      @number1nanaof2 2 года назад +2

      The birds can't really use this...they can't stand in it...too deep. You would need a shallow saucer like under the smaller pot and a few rocks for them to stand on. The spray thing can float in the saucer but it will need refilling often. Good luck. There are a couple of channels where they do birdbath/fountains but off the top of my head I can't remember the names. Sorry. 😔

    Thank you both for the great video! I think I would personally use a dremmel tool to make a "U" shape in the lip of the planter for the water pumps power cord to rest in the "groove" instead of being in a bind with all the weight of the water and rock filler. I believe over time, it could cause wear in the cord with extreme heat. Water & electricity is not a good combination. Also, I would use a plexiglass cover over my electrical outlet to prevent splashes of water to my outlet 🔌🚱😳😬

    To get your holes the right size, use a soldering iron. Draw your circle using your tubing as the pattern. A soldering iron is also great to put holes in pots that don't already have holes or to add more drainage.

    Agree with the drilling a small notch for the cord in the bottom most tray. 🙂
    For piece of mind I think I might add two bricks to the bottom pot, one to the middle, and a half to the top one (and maybe on the top tray). I know water (& rocks) are heavy but we get some weird critters. They knock over things many times their size / weight!
    I couldn't tell from the video, but you said the water spills over the edges, yes?
    That makes me think of two possibilities.
    One, use lava rocks around the edges, this may allow butterflies and bees a safe place to land and drink.
    Two, you might just be able to squeeze some 4inch pots around the lower two edges at least. They may need to be wrapped in something (landscape fabric?) to keep the dirt out of the water. Something small and water loving. Watercress, creeping jenny, basil (?), chives (?), ... I'm sure there's many others but its way past bedtime lol, brain not working so good. So I'll leave it at that. 🙂

    Was it being solar powered this would make a decent mosquito trap. The fountain would be off at the time mosquitoes are most active so they could lay their eggs in the water and then the daily agitation would keep the larvae from hatching, or you add a anti-development chemical to the water. I think I would plant the bottom pot and offset the top pot though.. the second fountain would also look better if each level was offset, I would do one to the right and the other to the left

    What fittings did you use on the lamp post. Mine are just the glass fixtures so I have to use old lamp threaded pipe, and use big washers and the nut to secure the glass i run the tubing through the brass lamp pipe to hold it firm. The pump is at the lowest level. Then pipe through another lamp glass fixture through three of them and the tubing tubing the inside all the brass pipes. I keep thinking there's something out there that would make the connections of lamp piping. Every thing has to be frabrcated. Because every glass globe or whatever I use has a different size opening on top and bottom. I go through so many boxes of parts to make one of these. All so different but the usually crystal big and bold. So I can see all the features in each lamp globe. Hope this makes senses. Any ideas on fitting. I love you idea I looks really nice
