or children . Just break a pice in put it in
@@diymommysminute you can always add a few small feeder gold fish from the fish store. they will eat the mosquito larva

I have one but the problem is if there is a breeze the go's over the side of the container and I'm for ever filling it up with water
